Paul Spector 0 Posted July 28, 2008 Am I the only one baffled by everyone''s new found love for San Jose?!?!? Are you all Norwich fans, or Darren Huckerby fans? Better ex Canary legends have gone on to play for other teams abroad and noone gives two hoots. Hucks was an exciting player in his prime, but never contributed defensively and as the years went by his attacking contributions lessened also. So many of my "Norwich" friends are saying their buying a SJ shirt this year instead of a Norwich shirt - I just don''t get it! Hucks was one man - surely the club you''ve supported for your life is far bigger. Now you can all start grilling me...
Evil Monkey 52 Posted July 28, 2008 Its just a novelty, I guess... not many of our legends have gone on toplay in America, and I guess its just all a little new andexciting. Whether or not you agree with Hucks being let go, he''sstill a true legend in our lifetime and I personally just wish to seehim play well and "show the Yanks how its done"... The shirt idea ispure novelty - the chance to have our legend''s name on the back of ashirt most people here won''t recognise. There''s no split loyaltyhere cos the MLS is worlds away from the English Leagues...
GJP 79 Posted July 28, 2008
Hucks was an exciting player in his prime, but never contributed defensively
So what? That''s like saying Kevin Keelan didn''t score enough goals.
SWP = Poor Mans Ruel Fox!! 0 Posted July 28, 2008 People are enjoying the adventure of watching the MLS, particularly good as we are still in the summer break for another couple of weeks, what is the matter with that?Hucks is a Norwich legend and seems a nice genuine guy. I actually kinda agreed with him being let go, although not with the way it was handled. Wishing him well in the US and its good to keep track of what is happening. Joanna Grey 0 Posted July 28, 2008 I have no problem with some people following his career but wish that they would start their topics in the "other football" section.
National express super guard 0 Posted July 28, 2008 folllowing hucks over there coz he was so good to us so I like to see how he''s doing, and still class him as Norwich coz he''s a legend. However, I am not one of the numptys on here wanting a shirt, seems a bit strange to me, I''ll always buy a city shirt
can u sit down please 0 Posted July 28, 2008 The word legend is freely used nowadays but Hucks definately fits the bill. He provided us with some glorious moments and showed us loyalty beyond belief! I hate it when people call people like Eadie a legend. Why is he? The most injured legend ever? The guy was good but lets not over use the word legend. ncfcstar 342 Posted July 28, 2008 Not really is it, when you are playing on the wing you need to put as much effort into defending as attacking, otherwise you expose the flank. So it''s not like saying Kevin Keelan didn''t score enough goals at all.
Paul Spector 0 Posted July 28, 2008 That is totally different. Part of a midfielder''s duty is to track back - Hucks was a luxury that we couldn''t afford any more. Still, whether he is/was a legend or not, i still don''t get the love affair with SJ. Maybe it''s just me.

Hucks was an exciting player in his prime, but never contributed defensively
So what? That''s like saying Kevin Keelan didn''t score enough goals.
can u sit down please 0 Posted July 28, 2008 Dont get me wrong. He was a good player but not half the player Hucks is/was. I just think the word legend is over used alot.
First Jedi 0 Posted July 28, 2008 I tend to watch loads of football anyway. Since I''m watching random games, whats the harm in "supporting" a team that is no rival to Norwich, and that I''ve *some* interest in due to my favourite player of all time playing in their ranks? Not hard to understand, is it? 0ridgemanddMMyyyy0Falseen-USTrue 0 Posted July 28, 2008 Perhaps its just the way the whole affair was handled at the end. Man management at its worst the club hopes that everyone will have forgotten perhaps not.
Paul Spector 0 Posted July 28, 2008 Don''t get me wrong - i''m not saying its wrong to watch and want another team to win etc - I''ve been to many games on the continent as a neutral and will support one team etc - the point that really wound me up was people saying they would buy a SJ shirt INSTEAD of a Norwich shirt. To me, that is silly.

The other people are saying they want a San Jose shirt aswell, there is nothing wrong with that.

I "support" a few random foriegn teams (Barca, Parma, Elfsborg etc), even got a couple of shirts. I still support Norwich though, but i just like watching all football. And as I previously didn''t have an MLS team, why not support Huck''s team.
Evil Monkey 52 Posted July 28, 2008 For me its a case of either/or, but I''d already made my mind up not tobuy the new shirt because of the sponsor, so Huckerby''s move to the MLShas given me the option of getting an interesting shirt thisseason. Previously had a Real Sociedad shirt just because theywere my Pro Evo team on version 4... nowt but a bit of fun. Whyshould it be a problem whether we buy a SJ or a NCFC one? Surely itsour choice? He was an attacking player. His job was to run with the ball, take defenders on and make things happen. He was there to create chances and score goals. He did his job.
