1. Good luck to all. I''m going for an away win for Bordeaux against Reims in Ligue 1 at a modest 23/20. For the Norwich bet I like a 3-0 Norwich win at 10-1.
2. It''s worth remembering that Blackpool have only conceded one goal (a penalty) in their last three games against Wolves, Watford and Brighton so our three goals today is not to be sniffed at (not that anyone was). I attended the game with a senior official from another club and whilst I don''t know much he rated Redmond very highly. We were lucky enough to be in the directors'' box and therefore immediately behind Murphy when he scored. The composure he showed when scoring that goal belied his age and experience. My friend also thought Turner was very solid, no frills but very dependable.
3. I''m going for West Ham to beat Man Utd at Old Trafford at 6-1. It was 8-1 earlier this evening so I''m not the only one thinking this might happen. For the Norwich bet, I''m going for 1-0 to Norwich, also at 6-1. Good luck Splutcho & Mr Apples.
4.
Wooster, 37% of adults... a Westminster government would kill for that level of legitimacy... if they cared.
That is a very fair point but the usual election process and its consequences are communal. In this referendum a greater proportion of UK residents were going to be impacted, without any direct involvement, than those participating.
5. Ricardo, 55:45 it was when all the votes were counted. Of course that ratio refers to the yes/no votes only. The Scottish Govt''s figure for residents 16 & over is 4.4million so the overall breakdown is: 3% didn''t register to vote; 15% registered voters didn''t vote 37% voted YES 45% voted No. So: (a) it was just over a third actively wanting independence; and (b) it''s surprising how much fuss under 3% of the adult UK population can cause.
6. In the Bundesliga, a home win for Mainz 05 (7th) against Borussia Dortmund (4th) at 4-1 looks attractive but I favour Dortmund to be buoyed by their defeat of Arsenal midweek and overcoming any lingering fatigue to earn a draw at 16/5 (dangerous though it is to tip two consecutive draws). For the Norwich bet (which I am yet to tip correctly) assuming we start slowly again I can see Birmingham scoring first but Norwich winning. Therefore, I like: (a) Norwich to win 2-1 at 15/2; or (b) Birmingham ahead at half-time, Norwich at full-time at 22-1 Good luck to all.
7. Got there too late, again. Could Bellamy have been sent off even though he only made his debut late in that season?
8. That can''t be Darren Eadie can it?
9. Kind words Parma, thank you - but you shouldn''t confuse luck with match-picking ability. It''s early days ......
10. Looking for a "value bet" I''m going for SC Paderborn 07 to draw with FC Koln, at 9/4. For the match bet I''m going for a draw at 21/10. Good luck all.
11. This might not be PC but I''m going to go for Switzerland to draw with England (at 19/10). Good luck
12.
I think he was an excellent player for the system we had. Parma, Does that mean he would not fit the current system under NA?
13. One for the early part of the season: £5 for every player in the following list who is still with us after the transfer window closes: Bassong Olsson Tettey Fer Redmod Pilkington Hoolahan Snodgrass Hooper Van Wolfswinkel Nigel, It''s good that we''ve kept as many players as we have and I''ll make sure £30 is on its way to you tomorrow.
14. 3-1 win over Luton in October ''71. I remember them chanting "Fertiliser" at the home fans. As a schoolboy we used to go to games if we were playing a Norwich school - we would be dropped off in town and hitch home from Daniels roundabout (or catch the train if we had any money left).
15. Good luck one and all. I was tempted to back Everton to draw (again) with Chelsea at 9/4, but prefer Swansea to beat WBA at 5/6. For the Bournemouth game I''m going for a 2-1 home win, at 15/2.
16. My (dubious) choices are: Everton/Arsenal draw (at 5/2); and Norwich to win 2-1 (17/2) As ever, look elsewhere to win
17. I like a Liverpool win against Southampton. For the Norwich game a 0-0 draw is 11-1?? but so is a 2-0 win so I''ll go for that. Good luck with the final picks & pass over these quickly.
18. This is my first attempt so have gone for wide odds. How''s about: Fleetwood 3-1 home win vs Crewe at 25-1 and Norwich win 2-1 at 11-1.
19. "I will resent, for the rest of my life, the fact that Hughton has spent the two largest fees on strikers in our clubs history to bring in players that didn''t work with the system he was planning to use." I think that is one of the most baffling things about last season - coupled with the fact that once it became apparent that was the fact, there was no alternative approach.
20. I''m amazed people are surprised. I got shot down at the time but these were two of my earlier posts on our chances (before we''d played): Sorry to be a wet blanket but I''m surprised so many people expect England to get out of its group - I''m not convinced that we have the nous to outperform Italy and Uruguay, when have we displayed that recently? In the last World Cup & Euros England has: beaten - Sweden, Ukraine & Slovenia drawn with - France, USA & Algeria lost to - Italy & Germany. I think Uruguay is probably between France/USA (the draws, ignoring a poor result against Algeria) and Italy/Germany (when we lost). Playing in South America should give Uruguay an advantage, hence my pessimism. I hope I''m wrong.
21. Joking aside, it is unclear how the squad will change over the next 11 weeks through to the closure of the window, so whether we have a good squad or not remains to be seen. And, as LDC says, the squad''s potential can be different from its actual performance. Until Christmas I''ll be less concerned about our position in the table than how we are playing - is there the basis for anticipating success or not.
