The table looks lovely

The BBC championship page now leads with a pic of DF and the headline β€œNorwich have feet on ground after going top” which comes from an interview comment and isΒ so typical of this man, he’s just outstanding .

Β

Managers live and die by results, it was ever thus. Good times come and go, enjoy them while they last.πŸ‘

It also gives rise to a good GCSE question, " at the start of the day Norwich have 3 times as many points as Ipswich. Ipswich draw their game, Norwich still have 3 times their points. What was the Norwich result and how big is the points gap between them?"

It's a poor GCSE question for a number of reasons:
1 - Unless otherwise stated, it assumes that the exam-taker knows that it's 3 points for a win and 1 point for a draw.

2 - It is not possible to know what Norwich's result was other than a win, draw or loss.

3 - There are many solutions to the problem:
If Norwich start off with 3x as many points as Ipswich, then if Ipswich draw and Norwich win, Norwich will ALWAYS have 3x as many points as Ipswich afterwards therefore the "gap" is indeterminate, other than (2i + 2), where i = Ipswich's point before kick-off.

Β e.g.

Solution 1
Ipswich: 3pts + 1 point =Β 4pts
Norwich: 9pts + 3pts = 12pts
Gap = 8 points.

Solution 2
Ipswich: 4pts + 1 point = 5pts
Norwich: 12pts + 3pts = 15pts
Gap = 10 pts

Solution 3
Ipswich: 7pts + 1 point = 8pts
Norwich: 21pts + 3pts = 24pts
Gap = 16

Solution 4
Ipswich: 9pts + 1 point = 10pts
Norwich: 27pts + 3pts = 30pts
Gap = 20

The form that the team has had since the derby day game has been outstanding.

Keep this upΒ  and we will romp this league.Β

To state that I cannot see us ever losingΒ again this season is, of course, very silly as it is football in the Championship we are discussing after all and there is, in most cases, the thickness of a sheet of paper between winning or losing. Even yesterday, which became a romp, could have ended so differently had that striker of theirs not blasted two very good chances wide in the first half.

However, we are playing with a confidence, a cohesion and a level of skill that suggests we can maintain the current level of achievement with only the occasional set-back.

There is strength in depth as well and just how this squad came about, with seemingly very few weak links or costly signings, can be only described as an 'immaculate conception.'

And no! This cannot be a case of 'getting ahead of ourselves' or 'yellow tinted' nonsense. The facts of the last ten league fixtures speak for themselves as does our lofty league position.

Loving it.

( Little more than 15,000 greeted Lambert's arrival at the Loo yesterday. He won't stay there for long as he is used to 24, 000+ in League 1 and a packed Holte End to greet him. Not tin-pot indebtedness.)
