Sell Green. Then We Can build a great team.

Recommended Posts

I have just realised that the best way forward for the club is by selling Robert Green in the summer. We should keep Gallagher as number 1, i understand he looked good yesterday and have Joe Lewis as number 2. We can then bring in a young keeper on loan to guard against injuries. Someone like ruddy  at everton. Selling Green will bring 2 million to spend on top of the estimated 2 million we already have in the kitty. 4 Million would go along way to a great side next year.

We could buy someone like Davenport for around 750k, to give good competition. Perhaps play him with shackall. Then sign Sam Rickets of swansea, a versatile full back for 500k (hopefully). Halford and Koumas would then cost 750K and 1.5m respectively and then sign Chris sutton on a free who''s brought a house in roughton. That comes to under 4 millin.

                                    Gallagher

Ricketts         Davenport            Shackall         Drury.

Halford         Koumas            Safri               Huckerby

                     Earnshaw         Sutton

Subs, Lewis, Spillane, Etuhu, Doherty, Eastwood*

* would also be tempted to sell mckenzie for 500k and spend the money and a bit more onm Freddy Eastwood 750k.

Squad players. Ruddy, Fleming, Colin, Hughes, Henderson, Ryan J, Rossi J, Mcveigh and Cave-brown, Halliday, eagle, and Fisk

This gives a good squad of 28 and with the sale of green is affordable. I reckon all players would come althought there is a doubt over koumas. If not him, someone like Idiakes possibly, Darel Russel, Vaughan at Crewe.

We would add to the release of charlton and ward by getting rid of louis jean (or Colin), thorne and robinson.

What do you think. this is not impossible.

I dont think that whole sale changes would be that great. Dav would cost a mill, Koumas AINT coming here, Halford would be good. Billy Jones from Crewe would be a brilliant future prospect. Still want a proper left winger, and not Hucks. I would have him in a kind of ''hole'' behind the front two, giving him freedom to attack on both flanks and down the middle, sitting deep, using his pace to go past players.

                             Galllacher

Baird / Vaughan   Davenport Shackell  Drury

                           Safri

Halford                                             Commons

                        Huckerby

            Earnie                McKenzie

Saf will be injured after precisely 39 mins of the first game, so Rossi or Spillane can be adequate cover, maybe Dicskon if he performs like he did yesterday. If we can offload some dross, Clapper, Charlie, Robinson, MLJ + Colin, we can get Billy jones in as Saf''s replacement. Lets face it, he is always going to get injured.

Baird or Vaughan wont be much, 250k Dav 1.5 Mill, Halford will cost around 1 mill, Commons (if Forest stay down) 500-750k.

Dreams are great arent they.......

But in all liklihood, if Worthless stays, the nightmare scenario

                     Gallacher

Colin      Fleming   Docherty   Charlton (will probably get a 3 yr extended contract last minute!)

Hughes     Ethuh Robinson    Huckerby

            Johanson      McKenzie

God help us all....

I agree with your views Hudson in that selling green would be a great Idea to have more money... However he is a fantastic goalkeeper who we are very lucky to have but at the same time oh well the money could be very handy. My main point is can we trust Worthington with the money ? would he honestly seek to sign up and coming quality players like Greg Halford and  Freddy Eastwood or would he bring in another player of the quality of happy clappy hughes ? Great Idea if worhty goes. It would be great to let a new manager have money available to make the signings Worhty would.

Im sorry Robert as much as I am Admirer of you and your ability I would prefer to have the money from your transfer to spend on in my view more important and weaker areas on the pitch. Bring in Joe Lewis blood him into the team at a young age and he will be awsome...

Although Hudson you will not get much more than 2 million for green 3 if we are lucky... Is it enough for that great team you named sadly I think not.. Halford 500,000 rising to a 1,000,000. Freddy Eastwoood could be playing against Norwich next season.. So might not be possible to pinch him from southend.

