Pilks to Newcastle?

He didn''t have the most sparkling of seasons this time out and lacks pace in a big way. Just compare him to the Snod. If any of you think he''s at Snoddo''s level then you are frankly deluded. The question is - why are Newcastle chasing Pilkington and not Snodgrass ? Are they deluded ?[/quote]

Pilks is the better player.

Plus Ben Arfa is a million times better than Snodgrass!

I don''t think the club would consider anything less than 10M, people saying 5m are having a laugh, that''s less than £2.5M more than he cost us. The guy has gone on too have two successful seasons in the prem, he is home grown, few years left on his contract and we have no need to sell, how any of you could think we would consider bids of around 5M is beyond me. He may himself be worth 5M relative to other players (although i would argue against that) but to us he is worth at least double if not triple that.

I beg your pardon, you saying we paid £7.5m for him?

Yes I''m well aware thank you very much. But the point is, he gets past his man, and stays past his man. What else does he need? He''s also scored running in behind the defence. Fr someone who ''lack serious pace'' he does alright...

People valuing Pilks at under £5m are having a laugh. Look at the going rate for premiership wingers who chip in with 6 plus goals a season plus a decent number of assists. His form may have been a bit up and down over the last two seasons but his stats and overall contribution are impressive when viewed impartially.

What did Jarvis go to west Ham for? £7.5m rising to £10 supposedly. Add in that Wolves had been relegated so had to sell and Pilks stats are no doubt better than Jarvis''s and you get a better picture for what sort of fee might be appropriate if we were minded to sell which i doubt we are.

He has played well enough to get international recognition and scored some good goals. We paid over £3m for him and couldn''t replace him with similiar for less than £10m

The problem is so-called canary fans overvaluing players from other clubs & undervaluing our own players. They are happy to pay a premium for targets that are either unproven or not as good as what we already have . But also happy to give away our players at bargain prices.

Both Pilkington & Snodgrass have been an effective pairing on the wings for us. At this point we don''t have replacements for them. Selling them for £5mil ! Try replacing them for the same money ! You will have to cast your net a lot further than europe - you''re probably be looking under every rock in Antarctica !

If Newcastle are interested in Pilkington £20mil is the going price. They can take it or leave it.

Yes I did, sorry it wasn''t worded very clearly - got my final ever academic exam in an hour, my brains gone dead!

I can see no reason whatsoever why Pilks would either want to leave or the club want to sell him. Given that he is young, British on a decent contract and 2 impressive seasons in the EPL where he has scored some good goals against top opposition £10m would have to be the fee or thereabouts. Anything less and how could we hope to replace him

Play for a bigger club and probably get paid more money.
