G 0 Posted September 20, 2009 Put a finger up to the Barclay? I couldn''t quite see.
NottsCanary 0 Posted September 20, 2009 If it was after we scored, then I didnt notice, nearly everyone in the upper was chanting across at the charlton fans!
Matt Morriss 69 Posted September 20, 2009 I assume your referring to jonjo shelvey when he signalled 1-0 to the barclay, which he should have been booked for as it was crowd incitement
Go Wash Your Mouth Out Son 0 Posted September 20, 2009
Put a finger up to the Barclay? I couldn''t quite see.
No he put his first up as if to say 1-0.
scents60 0 Posted September 20, 2009 Assuming you mean Shelvey after the final whistle, it didn''t look like it to me. He turned when the Barclay gave him a chorus of "what''s the score" but I didn''t see him flip us the bird
G 0 Posted September 20, 2009 Oh ok. Ye I sit in the upper so i couldn''t make out what he was doing but the way the crowd reacted said it wasn''t nice.

I''m really worried about this whole ''incitement'' stuff. We''re more than capable of not starting a riot or throwing stuff when a member of the oppo taunts us (or we should be). I think it''s the fan''s responsibility not to use panto goading as license to act like we wouldn''t usually. For example - the Arse fans were way more out of order than Adebayor last week. He showed himself up no doubt about it and looked ridiculously camp running along like a dog with its head out the window, but if we continue to lay the blame at the players instead of legislating against loonies throwing stuff, the problem will only be increased. Sing Up The South Stand 0 Posted September 20, 2009 I completely agree Romantic, fans holier than though attitude is just pathetic. If we can give it out to players, we have to be able to accept it back! Regardless whether they are footballers or not, they are still human beings.
Lambo 0 Posted September 21, 2009 Funny how those annoyed at his "crowd incitement" were loving it when Lee Croft did it last season..
Camuldonum 0 Posted September 21, 2009
Put a finger up to the Barclay? I couldn''t quite see.
There must have been a finger involved because the Addicks claim he wrote 1-0 to you.Whether that is any worse than singing "We''ll never play you again" to Colchester is open to debate. Lambo 0 Posted September 21, 2009 Move on Cam... If I was like you then i''d be bitter at nearly every team in the Championship as we heard it for most of last season. It''s crowd banter and it happens all the time.
Camuldonum 0 Posted September 21, 2009 Agreed. But some of your lot appear to be still complaining about a finger.Perhaps you had better let them know?
JTG 0 Posted September 21, 2009 I''m starting to fu**ing hate Colchester.Never gave a toss about them before. But their fans are really making me start to hate them. Cant wait until the trip to..... whatever their ground is.
ZLF 274 Posted September 21, 2009 I love it when a player responds to the taunting, shows some charecter that is painfully missing from todays footballers. It was a 1-0 sign, not abusive or violent. That the barclay reacted so badly to a response to their taunts really saddens me. That was not inciting the crowd merely interacting with it. Why should players take a load of abuse (allegedly in the name of good banter) but not be allowed a riposte? If a player reacts badly - the crowd have won and so will do it again. If the crowd react badly - the player has got what he wants. Dont allow the opposition players that privilige.

It made them come to life a little bit, which was much needed as the place was like a morgue for the first 40 minutes.

G 0 Posted September 21, 2009 Doesn''t bother me the slightest. I think its disgraceful when players are yellow carded for kissing there badge when the crowd is booing, taunting them the whole match. And like all the stick Adebayor got for leaving Arsenal for a team that will be one of the best he had a right to celebrate infront of there fans. I was just asking.
