I would be more than happy to maintain the 11 point return from each set of 8 games, over the course of this season. That would give us 44 points with our ''extremely hard'' run in to come.

Europe? We would need to beating the likes of Spurs etc on a very consistent basis, and for me, that is a far fetched scenario.

Safety? Yes please.

Playing in Europe this days can be big mistake  for clubs like Norwich simply because this will affect too much our performence in league.

Seens Spurs play totally different 11 for lleague and others 11 play uefa game.

If we stay for 3 season and have estabilished club then yes can be inteersting.

so better stay 8-10 in tabele than get spot 6-7 for uefa place .

champ lig place is different but its impossible for us :)

I haven''t seen anything about europe and norwich city?

As mentioned above, Norwich have a difficult run in, we need the points now. I think it''s April where i can see us getting 0pts from 5 games!

If Norwich maintain their current form i dont think we will be in trouble, lots of my friends who support various teams, arsenal, liverpool, tottenham, united and chelsea have all said they''ve been impressed and fully expected Norwich to be tonked.

Both Chelsea and United games we were in no way outplayed just unfortunate, but they were away and thats just the rub. West Brom game is the only game i have been dissapointed with. At 8 games in, i''ll take that!!

OTBC!

There are 38 games in the season, not 32, so you are looking at 52 - 53 points. However, hard are future games are they won''t include Man Utd & Chelsea away. We have also improved massively since the start of the season, and been unlucky in a couple of the games (WBA, Stoke). So it is not inconceivable for us to continue this form.

Somewhere between 10-12 is my estimate.

We''re in good form though, can''t imagine we''ll play well all season, i''d still take 17th, but hey, while we''re up there, why the hell shouldn''t we mention Europe, on current form, we''d be close. We''re only 4 points of a Champions League spot :P

1 week at a time though, let''s beat Liverpool by 2 goals next weekend and go from there...

"can''t imagine we''ll play well all season"

Excuse me? Didn''t we play pretty well all last season? What about the season before? Seem to remember we got better as the seasons went on.....

The season is 38 games, don''t write any of them off. We compete with ALL teams - that is surely the PL mantra.

So far so good.....................

If I was to be pedantic I would suggest that we tailed off in our L1 season after a phenomenal run of results.

Agreed JG, the level dropped a little. But overall, since PL came to the club, there has been no dramatic loss of form. Consistency of performance is one of the keys to why we''re where we are now.

Long may it continue.

I have posted up, and am quite happy toistand by it, that we will be aiminmg more towards a European place than we will be worrying about relegation.

Unfortunately better wizard (who is not one of the sharpest knves in this box) has, through lack of original thought, opted to jump on the ''make it up and argue against that instead '' bandwagon.

Still Europe dors provide another peg for the whingers and whiners to hang their bleatings upon. "We won''t sign no one in January", " The club should push the boat out", " Lambert is going to Burnley ", " We need experienced Premier League players", "Why didn''t we sign another senior keeper"

Like the story of the three little pigs, as each of these bleats proves groundless off they scurry to the next one. The current one being that we are in a mini relegation league and games against the lower table nonentities are big win games.

They are not.

We will certainly pick up far more points against them than we lose. Take those points as read. The big win games are against the ''top'' teams. These are the games that will make the diffeence. Points where we were probably not expected to get anything. Those will be the points that are the difference between mid table mediocrity and having an outside sniff of something better.

That begins on Saturday.

I can''t remember the 3 threads that there was talk of europe in now as they weren''t specifically titled anything to do with europe it was just the usual pinkun posters going off topic and talking a load of drivel. However if you regularly read this forum every now and then after a good result you hear some moron spout the word europe now and then. Stop trying to gang up on me to fulfill autonomy.

Harry - i agree, obviously the idea is to finish as high as possible, though i think the general theme of the OP was "fans are getting carried away and talk about Europe after a couple of wins".

We''re yet to find any evidence on the forum of this but anyway!

You can always put in a reserve side into a Europa game, like Spurs etc. I dont think Norwich have enough players to put a full reserve team out though! Its perhaps the disruption of travelling days etc which takes lambert and his team away from the day to day training/tactical side of the first team. 2 days lost at least.

So far the fixture list has been kind to us, we''ve had wigan, stoke, west brom (dissapointing!), sunderland, bolton and swansea. so 6 of 8 we would have been games we earmarked as "we can get points from these" united and chelsea away, perhaps not!

As we''ve almost got 2 pts from each of those 6 (average, 1.83) we are doing great, however this is exactly what we NEED to stay up.

Any place in May 17th and up will do just fine!
