SwindonCanary 455 Posted September 2, 2016 Are we paying our players too much ? Many of our players didn''t move due to not agreeing personal terms eg. Not happy with the money offered. Is it due to getting too much money here?
Lessingham Canary 99 Posted September 2, 2016 Many?, only aware that Naismith could not agree personal terms with Sunderland, other than that ?

Wings of a Sparrow 1,415 Posted September 2, 2016 Do they also factor in that Norwich is a nice place to live for young families, and inhabited with nice people?
KeiranShikari_2 0 Posted September 2, 2016 We already struggle enough when it comes to recruitment. Lowering the wages offered seems like a bad idea.
SwindonCanary 455 Posted September 2, 2016 Mulumbu and probably Lafferty
Lessingham Canary 99 Posted September 2, 2016 Mulumbu may well have been less than impressed with the facilities in Turkey, not always about money. Lafferty I would have thought would go anywhere if he could get a start.
Grant Holts Moustache 105 Posted September 2, 2016 Mulumbu travelled to Turkey en route to internationals.
Rogue Baboon 0 Posted September 2, 2016 Lafferty did not got anywhere as we could not get a replacement in.Naismith did not go as he failed ''personal'' terms - no really sure it was in our interest to let him go out on loan. Sunderland probably then said we have to pay a % of our wages. Also they only had 1 domestic loan left & they were looking at several options
Indy 3,300 Posted September 2, 2016 What a daft question, the whole footballing world and sport in general pays far too much, I''d much rather they were in line with normal wage structure with high performance bonuses.Let''s be honest, Doctors, Armed Forces and such like we depend on for protection and health deserve far more than someone kicking a bag of wind about! SwindonCanary 455 Posted September 2, 2016 It''s not a a daft question, when talking about in comparison with other football teams !

Indy 3,300 Posted September 2, 2016 It''s not Swindon sorry, but we will pay the going rate for the players in our budget. What is too much? Should there be a cap set at 5 million a year for the championship and 10 million for premiership to even things out?

SwindonCanary 455 Posted September 2, 2016 It''s all relative, Pop stars, Actors, TV Presenters, Footballers, CEO''s, Politicians ! Do they deserve their money ? But the question I was asking was are we paying more than other clubs ? For example Steven Naismith would rather stay here than go to Premiership (just) Sunderland. KeiranShikari_2 0 Posted September 2, 2016 Lots of assumptions when it comes to wages. It''s probably safe to assume that he''s a top earner. Has it been confirmed that his wage didn''t drop with relegation? Do we know that Sunderland offered so much less? Seems reasonable to me that Naismith wouldn''t have wanted to uproot his family again for the sake of Sunderland.Although I wouldn''t be surprised if we did push the boat out a little more than usual when it came to him and Klose, we really had to get people in last January. pete 319 Posted September 2, 2016 If PL clubs come calling and players do not want to move we are paying too much. Trabzonspor said to be upset Mulumbu would not sign as couldn''t agree terms happy with his £30-40k from City for not being required to play.
daly 501 Posted September 2, 2016 I remember the £14 a week footballers they were well overpaid
