Lincs CR 0 Posted June 17, 2008 Championship footballers were today charged with burglary after items were allegedly stolen from a nightclub staff room, police said.Southampton players Nathan Dyer, 20, and Bradley Wright-Phillips, 23, were charged following an incident at the Bar Bluu club in Southsea, Hants, on Feb 28.Police were alerted after the pair were allegedly captured on CCTV entering an unlocked staff room at the club with a group of friends during the early hours of the morning.Staff later claimed that three mobile phones, £145 in cash, student cards and cigarettes had been stolen from three handbags.http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/2145283/Footballers-Bradley-Wright-Phillips-and-Nathan-Dyer-charged-with-burglary.html

Canary4Ever 0 Posted June 18, 2008 Am I right in thinking thats one of Ian Wrights sons?- if it is he isnt gonna be a happy Bunny!
Mark .Y. 375 Posted June 18, 2008 Yes, it is one of Ian Wright''s step-sons I believe.Bit more background for you all.......................... Bar Blu is on Southsea sea-front and is often used by Pompey, and although I didn''t know it - obviously Southampton, footballers. To avoid any potential problems outside they provide a route for the footballers to leave via the back door and this was what these guys were doing. They were with a couple of mates and noticed the staff room door was open so went in and rifled through the waitress'' handbags, stealing money and at least one mobile phone. One phone was sent back but they had taken the SIM card out of it so wasn''t much use to the young girl. A CCTV camera was rolling on them throughout. The reason it has taken so long to get to court etc is that Bar Blu management contacted the players and the football club to try and get them to return the money etc (I think that was when the phone was sent back) - they basically offered them an escape route from the scandal. However, neither the players nor the club responded satisfactorily and the only course left to them was to report it to the police as theft. You really couldn''t make it up could you.............. I don''t think Ian Wright will be too happy with him do you?!? I can''t believe that the nightclub actually were willing to give them an escape route. They will get off lightly as well due to their profile. These 2 young lads are decent footballers with a fairly average football club. They are playing football professionally which almost was/is every boy''s dream at one stage. They''ve got the quality to carry on but the fame causes them to be arrogant and do things like this. I think its absolutely dreadful and should be sacked by Soton. Why steal things when they can just buy them?!? Its a shame to hear things like this, but sometimes fame, immaturity and alcohol does these things...just like our Martin. Mark .Y. [/quote]

Carrow89 186 Posted June 18, 2008 " Are Southampton that short of money!? :-)"Horrendously so.After years of infrastructure investment they decided remedy it with one massive borrowing spree - the same deal as Derby, Leicester and the paupers (the latter also having some hapless, upper class buffoon with little football background experience at the helm). The talk in S''oton is administration. If they are going down why not pull the plug on the debts as well.
