Lets go for it Saturday!

Recommended Posts

Nothing to lose game on saturday, I feel Lambert will put out a very attacking side and try to press and play with a bit of flair or at least I hope he does!

How About,

                                        Ruddy

                               Martin  Ayala  Whitbread

                        Bennet     Fox  Surman  Pilkington

                                         Hoolahan

                                      Holt   Morison

Could this 3-4-1-2 formation work?? We might lack a bit of bite but we should be able to pass the ball for fun!

Thoughts on how we should play it??

Can''t see Lambert rotating like that because I can''t see the players wearing it. Whilst some fans couldn''t give a stuff about the FA Cup I reckon our players are right up for it. We are currently the 9th best side in the country. If the eight above us continue to draw each other a path to the final could open up for us. On the day in a one off game we could beat anybody. This could be a once in a lifetime opportunity for most of our players. You can bet they have realised it too.

If it was me I would rotate alittle also, yes the player will most likely care about the cup but I would rather have fresh players for the prem at the minute. FA cup comes around each year but if we were to go down it might take 5 or more years to get back. Id say lets try and make sure to stay in this league then if we can become a nice stable prem team in a couple of years then have a good go for the cups. so yeah i would rotate some but still have a go ofc and if we go thorugh great but if not then its no biggy.

I know my team line-up is very very unlikely, but I actually wouldn''t mind seeing Wilbraham against a Prem side.

Lambert will go for it. I wouldn''t be too bothered if we went out. I actually expect us to win the game.

Hoolahan

Jackson - Holt

subs: Steer, Drury, Crofts, Surman, Pilkington, Wilbraham, Morison

I don''t know about any other city fans but I would relish a trip to Wembley I have already been to Wembley three times with Norwich albeit in the league/milk cup finals But would dearly love to see City there in the FA Cup final even winning it and what it would bring to the club possible top European teams to Carrow Road and City going to the top European stadiums I was there when we beat Bayern 2-1 what a night that was and any City fan that was there that night will tell you how proud it was to be a City fan so why discount us fans and the players that we have at the moment the joy of playing with the best teams in Europe and at Wembley there are still even in this day and age Roy of the Rovers moments (Holt''y is our Roy Race)

So come on city fans lets be positive and think of good days ahead after all who would have thought after the devastating game against Colchester we would be sitting 9th in the premier league 2 years down the line ?

After nearly 40 odd years of supporting the canaries I have always stuck by them through thick and thin

Be honest who would dearly love to go to Wembley to see Norwich this year ? I WOULD

Paul Lambert is a winner with a winning attitude

Unchanged team. If we can cause Chelsea problems then we should be able to do the same to WBA. We used to reach the QF/SF of the FA Cup quite regularly without worrying about our league position so I don''t see why we need to start worrying now. If we miss out on the Europa League by a couple of points on league position getting to the FA Cup final would most likely offer us another route into Europe even if we were to lose at Wembley.

Great post Canarycol. But we''re now in the minority buddy. I don''t know when the fans stopped caring about the FA Cup. It''s maybe because it''s not promoted by Sky. ITV just can''t market it in the same way a dedicated sports channel can. But it''s huge. The FA Cup has massive prestige all over the world. It''s a national treasure and you can bet our players are dreaming of what could be possible. I believe we can win it and it would be criminal to throw this chance away.

If we can get something against West Brom (which we already have), then we are potentially 2 ties away from Wembley. Thats a pretty big incentive to give this a go.

Meant to add that I really honestly can''t see where the result of this game on Saturday can have any impact on whether we stay up or now.

I don''t think it has anything to do with Sky promoting it at all. Not in my opinion anyway.

For me, the lack of interest in the FA Cup comes down to priorities. Money in football has dictated the priority of some teams to play weaker teams in the FA Cup to save best players for the league games in order to either avoid relegation or achieve promotion. The money difference in getting promoted or relegated is huge, as we all know.

For example, when we played Orient last season, I was there watching and not wanting us to score in the last few minutes when we were pushing forward because a goal would have meant a replay and at that time we were 2nd in the Championship pushing hard for promotion. Rather than cram in another game away at Orient, the rest for the players in an already packed season was more vital.

We''re not going to win the cup, so I don''t see the point - other than the financial aspect of it, which has become less important now we are in the top league.

