Rudolph Hucker 0 Posted August 9, 2007 Hughes off to help the tykes get some points back. He should perform well in Division 3. Nice guy though, who kept his head up and tried to do his job despite shortcomings. After paying Reading enough to fund half of Coppell''s promotion bid for him old Worthy probably had his top target of a big wedge too.Well done, Granty. Good and necessary business done in a decent way for a decent bloke.Trouble is, Norwich fans being as they are there will HAVE to be a new whipping boy and Docherty is in pole position. One slip, one free kick from old DocOc leading to a goal and he will be the panto villain three months early. But what if the affable and media loquatious irishman has a blinding start to the season, who then? Drury? Brown? Fotheringham? Shackell? Jarvis? We once had a promising young striker named Henderson; and unlike Hughes he couldn''t take the stick which stopped his progress in it''s tracks.Who are we gonna crucify now? Or are we going to try and support every player wearing the yellow and green for a change? And by the way, criticism is a different thing. I am talking about the bile from the matchday stands.Just wait, someone else is now in for a crap season from Norwich supporters after Hughes left the Club. Bury Green 0 Posted August 9, 2007 Today is a good day so lets just sit back and contemplate that never again will we have to suffer ‘The Hooves’ ‘ and look forward to team shorn of pretty much all its deadwood. The last time I felt like this is when Sutch finally cleared off to haunt some other poor unsuspecting supporters who were under some tragic misconception that he was a footballer. Who next for our undivided affections? Certainly Muffin (Garry Doherty for the uninitiated) is on the hit list as he is every inch the next Willy Young but you know what? I struggle to think we have too many other players who will be incurring the fans wrath anytime soon. Drury might just manage it though, he really can’t pass wind can he? Finally, sorry but Henderson never promising, yes he got a couple against Millwall in our promotion season and he did ok away to Everton in the FA Cup when he came on but that was the sum total of his contribution. Once upon a time Darren Beckford bagged a hatric against Everton but he’s hardly hall of fame material either is he? Something about the sun shinning on the dogs ar-e occasionally, Henderson was next to bleeding useless and we are well rid of him

To name two examples I thought Hughes was the target of boo boys at Reading. And Dixon Whereareyou got that nickname from Preston fans for his lazy and anonymous performances.
We once had a promising young striker named Henderson; and unlike Hughes he couldn''t take the stick which stopped his progress in it''s tracks.
We once had a promising young striker named Henderson. That a manager never played as a striker but at right wing game after game. He certainly proved time and time again he was no right winger. Did this manager ever get the hint through his little dumbo brain.... NO. And this stopped his progress in it''s tracks.
Who are we gonna crucify now? Its the nature of football in this day and age of huge wages.

blahblahblah 2 Posted August 10, 2007 I''d like to think that there won''t be a whipping boy this season, as we appear to have a squad of professionals who try hard competing for places in the team, which should mean that whoever gets into the team will be giving their all to stay there. That said, effort alone isn''t enough for most supporters. I''d expect Doherty to get stick from the first free-kick he gives away onwards, regardless of the fact that we let in fewer goals when he was on the pitch than with any other combination of central defenders. At least I think I''m right in saying that, I remember Zippers''LeftFoot posting something along those lines.Llewellyn, Henderson, Sutch, I''m fairly sure Goss used to get stick too. Possibly even Townsend when one of his many 30 yard shots screamed over the bar. Isn''t this one tradition we could do without ? Or am I being too much of an ideallist ? Mello Yello 2,572 Posted August 11, 2007 The new ''whipping boy''?.......That will be the ''Lord Protector'' of our major-shareholder''s, ''Darth Donkster''. Who has the hide of a rhino - and can take twenty lashings from a ''minority'' of disgruntled customers/supporters vitriolic verbal lashing "cat o'' nine tails" shaped tongues - then have rock salt sprinkled into the open weals.......But, he''ll remain smiling (unemotional and without teeth exposure) - and still carry on, solid, transparent and unwavering, in his role of the perfect Chief Executive. Was he actually assembled at ''Westworld'' alongside Yul Brynner? He also has his own little whip that keeps his perputual motion spinnin'' top - spinnin'' an'' spinnin''.......an'' spinnin''........an'' spinnin''.....You''ve got to admire the bloke........haven''t you?Playerwise, I think the frustrated fickle fans will flip at ''Fozzie''........Or Dave ''Striker''...... Dowp End 0 Posted August 11, 2007
Drury might just manage it though, he really can’t pass wind can he?
Certainly could if he was at the Barbeque and sampled the colesaw !
Duffman 0 Posted August 15, 2007 Didn''t take long for the new whipping boy to stand up and take his bow. Lets all hound Gary Doherty out now shall we ? Who''s next after that? David Marshall is getting slated for his poor kicking so he could be next. Someone has even questioned how much we paid for him and him not being worth it........Fickle or what ? Marshall''s kicking was awful last night, he also could have done better with both goals. Therefore people ''having only seen him play a few times'' are questioning and commenting. What, in your world do we all just ignore poor performances. As for Doherty, many people are of the opinion he is not good enough. the goals against tally whilst he has played certainly indicates we have a problem at the back. I now firmly believe both the Doc or Shackell would be good enough, but that their partnership is not. Unfortunatly decent Centre halves do not seem to be easy to find at the moment. Duffman 0 Posted August 15, 2007 First of all, I dont need to have a point to post something. At least thats the feeling I get when I read alot of the stuff on here.I made those comments because I am slightly confused how Doherty can go from being MOM on saturday to ''not good enough'' and ''we need to replace him'' 3 days later. We all know he has his faults but its the championship for gods sake, not the champions league. My comment about David Marshall still stands, some people on here are so fickle its unbelievable. He has one bad game with his kicking and all of a sudden he is ''Andy Marshall #2'' or ''not worth what we paid for him''.
Boba Fett 0 Posted August 15, 2007 I dont like to pinpoint anyone this early on but no doubt there will be at least one underperformer this season that will get some greif. I have a really bad feeling about Dave the Striker, although i really hope im wrong.PS Fozzy is a great Carl Robinson replacement isnt he!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But we have conceded a ridiculous tally of goals these last two years which kindof suggests the centre back pairing is not up to standard...To be fair to Marshall he did change his boots last night after some dreadul kicking that was reminiscent of Andy Marshall... certainly it is far too early to judge the guy... Rudolph Hucker 0 Posted August 18, 2007 So, by popular consensus it seems to be Gary Doherty, doesn''t it!?Get behind ALL of the players and criticise constructively.
