Said he had tried to pull every stroke possible to get on the bench.
Tetteys Jig 853 Posted April 26, 2010 people forget he was blatently out best centre back before his injury, Nelson was getting all sorts of stick, and Doc had started to only just become good again.
Queen B 0 Posted April 26, 2010 Yeah, especially in that Carlisle cup game when he didn''t play because his wife was ill or something. Everyone was saying how awful Nelson was and how without Askou our defence looked shaky.
Graham Humphrey 13 Posted April 26, 2010 To be fair though the whole team had a shocker at Carlisle.Askou certainly did well for us when he was fit but he was never as good as Doc was. Doc had been back in the team for nearly three months when Askou got injured and had hardly put a foot wrong.
Queen B 0 Posted April 26, 2010 I agree 100% they all had shockers against Carlisle, and I certainly wouldn''t put Askou straight back in if he was fit. I just seem to remember a lot of people putting the shocker down to Nelson playing and Askou being unavailable.
Graham Humphrey 13 Posted April 26, 2010 Yeah I think most people did. Time has shown that to be totally unfair though.
Canary_on_the Trent 0 Posted April 26, 2010 Looking forward to seeing what Lambert does when Askou & Whitbread are fully fit with pre-season''s under their belts, no disrespect to Nelson who has been superb since x-mas but distribution from the back must be a lot better next season, Whitbread looks very tidy on the ball with his left foot offering balance and although Askou is no Bobby Moore at the back he doesnt needlessly give it away half as much as Nelson. Smeg 0 Posted April 26, 2010
Dont know if you are suggesting he should be playing ? if so who would you be leaveing out ?
not at all, i think you fishing for someone to bite there............ its just that if fit i`d expect him on the bench, as with whitebread out we have no specialist centrebacks left. we just ahvent heard anything about him for a while. GJL Mid-Norfolk Canary 2,073 Posted April 26, 2010 After breaking a bone in one foot away at Yeovil in Decemeber, he recovered only to break a bone in the other foot in a reserve match at Watford, both injuries are 8 weeks a piece and I presume he is still out with that? They need to EARN the right to play us 0 Posted April 26, 2010 We spoke to Jens at the away supporters party on Saturday. He said he won''t be back this season now, but he''s raring to go for next season.
