pete 371 Posted November 4, 2018 Recent games has seen the emergence of Moritz Leitner and Marco Stiepermann as the heart of City's creative midfield. Added to that can now be added Emi Buendia as a tigerish option. Yesterday Mario Vrancic can be added to our riches in midfield apart from a Rhodes styled penalty he contributed massively to 3 of the goals. Even Tettey has tried to get further forward and try his luck with shots from distance. Add Cantwell into the mix with his youthful exuberance, Hernandez and Trybull and our midfield looks solid and full of ideas. Who would have thought the memories of the mercurial James Maddison could be forgotten so soon.
Fiery Zac 1,066 Posted November 4, 2018 Vrancic in particular I think has improved massively since first arriving and can count himself unlucky not to be playing regularly. It’s just a testament to how well the others are playing that he can’t find a way into the team (without injuries)
kick it off 2,062 Posted November 4, 2018 (edited) Not sure maddison is totally forgotten but we have certainly managed to create a brilliant midfield corps without him. Maddison is an unbelievable talent but he was almost too good in so much as his star was so bright it didnt allow others to shine and we were very one dimensional with him in the team and devoid of ideas without him. We have real quality across midfield and unbelievable depth. The players are almost interchangeable now. I dont think we look noticeably different regardless of the personnel. Even making 8 changes or more for cup games, the team play exactly the same way. I think that if anyone needs a demonstration of what farke has brought then that is it. The players know the system and the system is so effective and imposing that the starting 11 doesnt actually make much difference. SwindonCanary 457 Posted November 4, 2018 At leased James Maddison had the onuses to shoot outside the box, which no one in the team at the moment is willing to do !
hogesar 10,761 Posted November 4, 2018 Well thats a new type of moan Swindon. Last season we were apparently rubbish as we only shot from outside the area. Now we arent doing it enough. After a game we won 4-0. Certainly an interesting one..
KeiranShikari 1,524 Posted November 4, 2018 You've forgotten Kenny McLean, who should be back from injury in the not too distant future. Looked good in the glimpses we got in the first couple of games this season.
KeiranShikari 1,524 Posted November 4, 2018 We've scored a few from outside the area this season (Tettey, Leitner, Rhodes off the top of my head) but signing Pukki and Rhodes it was obvious how we were going to be targeting our goals this season. It's working.

Yellowfuture 71 Posted November 4, 2018 What a great position we find ourslves in, young NCFC players rapidly developing their potential and getting regular game time, the two must go hand in hand imo. Players transferred in now finding their feet in the English League and excelling, having confidence in the manager, the system we play and their playing colleagues. Players like Krul and Cecil finding their careers rejuvinated and enjoying their football. A great time to be a City fan, soak it up.
