Branston Pickle 3,671 Posted January 8, 2022 (edited) Not necessarily any guide to the rest of the season, but you’d have thought Burnley were hoping for a bit better than a home defeat to Huddersfield today - they had apparently put out a strong side. Clearly being involved in the cups can be a distraction, but players always used to reckon that they can help you find and maintain form - when you’re playing well you want them to carry on coming. I certainly won’t be particularly pleased if we lose tomorrow. Binners are at Gillingham in a bit, with young Dickson-Peters on the bench. Cantiaci Canary 558 Posted January 8, 2022 I'm pretty sure Dyce gets them out the Cup asap each season. The ultimate pragmatist ... why risk fatigue, injury and suspension only to inevitably be knocked out by a top 6 side at some point.
cambridgeshire canary 6,759 Posted January 8, 2022 Burnley always look down on Huddersfield as irrelevant to them while Huddersfield have always had a bit of a rivalry with them, so seeing Burnley field a first team and Huddersfield put out there reservers and yet Huddersfield winning is pretty funny. Good on them.

As much as I don't want to see us risk injuries in this competition, defeat at Charlton won't help one little bit.

Branston Pickle 3,671 Posted January 8, 2022 Looked like Newcastle and Burnley played as strong a line up as they could, so presumably wanted the win. Playing your best side and them losing is not good for confidence

Bovril 219 Posted January 8, 2022 Yeah, it'll be a Lancashire vs Yorkshire rivalry, bit like Manchester United vs Leeds.

Foxy2600 305 Posted January 8, 2022 British football fans love watching free football, when, from an independent point of view, a giant-killing point of view, Hull hold Everton to 2-2 at full time. Lineaker - ‘should be penalties now’ Toszer!
