From a UK perspective it should seem odd that we know the names and inclinations of US Supreme Court justices better than those that sit in our own. Its difficult to see that as anything other than because of years of politicisation.

I think though that in its decisions the SC has actually depoliticised, taking on a far more 'legal formalist' role than I've seen before.    I could be very wrong though, I've not followed US law beyond the headlines.

Trump is a fraudster. He's been found guilty. He's claiming he can't get a bond to cover the award - I presume that's because he's not seen as good risk by the commercial companies he's approached. So he will have to liquidate some of his assets.

As to 'politicization' of the courts - sadly that's part and parcel of many US institutions including the local police chiefs. Trump doesn't have clean hands in this himself - being very partisan in appointing SC judges and indeed then using the courts with all his recent shenanigans as an electioneering platform. What goes around comes around.

No - just like you or me he'll either have to find a bond or liquidate some assets or expect the bailiffs to do it for him. 25th March is the date. I guess he might need to buy a ordinary airline tickets in the future too?

If you want to know the full truth about someone or something, without it being said out loud, then follow the money men. If they are unwilling to take a risk with their own cash then they see something really rotten. (This applies to climate change too.)

I'm a bit confused about the bond thing. Trump is hardly going to do a runner taking skyscrapers with him so I'm not sure what the bond is for. Here we just freeze assets until the matter is done and dusted. If I get time I'd read anything you might have seen that explains it

Given the bond is half a billion dollars he was never going to get a comapny to play ball, it's going to be so far out of normal practice they could never get the algorithm to work.

I think it's just the law ultimately in the US. If you want to appeal the court you either use a bond (costs you about 5% of say 120% fine value) or just pay the fine. It's aim is to stop frivolous appeals (c.f. Trump) and to make sure the monies are safe even if the appellant goes bust / bankrupt / disappears or think he's above the law during the appeal process (the bond provider is still liable) - selling real estate takes-time (and may become a fire-sale too). That said Trump may get small extension / negotiation as the case / fraud  and size of the fine is exceptional.

The state I'm sure doesn't want to seize his properties any more than Trump wishes them not too - but the monies are due. The state can always sell the properties (Trump tower, Mar-el- lago) to pay the fine and refund Trump what's left.

I think there are lots of sites that explain this in more detail i.e.-

https://www.nytimes.com/2024/03/19/nyregion/trump-bond-ny-fraud-case.html

I doubt the first part is true, 130 IQ is approaching genius, and Biden got 81 million votes.

Biden isn't an ideal candidate for president, he is too old IMO, he's just a better option than Trump.

I would gladly engage in any discussion that could shine light on what Trump actually stands for, he barely ever speaks without talking about himself, or attacking his opponents, when he goes off script he often comes out with utter madness , he at best propagated the insurrection in January '21, many feel his acts were treason, add to this, his attitude toward women and disregard for human life re covid.

My question about IQ's was hyperbole my friend.

It is not so much what Trump stands for, but what he stands against. The majority of people are not sold on the "Socialist ideal". Having close family that live much father in the North than us I know this to be true. It's why Boris was able to win so many seats in former Labor strongholds. People just don't trust the left.

Unfortunately, Norwich is a majority left wing echo chamber. If the city dwellers, of which I am one, so know I am in the minority, trekked into the country side (avoiding the wealthy woke land owners, who have inherited their wealth and feel they have a divine right to save those that have been under their families thumb, but are not prepared to give up their wealth as it gives away their power) and took some time to speak to those outside of their sphere of influence, they might develop an understanding. That others look at places like Cuba, North Korea and China and see how bad it is. Then they look at Russia and they see what happens after the "Socialist ideal" falls (which it always does), you end up with a corrupt leader like Putin who gets rid of their political opponents by any means necessary.

So I will flip the question. Can you tell me what Joe Biden stands for and how the ideals of a man that has been out to promote the personal wealth of his own family throughout his entire lifetime and who now struggles to form a cogent sentence will benefit mankind?

You're a little late to the party old boy.

I've been pointing out for some time that the woke left is a cult, by trying to turn the tables doesn't make you less of a cult member.

Just to clarify though, what cult am I a member of Einstein?

Oh and it was a question. The question mark (This ?) gives it away as a question. You're obviously a genius when it comes to simple rhetoric.

You on the other hand, just like ALOS, make me laugh constantly, but you're both unintentionally funny.

Like I said, you're unintentionally funny.

It's (Trump donor) Lev Parnas being quoted not 'old Kyle'.

You cult members need to take time reading and understanding what's being posted, otherwise we'll all have to conclude that you are being intentionally stupid.

Oh, the Lev Parnas that Trump says he doesn't know and accused Trump of lying to the American people at Biden's congressional hearing over Biden's dealings with Burisma? The Lev Parnas that was born in Ukraine?

Nothing fishy there Einstein.

Still waiting for answer though. What cult am I in?

I've still got the one they gave us when we started school.

Do they still do that?

I must be very old as some of it's written in the present tense.
