Student concessions?

Recommended Posts

I would like to go to the game against Birmingham this weekend. I''m a student but there''s no student concessions prices on the official site, does anyone know if they are available and how much the ticket would cost?

There is a 16-21 age bracket discount (which is the same concession price for over 60s) but only for members.

For the Birmingham game that would be £15-£17 for most areas of the ground (or a lot more if you wish to sit in one of the lounges in the City Stand, or the middle blocks of the Jarrold Stand).

How old are you Billy?? I''m guessing about 13....

And by your lack of ability to construct a proper sentence in most cases, I can''t see you ever setting foot inside one of our Universities.

I am also annoyed they don''t do Student prices, where I sit for my season ticket it means I have to get an Adult ticket, and at £470 it isn''t exactly cheap.

.tax dodgers shouldn''t get anything cheaper imo, unless they was studying something worth while like teaching, nursing/doctors etc....

but my guess is he is studying something like sport science or business studies and on the lash every night

You utter ignorant fool. Do you know how much I have to survive off each year?? £3000, and that is supposed to cover my rent, which is £2500, so that would leave me with £500 to live off for 30 weeks every year, £16 a week. Now if that doesn''t deserve cheap deals I don''t know what does.

Luckily my parents help out as much as they can.

He may well be studying something like that, but he may also end up being your boss someday Billy, whatever his degree is. I''m studying history, is that a waste of time as well? And yes I go out and have fun when I can, it''s called making the most of it before I have to go out and find a job.....

Although you probably wouldn''t know what going on the lash is, being 13 and all.

Thanks for your input, Billy. Ironically, I did a sandwich course and

paid my tax and national insurance while I was earning for 14 months

but don''t let that get in the way of your narrow minded view that all

students are tax dodging parasites.

Students over 21 in full time education are entitled to discounts. I know this because when i renewed my season ticket i provided evidence that i was in education and received the discount. The same happened for the FA Cup match last year.

I thought no one could rival smudger in the ignorant buffoon category, but you''ve just smashed right through it.

Taking an attitude like that just makes me want to think of you when I''m slashing your tax up the wall in September, cheers!!

On a more serious note you''re obviously grossly uneducated and ill informed regarding the entire issue. If you had gone further than bunking off school before your GCSE''s you''d have possibly gone to University yourself, and you''d know that the the majority of students don''t get enough money to cover their rent, let alone pee it up the wall.

Besides, very little of student funding for the average joe is grants anyway, the majority is loans that needs to be paid back.

Brilliantly constructed counter-argument there Billy, boohoo, I wonder where you learnt that, in your Year 8 class last year?

Exactly Hoolahoop, my argument would have been even stronger if I had mentioned it was a loan rather than a grant. Oh, and guess what Billy, not only do I have to pay it back, I also have to pay interest on it.

So don''t worry, your dad hasn''t lost out. Why a 13 year old is concerned with how us students spend our grants is beyond me though.

Anyway, I''m pretty sure that on production of a student card you can get some money back on your season ticket. I''m sure I did it last year. I''m about to e-mail the club and find out, I''ll let you know the result.

E-mail reply from the club reads:

Thank you for your email regarding student prices for season 0809.

If you would like to provide us with proof of your full-time education in September we can then charge your Season Ticket at an U21 price and refund the difference which you have paid.

Amazes me that the text is in blue!! Anyway, there''s the answer.

Who did you contact Hoolahoop? Does it apply to me, I sit in the Jarrold, and they don''t normally offer U21 prices there.

i think with the way this economy is going a person with an economics degree/business studies degree is going to be invaluable, in fact I would go as far to say it is probably one of the most important degrees for our economy. You tart.

most students in the normal world get a job to coincide with their uni work! then you have extra revenue not hard is it????

Billy, I do also have a job, as a barman at Leicester City FC. It gives me about another £40 every couple of weeks. Perhaps you should realise that a degree should be undertaken like a full time job if you want to make the most out of it.

I go out usually, on a Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Now, I don''t get absolutely wasted on these nights, most Fridays yes, but other nights a few drinks don''t hurt. Uni, while it is important to get the degree and work hard for it, is also about the experience, and socialising with your friends before you have to move into the world of work. Therefore most people are making the most of it before they have to work for 40+ years.

A lot of people I know, may go out the night before and not get up until 10/11/12, but then they will have lectures, maybe even at 9 in the morning, and stay in and study until 7 at night, maybe later. The phrase "work hard, play harder" is apt.

Yep, and as its a loan it is all paid back with interest. (We get off council tax, but thats a joke anyway) Students go out all the time to have fun and be sociable, not sure I can give a more simple explanation than that. I did well enough at uni whilst having the time of my life, got very good results based on a lot of hard work. It is very possible to do both.
