Just shows how far this club has fallen when we welcome back someone as good as him.

HELP I feel a Wiz/Smudge virus attack starting. Is there a cure?

Can''t see where you''re coming from. The Doc is a good defender in this league.

The Doc is a very good central defender, but I doubt he will play because he has been at the club for a while and Sir Glenn doesn''t like that. Just say we didn''t sign all the loan defenders, would Semmy, Doc, Stefanovic and Drury really be a bad back four?

i never thought id say this but im absoulutely delighted to have the doc back! on his day he can be the best defender in this league and playing with keneedy/stefanovic will make them days come along more often. glad to have you back doc
no that would be a good back four except otsemebor. i really dont get this guy, he really offers very little in defence and although he is ok going forward when did he last help create a goal. i think his pace hides the fact that otsemebor is not really that good/
I think he''s quite a good defender. He was key to us beating Sheff Utd, he came to the rescue of the make-shift centrebacks more often than people realised. And his combination play with Croft is often superb.

I''m not a big Doc fan,but I do think that he gets some unfair stick. At the moment we''re hardly bursting at the seams with central defenders,so nice to see him back[Y]

Otsemobor is a winger... its clear for all to see.... he can''t defend for Toffee but can take people on and whip in a decent cross... playing at full back denies him this chance regularly...

Drop croft, stick Semmy on the wing and he''ll scare the life out of left backs accross the division...

jas :)

Just look at the solid line of class central defenders this club has had over the years then look at DOC. I rest my case.
Don''t agree with that to be honest, Semmy doesn''t look confident taking people on, and when faced with an opposing player, he normally stops and passes to the overlapping player or will make a back pass, he has the ability and pace to take it round people for sure, just don''t think he has the confidence to yet.
Don''t understand where your coming from at all, when was the last time Norwich had class central defenders? Shackell was just terrible, Fleming and Malky were not exactly solid, even in our premiership days in the early 90s we still shipped a lot of goals. Doherty in my opinion is one of the best defenders we''ve had at Norwich in a long while, though he gets a lot of unwarranted stick, he is solid in the air, he isn''t scared to put his body on the line, he throws himself in front of shots, and he can put a good tackle in, the only gripe I have with Doherty is his distribution, it was almost laughable watching him and Shackell pass it round with each other.

How far to you want to go back to start:-

From Barry Butler through Watson,Bruce, Polston,Butterworth, Lineghan, Forbes......add some yourself from the clubs history there are still plenty to choose from.

Doc would not figure against ANY of them. No timing, clumsy,no ball distribution, slow and thats on a good day. He might be reasonable by todays team standards but not for fans who remember much better.

You have just described Malky Mackay..... if he hadnt scored the important goals he had (Play off run, Vs Ipswich at home and in the promotion season) he''d of got the Doc Treatment rather regularly...

Malky did not appear in my list. City through and through and a great guy to have. I was at Colney when they brought him in and introduced him to the then team.Inspirational but not class.

I dont doubt any of that, but he still had no timing, was clumsy, slow and couldnt distribute the ball...

Went to see a bit of training on Wednesday and the doc scored a great own goal. A header Sibierski would be proud of and he got abuse from Rusty for it.

I know the game is all about opinions but blimey just how far have we sunk to welcome Muffin back.

I''ve had a tough day today and to come home to read that he could be on the bench tomorrow, plus all the match fixing publicity, I have to conclude God must be Binner.

If Muffin does get back in the first team anytime soon I just hope someone has told him his backside is for sitting on anywhere other than when wearing a city shirt.

I''m off to the pub. I bid you all good day!

The last 2 comments were funnier than mine was, and I hate to admit that.  Good job, guys.  The own goal in practice had me laughing, and then all this stuff about "muffin" just about caused my appendix to burst I was laughing so hard. Now if only it wasn''t combined with the tragedy that he is on our team the laughter wouldn''t be spoiled by feelings of guilt.