I agree. As good as Greeno has been for us, he is a luxury in our team at this current time and the money could be better spent elsewhere. I think that there is an intrinsic problem of getting top class players to come to Norwich at the moment. Key will be in setting out a stall that shows ambition and that can be demonstrated by a our close season spending and cutting away of the deadwood. If we dont do something next season then it is going to be a long slog back to our promotion season. A couple of emphatic wins wouldn''t go amiss e.g. 6-0 against Wolves on the last day of the season (Etuhu 2, Earnshaw,  Huckerby, Macveigh and McKenzie)

Pipe dream

[/quote]

Im not sure about "pipe Dream". If worthington had sense he would hopefully look to the Halford''s, Billy Jones''s and the Freddy Eastwoods''s. I would hope Worhty if still in office would look a these types of players that are young, hungry and fresh (exeption of Freddy Eastwood who''s not fresh but is hungry and to make this P.C I will call him a traveller...) . We should start a fresh next season with a few "young" signing such as the above and with the Norwich city youth in the team youth in the team... but with Huckerby, Doherty and Earnshaw leading by (there slightly older) example... I could possibly live with Nigel Worthingto if he did this.... Or even better bring anew manager in who would sign quality players anyway....

Goalkeepers rarely go for that much... even Paul Robinson wasnt signed for much at Spurs...

If u look at goalkepper transfer fees then i think Realistically 1 million is what we can expect for greeno

No, we would get around 2million for Green, probably from Everton, Middlesborough, Wigan or West Ham. Jason Koumas will not be playing for Norwich next season and the only way we could get Eastwood is if Southend dont up which is unlikely. Andrew Cave-Brown should be the first choice right-back or atleast given a chnce thier as he has been awesome for the youth/reserves this season. This would be my choice of starting 11 for next season;

Gallacher
Cave-Brown
Drury
Doherty
Shackell
Halford - 1mill
Vaughan - 1mill
Spillane
Jones - 1mill
Jarvis
Earnshaw

2nd team;

Lewis
Louis-Jean
Lewington
Fleming
Halliday
Danns - Free
Huckerby
Lunt - Free
Etuhu
Mckenzie
Mcviegh

Gallacher

Caveman Doherty Shackell Drury

Halford Spillane Jones Vaughan

Jarvis Earnshaw

Not the best team in the Championship but up thier and very young. Rotation is the way of new football and with decent sqaud players such as Hucks, Lunt, Rossi, Etuhu and Mckenzie could be the way at Carrow road. With a decent coach such as MARK BOWEN and DAVID WILLIAMS this team could become a forced to be reckoned with in the Premiership in a few years.

There`s the assumption in this thread  that some club wants Green , and that 2 million is to be expected ,   fact is though ,  he`s been trying to leave  for about 18 months  , and no club is interested   , so whats changed now ?     we`ll be damn lucky to get 1 million  !

Apparently there was interest in him last summer but the club priced him out of the market. Id say 2 million would be reasonable, if he finishes the season well and goes to the World Cup. After all, he is a youngish, reasonably experienced goalkeeper with premiership experience who would probably settle fairly quickly at a premiership club.

I also agree that spending has to concentrate on youngish players with potential but I also think we need some experienced players. Most importantly though (and something we haven''t done for a while) we need to concentrate on bringing in the right players for the job. at the very least, we need a right back (Cave Brown and Spillane have a future but I wouldn''t like to have to rely on them yet), a centre back (what with Charlie going, Flem ageing and Halliday being very young), some cover for Drury (I''d tend to favour a versatile player rather than a specialist left back), a right winger (McVeigh does fine on the left) and a central midfielder. I think thsi could be done for 4 million especially if we got rid of Hughes. Thorne and MLJ (I''d give Etuhu, Hendo and Colin til christmas to get their acts together and keep Robinson as cover).

Goalkeeper wise, Gallacher looks pretty good and Lewis needs to start playing for the first team, (although i''d like to see him as no 2 for a couple of years before moving up to no 1). That said, we could probably get a decent goal keeper reasonably cheap if we decided we needed to.

I would love to see sheffield Wednesdays Chris Brunt (22)  In a Norwich shirt. He Is a skifull player who plays left mid (not needed) and also right mid. Everyone knows me need a right midfielder and I believe with brunts crossing ability, long shots and fantastic dead balls he is the signing we need ! take a look my friends and see he has got a foot like a traction engine...

http://video.google.com/videosearch?q=chris+brunt

I doubt he would be too expensive either. Who can say they wouldn''t like to see abit of that at carrow road.
