lake district canary 4,830 Posted September 20, 2015 If Mbokani has been making a good impression and is deemed match fit, he ought to be straight in the team today imo. Dorrans is better defensively imo than Howson, which could be important today. RuddyWhittaker Martin Bassong BradyRedmond Tettey Dorrans Jarvis Hoolahan MbokaniStrong bench, as usual. Katie Borkins 1 Posted September 20, 2015 I think you stick with the same team as against Bournemouth with the exception of Olsson which means Brady gets a start on the left. You might play two holding midfielders but Liverpool look slow and ponderous and I would be tempted to have a go with our home formation.Mbokani and Jarvis to cause trouble off the bench. Indy 3,471 Posted September 20, 2015 I''m thinking that we should start with the apsame 11 as against Bournemouth. But I believe Whitts will come back in.Olsson back is good but Brady had his best game at left back last weekend so wouldn''t change this week for the starting 11. Jacko 0 Posted September 20, 2015 Genuine quality and competition for places today. I expect Dorrans, Jarvis, and Mbokani to all miss out (despite all looking very strong). Yet, I thought we had a crap transfer window according to this forum.... *runs and hides*
iron_stan 0 Posted September 20, 2015 dont change a winning teamim predicting a tettey red card and a dust up with benteke
iron_stan 0 Posted September 20, 2015 obviously wisdom cant playbut dont change most of a winning team ;)
Legend Iwan 30 Posted September 20, 2015 I''d stick with Jerome as the striker, encourage him to make lots of runs and use his pace to stretch the Liverpool defence, in turn allowing our midfield and marauding full-backs to benefit from the space created. Liverpool''s CBs have been their biggest weakness so far this season and we should try exploit it as best we can.

We need to have learnt something from all those heavy defeats. I''d rather have someone with X factor in the lineup than the extra defensive midfielder . mrs miggins 0 Posted September 20, 2015 I think we might play a counter attacking game today so I expect to see Redmond and Jarvis on the wings, Cameron Jerome upfront as he works hard.
grefstad 0 Posted September 20, 2015 Jerome probably got the shirt, and it is his to lose.Mbokani probably will have to wait for his chance from the bench, until Jerome has a poor game.Difficult on the left, if Olsson comes in, as expected, would you play Brady or Jarvis?Pretty sure Brady starts, but expecting Jarvis to come on in the second half. Six Pack 105 Posted September 20, 2015 You don''t just counter attack against Liverpool Miggins - you need to control midfield from the off. Our defence is just not strong enough to absorb attacks and then counter attack. We need to put them on the back foot early.
mrs miggins 0 Posted September 20, 2015 When teams have played at Anfield this season they''ve counter attacked 6P, West Ham being the best example. Even Bournemouth let Liverpool have the ball in the middle of the park, so personally i''d go with that as we have the players to really hurt Liverpool on the attack with our pace now. Also we aren''t that great defensively so having a good shape is key. If we were to play our normal game, keeping a fairly decent shape sometimes closing them down I don''t think it would work very well as they''''ll have too much time and space to pick us off. However, on the other hand you may be right. Liverpool are terrible at passing along their back line so if we get Jarvis (if he''s playing) Jerome, Redmond and Hoolahan (if he plays) to really press their back 4 we could also get a good result with a high pressing game. The problem with this if we don''t do it effectively enough this obviously creates more space behind our attacking line leaving us exposed. Also Liverpool have a big brute up top in Benteke...against Bassong and Martin; if we press in the right way the balls up to him won''t be good and he''ll be feeding on scraps, but again, if we don''t press well then it will be a long afternoon for our defence. I guess it depends how confident AN is in his team. Does he think we can press high effectively? We did it quite well doing this v Bournemouth, but Bournemouth were $hit and we were very good that day. Liverpool have better players, but haven''t had the start they would''ve liked, losing both their home games in similar fashions. Lets see how confident they are. Horse Renoir 1 Posted September 20, 2015 Can''t wait for this, I''ve just got a feeling that we''re going to get something here today--------------Ruddy---------------Whittaker Martin Bassong Olsson-------------Tettey--------------Redmond Howson Hoolahan Brady-------------Jerome----------------Rudd, Bennett, Mbokani, Lafferty, Dorrans, Jarvis, O''NeilI''m going for 3-3 with Howson, Brady and Mbokani for us, each goal an equalizer
mrs miggins 0 Posted September 20, 2015 Not really counter attacking or pressing, very strange.
morty 0 Posted September 20, 2015 I heard the manager has left Hoolahan out today so he can be used as a handy stick, if we get beaten....
mrs miggins 0 Posted September 20, 2015 The players don''t seem to be working hard enough for me at times, if we are going to let them have the ball, then we need to make sure there isn''t that amount of space around our box. Hopefully AN will have a ''wee chat'' at half time. Lucky to not be down imo.
