Why does Bassong not play for Cameroon?

Anybody know? Seems he hasnt played for some time. Is he just not considered good enough, or has there been some sort of dispute?

He made himself unavailable for selection. I remember reading that he doesn''t considers himself particularly "Cameroonian''. He was born and raised in France and played for Cameroon so he could go to the 2010 World Cup - the high level of disorganisation in the Cameroon FA meant he didn''t won''t to be involved anymore.

Thanks Bethnal. Seeing as they have some Cameroon based players in their squad ud have thought he''d have a shout of getting in their squad this time around. Understand he doesnt feel Cameroonian, but how Irish does pilks feel? How welsh did crofts or vinny Jones feel, or how Scottish does Russel Martin feel? Maybe he feels he scratched his world cup itch last time, but who wouldnt want to go to a world cup? Ud have thought it might tempt him to suddenly want to play for his country again. I just thought he wasnt picked. They have some cracking cbs to compete with him like nkoulou and chedjou along with matip from schalke, another guy at gala (nonenku sp*) so there are at least 4 better than him. BAE and Henri Bedimo cover left back, so no room at the inn, song and mbia also do a decent job at cb too, so they are well stocked.

Just didnt seem to be much chat from Bassong about the World Cup. No articles with Bassong saying he was hoping to make the squad, or that he''d love to go etc, or that he was trying to play his way into the squad. Just seemed like he wasnt interested. Though that could be the summary of his season if you were being harsh

Judging from the interview he gave towards the end of last season about how tired he was and that he wanted the season to be over, you would think that jetting around the world to play yet more games would be the last thing he wants.

Don''t really buy into the Bassong hating that went on last season. Yes, he made more mistakes than the season before, but if we were scoring at a half-way respectable rate they would have been irrelevant. For one reason and another, the pressure on our defenders as a whole was far greater than it should have been.

Plus he was paired with a garbage CB like Turner, as was shown as the defense improved once Turner was off the field, then got worse when he was on and Bassong was off.
