Worthington Apologises......

Recommended Posts

To those that had to catch the bus!!

I am very aware of the fact that some people have to dash away after the game and I want to make it clear that my comments were not aimed at those people in any way, shape or form.

I don''t see it as grovelling at all.

He''s saying it wasn''t aimed at those who had to dash off for travel arrangements specifically.

In other words it WAS aimed at some people, specifically those who left through choice by way of protest against the poor season.

I don''t think he''s done himself any favours with this but then again he''s obviously determined to keep digging at the WO campaigners.

The other thing that follows from this is that Doncaster & Mumby said he didn''t mean ALL the fans were not "true" supporters and that the comments were mis-interpreted/taken out of context.

Nigel has now reiterated his comments for a third or fourth time (by attempting to clarify what he meant) so it''s pretty clear he is contradicting the Club line and (rightly or wrongly) sticking to his divisive comments.

Does the word "untenable" mean anything to the Club?

To me this doesn''t really change anything. He''s still saying that all those who chose to leave early aren''t true fans. Who is he to judge who''s a true fan or not - I''m surprised he''s bothered as long as he gets his money!! Effectively Worthy is saying that anyone who doesn''t support what he''s doing as manager isn''t a true fan of the club. Talk about blinkered and arrogant!!

If Woirthington didnt say these things in Public then he wouldnt have to apologise..

im sure all managers have a moan at their fans in private, maybe some say what Worthington does.. but its in Private isnt it.. not in public.

Yet more proof of the mans incompetence

jas :)

despite mumby & doncaster rallying to worthy''s defence after his true supporter jibe, i''ve not seen any evidence that worthy wants to reach out to disaffected supporters.  whether its intentional or not, he comes across with that appears like a siege mentality to me, of ''them or us'' which ultimately won''t create the unity we need at carra rd to succeed next season.these latest comments will noy rally supporters to him for next season - he needs a charm offensive and quick in my book for the sake of NCFC

"Whether some players leave or not and who we might be able to bring in has yet to be determined"

This is the statement that gets to me. I, and many others, have bemoaned NCFCs attitude this year and last year regarding going on holiday for a while and then coming back to begin transfer dealings.

I know there are many on here who think Harry Redknapp is a bit of a "naval anchor" but he has already gone public on the back of the Pompey Evening News and listed all his current squad with his verdict on whether he aims to keep them or not next year and the reasons why. Some are on loan (eg D''Alessandro, Routledge) and he has said the club will try and buy them. Others, he has said he does not consider good enough for the club and they will try and find other clubs for those. Nothing nasty, just honest verdicts. What it does show is some forward planning, you can guarantee that having produced a list of players for the door, he has also produced a full list of transfer targets and the enquiries will be starting next week.

We should surely be capable of a similar exercise.

Mark .Y.