I wonder what Paul Lambert and the players would say if they came on this site and saw some of the views of the fans that are supposed to support them what is wrong with players wanting to win things like cup winners medals that they can bring out to show their children and grandchildren to show they were a part of a cup winning side what inspiration that would be to any youngster to want to achieve something

Instead of oh yes I was a part of a team that played x amount of years in the top flight of football, we never won anything but we was still in the top flight

I wonder if the players that we support would be discouraged in some way by some of the views on here ( just a thought ok so please don''t shoot me down )

I for one on Saturday will be getting behind the lads all the way just as I do anytime I see the lads play

I think we''re safe enough now to risk going for a cup run. I''d like to see Steer have a competative match and maybe some of the guys who''ve been struggling to get into the first team, Barnet, Bennett, but I''d like to see a strong team out there.

Also if we''re going to play a back 3 I''d have Martin in the middle, great reader of the game so he can mop up for Whitbread and Ayala

He put a strong team out against Burnley and will do again saturday. I''m with nutty on this. This I believe is one of the best chances we have had in years. Lambert will know this, plus Lamberts teams win a trophy every season, ha . As I''ve stated before I would take winning the cup over staying up. We are in a very strong position in the league and there is no reason why we can''t field a strong team. We have two Premiership games coming up but we managed over Christmas and will do this coming week.

would you really??

like i said before it comes around every year but if we were to go down it could take years to get back. dont get me wrong a cup run would be awesome but for the future of the club we need to become a stable prem team. if we go far this year so be it but id rather focus on safety than a cup run at this point in time. after all football is all about money nowadays and being a decent prem team will keep us going and hopeful will keep lambert here also for a long time.

I know we are not that far away from safety though but I would still rotate the team abit and still have a go.
sorry for double post, server is really slow on this forum..
No worries YellowBlood. If we get a window of oppourtunity to post on this quaint little old forum we should post as many times as we can[;)]

Now then, we have 29 points from 22 games. How is winning a few FA Cup matches going to stop us getting enough more to stay up? Surely we have enough ability and resources to do both. Success in the league and cup will help us attract and afford better players too.

Yes I would. Think about it man city are out. Man utd play Liverpool so that''s another of the so called top teams out. Even if we have 5 years in the prem, the season we "go for it" we will still need similar points up to this point of the season. So I ask the question why not.this season? Safety this, money that. Most fans these days don''t dream of finals they just buy into the premier league dream of finishing 17 th.

I love the F.A Cup and I really hope Lambert puts out a strong side, I''d be happy with the team that played against Burnley.

I can''t see Wilbraham starting, I saw him for the reserves last night and he was shocking! I''d like to see Morison and Jackson start up front with Vaughan on the bench. Keep Holt fresh for Sunderland.

Ruddy

Martin

Ayala

Whitbread

Naughton

Fox

Pilkington

Suman

Hoolahan

Jackson

Morison

I agree lets go for it cause if we win this won and we get good draws then theirs no reason why we can''t get to the final apart from getting knocked out obviously!

We never used to rest players in the past when we had a better team than what we''ve got now and remember we''re playing 8 less games than last season.

Players like to play more than train and while I accept the xmas period is draining and a slog, all teams do then is rest, recover and train less so I don''t see the problem!

I''d tinker a bit though -

Ruddy

3 centrebacks Barnett on the right, R Martin in the middle and Whitbread on the left.

Two wingbacks Bennett and Pilkington

Two holding midfielders Fox and Crofts

Wes Hoolahan in the hole.

Vaughen and Morison upfront.

Subs - Steer, Holt, Surman,  Ayala, Drury, Jackson, Johnson. Can we have 7 subs in the FA cup?

When have we beaten a top division team 3 times in the same season? A win Saturday would make that a rare accomplishment, I''m sure. It would be nice to have a three-peat.

We''ve only beaten West Brom once this season, so far!

They beat us 1-0 at home earlier in the season in what was in my opinion the most disapointing result of the season cause West Brom wern''t very good that day!

Houston, I think you have your yellow tinted specs on - we lost to them at Carra Rud mate! Didn''t deserve it, with their boring crap long ball, but we lost all the same!

My two cents, for what its worth is GO FOR IT. I have never had the chance/cause to go to Wembley, and I am desperate to watch the mighty yellows in a major cup final! As others have said, we might as well go for it, no reason we can''t win it!

I''d love to see us playing European football again too, I will never forget that heady day aged 7, standing in the South stand celebrating as the German Champions left the pitch with their tails between their legs, memories like those bring a tear to the eye!

I''ve never been a big fan of the FA cup but we have a real chance this year, and I don''t see a cup run affecting our league form - Lambo wouldn''t let it. If it did then I''m sure we''d see the youth team get knocked out in the next round should we beat WBA on Saturday!

Im really looking forward to the trip to the Hawthornes (for the 2nd time in 2 weeks) even if their beer is bloody expensive!
