CJ 1 Posted August 16, 2008 Well another cracking result 1-1 at home to Blackpool time to celebrate and I am sure we will have all the usual comments early days etc . What is really even more worrying is that Glen Roeder really has less clue than most of the supporters and even more worrying less than me!He leaves Russell on the bench for most of the match and keeps what must be one of the worst defenders I have seen play for Norwich on the pitch, that is Omosuzi, who not surprisingly gives away a penalty. The usual crowd will also say it is easy to comment after match, but here is my thread after MK Dons match...(13th August)"The real problem is that these loan signings clearly are mainly young light weight players who are struggling to find form. In particular Omozusi is one of the worst defenders I have seen. For two of the last three goals scored he let his man through. He is forever watching the ball not the players. Lupoli is neat but has no idea how to score same with Koroma who once again failed to deliver on a one to one with the keeper unlike the MK Dons striker. My scoresMarshall 6, Otsemobor 6, Drury 6, Shackell 9, Omozusi 1, Clingan 8, Hoolahan 6 (Croft 57, 6), Fotheringham 5, Russell 7, Lupoli 4 (Pattison 68, 6), Koroma 4 (Cureton 57, 6). For those going to watch them against Blackpool 0-0 is best result because Russell is the only one who has any idea what to do with the ball near the penalty area. Blackpool mark him and the rest couldnt score given freedom of the park!"Sorry Roeder you have started the season as badly as Grant did last season by not ensuring that the two central roles attack and defence are covered. Last season everyone could see we needed a better central defender and to be fair I think Glen has that coverede. Now we need a proven tall attacker. It is difficult to turn around a team that is failing and that is what he has got to do now.Oh and I am staggered that Shackell didnt merit a place in the back four, he was one of the few players to come out of MK Dons match with credit. Swap him for Omozusi any day even if playing out of position!Maybe it''s time to give Delia a call see if vacancy coming up soon, hear the pay isn''t bad ;-)

jetstream 0 Posted August 16, 2008 I was surprised to see Patty start ahead of Rusty - and we looked a hell of a lot more threatening once Rusty came on (albeit as ''striker'') and Croft replaced Patty.Whilst Pattison did not have his worst game ever he was just pretty anonymous.Fozzy and Clingan cancel each other out and we had no central midfielder pushing forward.Omuzusi (can we call him "Ozzie"?) looked better pushing forward as we chased a winner but he''s not that much better than Semmy in my opinion. Not sure I would have played Shacks at RB ahead of Semmy though - that''s a big call on his wrong foot.

He also appears to have caught a dose of crabs (as in he keeps going sideways, not any kind of STD rumour).
jetstream 0 Posted August 16, 2008 Agree about Rusty/KlingonFozzy disappeared for the majority of the second halfQuite noticeable that Stefanovic was ordering players around, bossing things - like Dion, he seems to be a natural on-field leader unlike Captain Invisible.Fozzy re-appeared - on my radar - flat on his backside in front of the Jarrold Stand during injury time! Need to see Bell play. And of course, we can rain crosses in all day but who would they fall to but the opposition centre backs?I was impressed by Stefanovich - classy with the ball, looked to have a bit of extra time in the way that good players do. Ditto Kennedy.
jetstream 0 Posted August 16, 2008 Mister Chops, can we please stop agreeing with each other - it''s getting embarrassing.I think that would be a very promising midfield, but only if Hoolahan stays out wide left. He''s drifting all over the place which is ok to a point but it was leaving the left flank exposed during the second half in particular (notably when we were chasing the winner today).I think Steffy is Captain material - Kennedy was also very steady. The proof is that no-one''s really mentioning them. It shows they are just getting on with the job.
InLambertWeTrust! 0 Posted August 16, 2008 I think Roeder should and will stay until october HOWEVER if he hasnt been given suitable funds then its not really his fault for producing such a rubbish team now is it? I''m not saying that he hasnt been given good enough funds, just specualating....

Today started as a flat 4-4-2 but too often Hoolahan went AMC ("the hole") which dragged Clingan back and meant Fozzy had too much ground to cover - and he''s not in the best of form at the moment. A flat 4-4-2 with Rusty and Fozzy or Rusty and Clingan as centre mids would be so much better.

. 0 Posted August 16, 2008 If he does enough to impress Rochdale over the coming weeks he''ll be off to seek his glory....He''ll be here along with his sidekicks until Smith is finally ejaculated...then Peter Cullum will cull''em all.........(I''m quite proud of that one)......... We have no traditional winger of any quality...but we have Clingan, Rusty, Bell, Fozzy...all with slightly different attributes but essentially central/ish midfielders -not wingers.Hoolahan on the left wing ?! OMG,...people thought we were unbalanced and exposed with Hucks there. Our most creative player seems to thrive in a free role between midield and the strikers. We would be doing other teams a favour compromising his effectiveness by placing him in a tactical straightjacket. Salopian 1 Posted August 21, 2008 I think that the Board will not want to face the prospect of three managers at CR in little more than 2 years. Whether this will mean that they will find some money to buy a striker or two before the end of August, I don''t know, but clearly our present strikers are not good enough or experienced enough to guarantee avoiding relegation. If the season flops until the autumn then there is a very strong incentive for GR to leave, like Grant before him, but the Board would still have to find some money for January for whoever replaced GR.My guess is that it depends on Roeder''s own assessment and feeling. If he does not manage to sign strikers, and if we are in the relegation zone in October with a general loss of confidence in the team, then his own pride may take him away.In my opinion, the threat to GR and the likelihood of him leaving soon is more likely to be his decision rather than the Board''s.
