1.
Norwich never get really big money for players if he was anywhere else he would be 10 mil plus
No
2. For linear, read the literal translation, as in someone who believes that a particular occurrence or decision leads directly to a related end product: Example: ''HOW WE GORNA SCORE ANY GOOLS WITH ONE STROIKER UP FRONT NAEL''
3. Ah, the mythical bottle. Richard Keys says England should stop trying to play continental football and focus on attributes like ''grit'' and ''determination'' and ''pride'' Wild stab in the dark here, but I reckon you''d think he''s right
4. Given that Leroy was signed on a contract worth £4.5m And he did largely nothing in the Premier League to increase that value. However much a World Cup goal increases his value by it isn''t £5.5m. If a deal worth £4-6m is offered, I would take it. Leroy is a luxury we don''t have to afford in the Championship with Tettey and Johnson around, both capable holding players. That said, I would like him to stay, but used in rotation with the latter two- as superior as some of the more ''linear'' football fans consider him to be for some reason, if he couldn''t hack a 38-game season, he won''t hack a 46-game one without serious fitness work. What he does have is much more potential than Tettey and Johnson, as his ability to drive forward and pick a pass already outstrips much of their attacking ability. If anything I would say Leroy requires further work in training on anticipation and the standing tackle, much like Yaya Toure he flatters to deceive, though he is long of leg and very athletic and strong, neither are as good in the tackle as they are believed to be.
5. Given that McNally stated Adams was hired as a coach, not to deal with administrative matters, I highly doubt there''s anything to go by there. That said you are a sad excuse for a troll anyway.
6. I use farce not to beat or to blame the club. It is just that it looks like a joke on the exterior. Not saying it is in any way the club''s fault but to blindly insist it isn''t is as deluded as insisting it is. Either way it is a blow to our preparation, though we have no way of knowing how damaging it will be. (Not that you were doing either of the above NWC)
7. Yep, top stuff as usual Parma, that''s no lip service, pleasure to read something educated on here. Do you lend any credence to my theory (unnecessarily worrisome though it may be) that a fair bit of what Adams is doing is emulation of the stratagem of a Paul Lambert - i.e reverting to a diamond, bringing in a determined and bullish target man (Lafferty / Holt) as well as a pacy striker to attack the space behind the defensive line (Grabban / Jackson) As it worked for Lambert before him it could work again, but I just worry that Adams is operating in this way in lieu of his own ideas. That said, he will no doubt want to utilise his golden boy (Josh Murphy) - and rightly so, the lad has potential...as long as he doesn''t play him up front as he tried with Redmond at the end of last season!
8. If people just got on with talking about football instead of talking about talking about football, more people would be talking about football. It''s not difficult. So as to not be a hypocrite- the Italian tour is farcical though not entirely our fault, I would add though that it does make us look incompetent in a time post-Hughton where we really need to look competent and back in control of the situation.
9. The thing is GM people misunderstand what market value means. People say ''I want £10m for Redmond'' and think that means we''re getting £10,000,000 deposited into a bank account. Whilst it is plausible that a transfer for Redmond could eventually take that sort of value, I promise you in terms of how the market works it is delusional to expect any more than £6m up front and even that is pushing it. Here''s a likely deal for Redmond. £4m up front. + £2m if player plays in 25 games. + sell on clause of around 20-25% The £14m Borini deal will be similarly structured, but rise to that amount from an up front fee of around £5m. So we haven''t actually got £8m for Snodgrass and we certainly won''t get £10m for Redmond. The market is a myth, even Snoddy was overpriced at a deal worth £8m, Redmond certainly is at £10m
10. Nathan Redmond won''t leave as he isn''t ready for the Premier League and the clubs willing to pay the £5 or £6m he is worth (come on people in dreamland of £10m, with players like Crowley, Patrick Roberts, currently Raheem Sterling and Wilfried Zaha around there''s no way he''s worth that), are relegation threatened enough to not take multi-million risks on as-yet unfulfilled ball skills and shots into the stand. I like Redmond, and think he will one day cut it in the top half of the Prem but please wake up, just because he can do all the tricks you kids do on FIFA doesn''t make him a £10m player.
11. No, not unless we''re going to play Bastia first half and Celta Vigo second
12. I think in that scenario LDC, however happy Ruddy is here....he would be asking why our valuation of him is so unreasonable.
13. Someone else''s girlfriend is always more attractive than your own
14. I highly doubt RVW will leave. I also highly doubt John Ruddy is worth any more than £8m to anyone. He just isn''t quite that good. Vito Mannone is better (and would be cheaper) for starters, and this is coming from someone who thinks Ruddy is a good goalkeeper. I have no serious qualms about him he just isn''t a £10m player. Anyone who thinks me saying we offered Ruddy to Arsenal is in any way trying to stir the pot is wrong. I fully expected him to stay, as I knew we''d ask too much money and he isn''t unsettled. Point is Ruddy has obviously asked his agent to have a look and see what''s out there, but I don''t see what''s wrong with that.
15. An Arsenal supporting mate of mine tells me that John Cross of the Mirror (I know it''s the Mirror) who is usually very reliable on Arsenal related news, says that John Ruddy was OFFERED to Arsenal by Norwich City. Probably a case of Ruddy willing to move, agent after a pay day, we wanted too much money, but Ruddy is happy to stay so everyone''s happy. But going by the record of John Cross certainly we were willing to offer Ruddy to Arsenal, providing they met what was probably a £6-8m valuation.
16. Those who think that 11 men with no match fitness can run riot and score a load of goals have never tried to play 90 minutes of professional football. The players have also got to get used to what Adams wants them to do. That''s what preseason is for. Stop living in Football Manager land where we pay £10m for Jordan Rhodes and finish top unbeaten on 126 points and read a book about football.
17. To all ye who are dim The famous Invincibles of Arsenal in 03-04 pre season drew with Barnet and lost 4-0 to some Polish outfit. Some of your diatribe is really quite painful
18. City1st, I still haven''t seen you come up with an answer as to why exactly you feel the need to belittle those who pursue an understanding of football greater than the passionate casual. However I expect you''ll attempt to patronise me in the same way you do everyone else. Dullard.
19. Let''s attempt some keyhole surgery with power tools while we''re at it
20. I''m glad you''re willing to take one for the team Bor
21. If the people in charge of steering NCFC through ''silly season'' had the same attitude to ''silly season'' as you, we''d be in ruin.
