Loan Option

Recommended Posts

Two things:

-If we sign a player on loan does it need to be before the transfer deadline or can we sign someone after it has closed?

-And if we do get someone in on loan, realistically who would you like us to bring in?

Has to be done before the deadline.

I would like to see Norwich bring in someone who gives a very different option to what we already have - personally I''d like to see Miyaichi from Arsenal. He is probably the quickest player I''ve ever seen (faster than Walcott at the Arsenal speed tests over short distances) and he is also very good technically. He is far from the finished product and very raw, but could be deadly on the counter due to his pace (which Norwich are lacking a little of).

Would be harsh on Bennett to bring in another winger I think!

I do agree to some extent. I''m a big fan of Bennett - he''s probably the best crosser of the ball we have at Norwich - I just feel we lack a bit of pace, Bennett seems reluctant to take on his man (not that he always needs to being able to cross like he does) but I''d love to see a real speedy player sitting off a defenders shoulder ready to burn up the pitch - with Holt and Morison Norwich are devestating in the air, but playing them together allows teams to sit very high up the pitch squeezing Norwich into their own area. This is what Chelsea did to us, and although they didn''t score it made it hard to Norwich to get much possession.

It wouldn''t be harsh on Bennett, we only have two wingers. If Lambert wants to play wide players (as wingers, Surman doesn''t really count as a winger) he only has two options.

If there is anyone coming in, that''s the type I would want too. A while ago posters here mentioned Phillips at Blackpool, mainly because he''d been with Lambert at Wycombe. I''ve never seen him in action, but he sounds like that kind of player. And I notice Blackpool have got in a couple of attackers this month (Fleck and Bednar) so they might be looking to offload someone.

How about Lukaku from Chelsea. Would be an absolute awesome signing from us. He also stated that he would go out on loan to gain first team regular football. Wages a stumbling block I would imagine!!

He wouldn''t be guaranteed first team football here, we have Morison, Holt and Jackson all scoring goals, and Vaughan getting fit. And if Chelsea did want him going out on loan, to get first team football they would probably pay part of his wages anyway.

Its the same old question - who could you possibly get in who will be able to do a job straight away?Howson is perfect because he can take afew weeks to acclimatise and then slot into the team.Loanees?  No-one will come who can slot straight in - will at best be a squad member - and who would want to go out on loan just to be a squad member at this stage of the season?

Can''t see it myself and do we really need anyone?

I think that is the beauty of getting in a player on loan - if we don''t need them or it doesn''t really work out then it is little skin off Norwich''s nose. Especially a young player with little prospect of getting first team football at their current club. The fee would be minimal and the wages low.

With one more space available for a season long loan then Norwich would almost be foolish not to bring someone in - it''s impossible to predict what will happen in the season and if there were suddenly injuries to Pilkington and Bennett (or even just one of them) options would be limited for Lambert.

What have Norwich got to lose by it?

Well, BYG, I suppose the straight answer to that question, is that, most likely, we''d have to pay his wages. So, I can see the point when people say we should not bring anyone in who could not slot in immediately. Particularly at this stage of the season.

Just another question . From Feb 1 are we allowed to bring in "emergency loans" in the Prem, or is that it ? And, if so , what actually constitutes an emergency loan...ie how is it defined, and how many are we allowed ?

We would have to pay the wages (or at least contribute a %) and I certainly wouldn''t suggest the club take on a major wage commitment - but a young player wouldn''t represent a massive outlay.

As for emergency loans it is only possible for goalkeepers and even then it has to be approved by the FA and Premier League boards - basically if Ruddy got injured while Rudd was still injured then it might be considered (depending on how long either player was expected to be unavaliable for).

Miyaichi sounds promising, never seen him play but heard good things, Lambert sign him up Lambert Lambert sign him up.

You seem to have a great amount of knowledge about Ryo dearest Bethnal? I wonder how? :0)

...Good call though, pace is what we need and we only have 2 wingers or ain''t really "wingy wingers" if you catch my drift. Speed merchant should be no''1 on the list but no Rommedahl''s though please.

[/quote]I have a worry that if Ruddy or Steer got injured we may not be allwoed to bring an emergency loan in. I am sure QPR or someone tried at the start of the season but the FA refused becuase the club already knew one of their keepers was injured when the transfer window was open so had the chance to bring a replacement in then but choose not too. Could that be the case if ruddy got injured? If so the FA may not allow us an emergency loan. Emergency loan rules seems a bit obscure, not even sure managers understand it- so i really worry about relying on emergency loans.

Yes, I remember that too, Priceyrice . I think it was around the time QPR played us ,and Kenny got injured. Colin had one of his hissy fits about it, and called the FA a load of bankers (nothing new there then).

So, just to clear this up, from Wednesday, we are not allowed to bring any loan players in , except (possibly) for goalkeepers, no matter how many injuries we get ?

This was back in late November and I think the PL''s point at that time was more that although QPR had two goalies injured (Kenny and Murphy) they still had a very experienced keeper in Cerny, and a 20-year-old, so were covered. Plus with the transfer window only just over a month away they could soon get someone else in then if they wanted.

But the argument that the current transfer window is there to guard against for potential emergencies could indeed apply to us. I''ve said before there is a danger that if Steer or Ruddy were to get injured the PL would refuse us a loan on the basis that should have got cover in this month while we had the chance, knowing that Rudd was out.

As to the loan rules generally, Eric, that is how I understand them.

He''s off to Bolton, if they don''t sign Zaha. Arsenal have given them until 2pm until they start offering him to other clubs.
