1. Our might manager was mentioned on Talksport Heads-Gone this evening. Apparently he has ruled himself out of the Spurs job - LOL. That''s going to disappoint a lot of people!
2. Yes, Sunderland had a big result midweek...but that was 2 hours of football. After all that elation, they will tire in the second half and we will nick a point through Hooper. 1-1.
3.
With RvW nearing a return to fitness, it is clear that we havent got the best out of him. I feel its more that simply him adjusting to the league, I feel we are not playing to his strengths. So imagine you''re the boss, you have a small pot of money in January for new players. What do you do to get the most out of your record signing?
The best way would be to get a manager that knows what he''s doing.
4. I think you will find that Nutty is one of those apologists that you are referring to.
5.
We finished above Southampton last season. Let''s see who finishes where this season befor making hasty judgements. Anyway, the reason Southampton changed was because they had a manager like Holloway and wanted to lay foundations like we are with Hughton...
We did indeed finish above Saints...that was last seasons before their man really got to grips with the players and the transfer market. Most folks would say he''s an upgrade on Adkins. Surprised you didn''t mention we beat them at CR as well - but as we all know, one game does not a season make. As we keep saying, the league table doesn''t lie. With regret, I don''t see us finishing above them this season, but we shall see Nutty.
6. Just a quick comparison...we didn''t know if Grant Holt was going to be good enough at this level until PL gave him a chance. Same for Ricky Lambert at Saints. Becchio may not be good enough but to find out surely he is worth more than 5 or 10 mins here and there? He is instinctive if we get a few more balls into the box! I don''t exactly see the other strikers we have as different class...look at this seasons stats. Hopefully Hooper will continue to improve and RvW should be back soon. I can''t understand why Becchio didn''t get more time in the League Cup matches.
7. Agree with most posts on here. But then consider Southampton. They had the vision to change when things weren''t exactly dire. Their board just thought they could do better and made a brave call. Not doing too bad are they? Hughton is not the right bloke for me but we need to be careful to upgrade rather than go like-for-like.
8. I think that often it''s a matter of fit. I don''t think PL is a genius but he was perfect for us at the time. Sometimes things click, but you need to judge over a career. The same with Martin Jol - he has not suddenly become a poor manager, but it''s just not working for him at Fulham. Plenty of top managers have a failure here and there on their CV. When it comes to Hughton I don''t think he is a good fit for us IMO. He did well last year to get us to 11th but this year doesn''t have the same feel even after all the money he spent. We all loved Mike Walker but look at what happened at Everton.
9.
I doubt we will get that many.We will probably be lucky to get 1 point out of the next 2 away games. IMO we will finish on or around 38 pts but this season I feel clubs will survive on 36 or even less
I agree with you on this one Yorkie. We will just survive IMO. I was relieved at FT yesterday but a dose of reality is needed - we beat the bottom of the league team and it wasn''t comfortable. Hughton and his management team should not be the ones to take us forward. We should be aiming to finish 11th at least given the investment but don''t see that. We have key players out so next couple of games will be tough.
10. Today was all about the result and it''s a good three points. I think it depends on what you want. I want Hughton out, but I have said that I think he will keep us up (just). The problem is most of us think that we should be doing much better that just avoiding relegation. We are now moving up but we can''t expect anything against LFC midweek (playing like that) and we will probably be back down a couple of places. Each time we play a lower-mid table team at home it becomes a 6-pointer and pressure on. I hope I am wrong and the confidence starts to build. OTBC.
11. We just need an early goal in the second half and that should be that. Good old Wes!
12. if if goes tits up tomorrow you wont get those odds again. I would have a fiver on it. Speculate to accumulate as they say. Better chance than lotto.
13. My thoughts are below: We sing for Becchio, But Hughton don’t want to know, We don’t need another draw, Luciano’s gonna score. Let’s be avin Becchio, Luciano Becchio, Show us what you can do, Hughton ain’t got a clue. We need our Becchio, It’s too soon for him to go, The gaffer just takes the P**s, That’s why he’s called Clueless Chris. We sing for Becchio, But Hughton don’t want to know, We don’t need another draw, Luciano’s gonna score.
14. Stop dreaming again nutcase...39 points possible from 26 games - will you be placing a bet on that? Remember to factor in the 10 game unbeaten run that we are due again soon! With hapless in charge forget about top half. A better question would be if we can get to 40 points and survival.
15. I''d prefer if he wasn''t in charge against Palace. Lose and it''s P45 time.
16.
Should one or both of the Murphys be given a chance to show what they can do ?....YES Should Becchio be given a chance to show what he can do ? ....YES Will either things happen ?......NO
I agree Reggie. LB must be really p**sed off by now. He has to be worth 45 minutes at least. I would probably use Josh as a sub but give him enough time...not 3 minutes at the end (the usually clueless trick).
17. The question is how long does the benefit of any doubt actually last? I think most reasonable folks felt like we would have a good idea after 10 games. The fact that we are currently out of the drop-zone after 12 games (just) and should climb the table with a win over Palace just masks over the real issues. Some folks will point out were have more points than this time last year - but we made a shocking start last year and only the unbeaten run (don''t see one of them coming this year) really turned the season around. I think he has had enough time. We are not playing great football, don''t score many goals, and concede far too many. That''s a recipe for the Championship. That said I still back us to get just enough points to survive as there are others struggling as well. But again, shouldn''t we expect a bit more after the squad investment? Get your coat Chris and close the door on the way out!
18.

Is it better to be swimming with wet pants or drowning with Rose (I mean yellow and green) tinted glasses? Goodnight Nigel...expect it''s time for your Horlicks. I''m off to wet my pants worrying about relegation (not).
The aroma of BS is probably far sweeter than you then Wolfy.[+o(] Sleep well and recharge your huff and puff[&][S]
No bad smells with the wolf - I prefer the Lynx effect...Mrs Wolf goes wild for it. It''s you that should be worried about huff and puff at your age! In fact it might be time to head out if it''s a full moon. I''ll leave the last word to you, I know you want to!
19. So how confident are you that we will equal last year''s position? I have made my opinion known and said I would admit if I were wrong at the end of the season...and from giving my opinion in an earlier post you intimated the wolf was "a chicken". How about if you''re wrong and things don''t turn out...sorry, I forgot, you just accept it. Wow, that''s pretty intimidating behaviour.

21. As others have said it would all be a gamble...but for me, sticking with CH is a bigger gamble. Last season is a long way off now. CH had a good spell at NU but they could see where it was heading...it wasn''t going to last. He did well for a time last year but the final two results masked things. Anyone who didn''t think Man City were on the beach...well look at what happened this year.
22. A lot more confident than us finishing 11th this year if we stick with Clueless.
23. Not you again...I thought I could smell the pungent aroma of BS. Now who is being negative? I guess you are going to tell us all about how long you have been around to see it all. Yawn!
