First Wizard 0 Posted October 18, 2007 They (the cowardly board of fools) never, ever, intended to anounce the appointment of Duffy yet, because of the following reason''s.1. The AGM tonight: Hopefully, there will be enough awkward questions flying about and angry voting by the real fans as it is, Duffy being appointed, would have been the final straw for many of them!.2. Bristol City Game: Ditto for above, especially if we lose Saturday, it would have caused a near riot and certainly a big protest if an anouncement had been made beforehand. No, five will get you ten, that the directors have everything crossed for a good result on Saturday, so they can anounce NEXT WEEK that Duffy is the new City manager. If, as I suspect, a defeat is the result, then they still have their get out of jail card. This bunch of to**ers are that transparent, at least to those with eyes to see it!.[:|]

blahblahblah 2 Posted October 18, 2007 Or maybe, just maybe Wiz old chum, it takes time to arrange an interview between people who are currently employed / abroad and the club, and the club want give every decent manager who is interested the chance to have an interview ?Could it really be that simple ?Saturday and next Wednesday could well prove that the problem with the first teams'' performance was that Peter Grant was trying too hard and confusing / upsetting people. Then what, eh Wiz ?
The Voice of the Thorpe Area 0 Posted October 18, 2007 Wiz, if you are proven right, fair play, you''re a genius! But I strongly suspect that you are wrong, and that you are reading far too much into this.

ca 1 Posted October 18, 2007 Anyone who has recently appied for a job knows that it was never going to be done and dusted in a week. They have to allow time for people to apply, arrange interviews, make a decision, give them time to discuss with their families, arrange compensation with their existing club etc etc.I wouldn''t have been impressed if they had rushed such an important decision through in a week as we need to get it right this time. Old Shuck 300 Posted October 18, 2007 If they appoint Duffy, then they will be asked some very serious questions indeed. To boast about having "high quality applicants from home and abroad" and then appointing the safe, dull, cheap and always been relegated option would be a step too far and by far!If if was the case, I''d like to know who they turned down from the list of "high quality applicants" in order to appoint Duffy! He now has TWO games to prove himself, I reckon even two points out of six would be enough for the Board!Should be an interesting AGM tonight, assume the "everything is lovely" brigade will have all the best places, all the speechs and all their applause ready!
