Rupp and Hernandez were linking up well, and Vrancic should definitely not be next to Skipp - he needs to be further up. In my mind Vrancic floats where he wants and the other two have to be more disciplined. I put Idah in because IMO he has been a real difference when he gets on the pitch. He's in form and I think some pressure needs putting on Pukki.

He is a professional footballer he should be able to do all of those. He is the invisible man. If we are to lose the likes of Buendia and Cantwell who have the balls to try something different but keep him in then I give up frankly.... McLean is the sort of player to bring on when you are 2 or 3 up, not as one of your most creative players. I really hope we don't start with 3 DMs at home to hapless Derby.
Bonzo 198 Posted October 1, 2020 Krul Aarons Godfrey Zimmerman Quintilla Rupp Skipp Buendia Cantwell Pukki Hugill
HazzaJet 253 Posted October 1, 2020 Considering Derby are currently joint holders with Wycombe for the most goals conceded so far this season (8) I might swap a midfielder for a forward and go for: Krul Aarons Zimbo Godfrey Quintilla Skipp Buendia Cantwell Placheta Pukki Hugill
Jersey Canary 143 Posted October 1, 2020 Bearing in mind the transfer speculation, I would expect the following team. Krul Aarons Zimbo, Gibson, Quintilla Skipp. Tettey Onel. Vrancic. Placheta Pukki

No other reason to start him this week as he was poor last week (and on many other recent fixtures). Sigh it's so sad to see such limited thinking. OK let's spell it out. We don't have another midfielder like him. That's why he's played. Vrancic would vanish there. You can't play two holders. It's really very simple stuff. Branston Pickle 3,659 Posted October 1, 2020 I think Kenny is a classic case of what I call ‘Phelan Syndrome‘ - a player‘s player who does a lot that supporters don’t see. Mike Phelan back in the day filled the m/f role, supporters couldn’t really see what it was that he added but Ken Brown really rated him and reckoned he was busy doing the stuff we don’t notice. I guess Fergie agreed as he ended up at Man U.

I would say you need plenty of legs to compensate for Vrancic's err lack of legs. I don't think we'll be seeing Cantwell again or Godfrey. Cantwells head has been turned and you can't deny Godfrey going to a flying Everton team. We are linked to a young Liverpool defender can't remember his name, French I think
