Pay your tributes to former Norwich City fanzine editor

Recommended Posts

This truely is shocking news, although I didnt personally know him, have seen him around the grounds home and away for 20 -odd years, I always used to buy the fanzines he produced in the 90''s and then brought back again a few years ago aswell as reading his newspaper columns and regular radio slots. I''m sure I only saw him in The Rose on Brackendale before the Wolves match a week and a half ago?.  What brings it home even more is I am the same age ............we''ve lost one of the good guys here as I''m sure people who knew of him better than me will testify. R.I.P

A nicer man you could not wish to meet. I met John many times over the years through his love of Norwich City and in his capacity as editor with Dave Greenwood of Y''Army fanzine. I used to advertise my old pub in it and it was a pleasure to support John. Polite, charming and sincere in his beliefs .R.I.P.John Day.

I haven''t posted on here for ages but thought I would just add my bit to this.

I didn''t know him that well in recent years but we did a lot of stuff together for the Y''army fanzine, and I remember many a good laugh helping putting it together with him and Dave.

He was an extremely witty and intelligent guy and you would never meet someone with such great a knowledge and love for all things NCFC.

Carrow Road has lost the type of voice in its crowd that can sometimes be rare in the usual football supporter.

A bloke who has the intelligence of a scholar and the passion of a fan, with an articulacy to express both at the same time.

RIP Jon.

One of the things I brought with me when I moved here to France was my collection of back copies of Y''Army. It represented a "real" chronicling of NCFC''s history over that period as opposed to some of the more sanitized versions on offer.

I heard Jon on Radio Norfolk several times on match days, often interviewed by the (also sadly) late Roy Waller.

Sad news indeed. RIP Jon.

Didn''t know him personally but used to chat about non football stuff a lot on Twitter (everything from music to rooibos tea). He was well travelled and well read and also very funny.

Didn''t really know him, but did have a chat for a minute or three with him when he sold the mags outside the ground.  He seemed a good honest City boy. RIP

Sad news indeed. Can''t say I knew him well as we mainly had a quick chat when him and Dave were selling Y''Army outside various grounds on City''s travels or at pre/post match inquests in the pub. They put one hell of an effort into that magazine and it showed.A decent dedicated fan who liked a laugh and a pint. Can''t ask for much more than that can you ? RIP Jon
