How much are players paid?

Recommended Posts

I’ve been arguing with a QPR supporter over wages. He claims that Grant Holt is on £58,000 a week which is clearly ridiculous. I was wondering if anyone knew of an official site which shows all premier league players wages. I’d like to know how we fair compared to the rest of the league.

Grant Holt on £58k a week? QPRs top paid players (Barton and SWP) will be on something like that.

There isn''t anywhere official, there was a list of what West Ham players were getting paid a couple of years ago, but never seen anything like that for any other club.

But no Norwich player is getting paid anything like £58k a week, probably more like £58k a month.

I don''t know if exact runumeration is ever printed. Only certain employee''s like CEO''s etc for shareholder info is known.

Needless to say holt on 58k a week is laughable.

I wouldn''t have thought the highest earner at Norwich (whoever that may be, McNally?!;)) is on more than 20k a week. + heavily weighted bonus'' linked to appearances and Norwich''s survival. I believe this is what cost alot of money last season with us being promoted and associated clauses.
I doubt any Norwich player is on anymore than £15k p/w. Not sure what planet your friend is on, Joey Barton won''t be on anywhere near £58k p/w. Thats £3m a season.
Barton is on around £80k a week at QPR - but that is the maddness of QPR.

There''s no way Holt is on £58k a week though, I would say he is on around £14k - £18k a week. I remember hearing that senior players were given a 50% pay rise for reaching the Premier League and Holty was given a new contract last season I think. This would suggest to me he is doing pretty well for himself.

Wow, it really is madness at QPR. I thought Fernandes had a more sensible & self-sustainable approach for QPR, but clearly not.

Another club only solvent as long as their owner & investors are solvent.
I reckon holty is on £100,000 a day plus £20 bonus per goal! Seriously none of you really know now do you? And does it really matter?
You should go and have a read on the ''sell outs'' thread, apparently the long term prospects of the club are very important, theres a 10page b1tch fest arguing over the same thing as far as i can see.

Player wages are extremely important as they must be the biggest outlay the club makes annually. If that gets out of control then, well *points at poorman road. That happens.

The accounts do contain a bit of a clue. For last season our player wage costs (whatever and whoever that includes) were 47 per cent of our turnover of £23m. That works out at £10.8m. If you assume virtually all that goes on the top 20 or so players that still only comes to an average of  around £500,000 a year. Ie, very roughly £10,000 a week.

I am a touch dubious about that 47 per cent figure, because it is markedly lower than that for comparable club, but it is there in the accounts. Possibly the figures for other clubs are based on different claculations.

That''s what i was trying to find PC. I googled McNally''s salary as i''m SURE i''ve seen a figure which was calculated from the accounts for him. something about his bonus.

This season the salaries will b alot higher due to the incentives for promotion and contract negoatiation for new players and re-negotiation for old players.

Rob, McNally''s overall package - pay and benefits etc - came to £289,000 last season. On top of that he had a bonus of £582,000.

PC - excellent, ta. So he could well be one of the highest paid members of staff at 16,750 p/w (including bonus as ''salary'')

Back to OP - Think your QPR friend is hopelessly out on Norwich City''s player salaries! Particularly SGH.

Also how do i get the quote to work properly, i''ve tried proper taglines (as i know it) but it hasn''t worked.

Tedious Tangible will be along shortly as prior to the AGM he multi posted on the subject of McNally''s salary and bonuses. Many on here expected him to ask questions at the AGM but he failed to appear and for some reason has not posted since on the 2011 AGM or Ricardos AGM Report threads.

I think it''s reasonable to assume with PC''s figures that no player is on really stupid Prem League wages yet.  Having said that if we stay up and the need to build the team further, wages will no doubt increase.

The good news is footballers are paying huge taxes, hence beneficial to the economy The bad news, however, is the fact that ridiculous wages and transfer fees are increasingly taking the game away from the working classes, hence half filled stadiums

Beware talking about half filled stadiums. The sell out thread has covered anything and everything connected with the fortress we know as Carrow Road.

But talking about what individual players are are on is just being nosey and you would know or find out. Your all just guessing. Really who cares how much Holt earns. As long as he is doing his job on the pitch I''m happy. From the outside as a fans point of view I get the impression we have decent people in charge of the area involving " balancing the books" so just let them.get on.with it.
