Mid-Season Friendly

Recommended Posts

There was some talk before the World Cup break that Norwich would be facing a team that they had already played this season in a behind closed doors friendly before the season restarts this coming weekend.  Does anyone know whether this has happened, or is going to happen in the next couple of days?  A number of other clubs have posted highlights of similar games, such as Watford getting a decent 4-2 win against Arsenal at London Colney.

Yup, as said if its behind closed doors chances are that unless any of the players post about it on their social media pages we won't know nothing about it. Could have already happened for all we know

As it was 'behind closed doors' then there's a good chance it'll remain unknown.

It's a friendly, what about it should we know?

'Behind Closed Doors' does not mean that only footballing staff attended.

Health & availability of players is always of interest to fans.

I'm sure you can wait until Fridays press conference for an injury update.

Gagging order being stringently followed, probably a thrashing kyboshing Smith boasts of a different City after holiday in the sun.

I would expect something like this from Arsenal, if that match had already of happened.

"We began our preparations for the Premier League restart with a behind-closed-doors friendly against Watford, which saw the Championship side run out 4-2 victors.

The game at London Colney was a first chance for those members of our first-team not at the World Cup to get some minutes under their belts since beating Wolves three weeks ago, and goals from Marquinhos and Eddie Nketiah saw us lead 2-1 at the break.

However, after we made 10 changes at the break, the victors - who also began at full-strength - managed to overturn the deficit to pick up a timely win ahead of the resumption of their league season next weekend."

Wow, what insight.

I'm sure Watford  and Arsenal fans are sleeping much easier after that.

Bailey has covered this for you, on The Athletic today.

Meanwhile the NCFC specialist team at Archant Towers are copying & pasting press releases about U18 players they seldom bother to go and watch.

As above, The Athletic (Bailey) piece is a really good read, details so much of the trip and what's going on with individuals, staff and the mid-season friendly.

Agreed.

Although I'd assume Pink Un have the same content behind their paywall?

Would you recommend subscribing to The Athletic? Is it worth the fee?

Cheers.

I've never paid more than £1 month for it and it's definitely worth that.

I don't think anyone at the pinkun would put this much info into a single article, and it certainly wouldn't be presented in such a concise way.

Instead, each element would be split into multiple articles and artificially fleshed out with the same tired words top and bottom.

If you can get it for less than full rate, of course.

Discounts of 30%, 40% & 50% are regularly offered.

It only mentions the mid season friendly that was not played. Does not mention the one that was played
