1. Dont be ridiculous. We all know that Doncaster, etc run the ship in the right way, and that does not mean we are heading for financial ruin, or we are "broke". Doncaster has mentioned before, as somebody has mentioned, that funds are there, but you have to remember that the club "smashed" their transfer record to bring in Ashton last year. A big gamble, which did not pay off, although he is still here (thank god!) So far, we have savings in the wages of Helveg (must have been a fair old whack), Mulryne (ditto), Jonson (it appears), Edworthy, Stuart, Holt and Bentley. Against that, we have Jarrett, Louis Jean and Thorne in the side. Plus, Francis is still uncertain, personally I think he will go at the eleventh hour with Primus coming here, plus we will see some other activity. Would not be at all suprised to see at least one other signing, possibly two, before the deadline. Who in our division has spent big this summer? My personal hope is that both Andy Johnson and Peter Crouch are sold. Effectively, both teams are over reliant on one player, and that can do us no harm at all.
2.
I have a few pet hates to add.... Marshall (The half a season Gunn broke his leg) Fleming (This season) Holt (This season) Clint Easton Managed by Bruce Rioch.
How can you criticise Marshall for that! Clearly, you were not at the Newcastle Home game then? No problem with the rest though!
3. Pretty sure you can pay on the gate, after all it is not the San Siro. Should be a good turn out though. Taking my son, 5 years old, first NCFC game (albeit a friendly). Lets hope he enjoys it!!
4.
in my humble opinion, the less complicated a chant is the better. you will never encourage many people to join in with chants when they dont know many of the words. the best chants to drive the team o...
In the words of Peter Kay, "How dare you!" On the Ball City is not "dirge", and although it may not be the most up to date song in the world, it is our song, which is unique to us. Long may it continue. Re new songs, how about these suggestions To the "Rupert Bear" tune, which will mean nothing to txt spk contributors, but:- 1) Jason, Jason Jarrett, everybody knows his name 2) The Amarillo song by AJ, superb 3) Ashton definitely needs a song, the usual mono-syllabic "dirge" used for him is toilet. Whatever happened to re-engineering the "Steeno" chant for him? Adopted by snake pit, but not by Barclay. What has happened? Surely the "Deano, Deano" cannot survive into next season?? 4) Peter Thorne''s magic hat song should be adopted too. Peter Thorne is magic, he wears a magic hat He could have stayed at cardiff, but he didnt fancy that He scores goals with his left foot, he scores them with his right And when we play at Ipswich, he''ll score all ****** night! OOooooohhh, Peter Thorne is magic, etc, etc 5) Also, fancy a que sera sera type chant for Francis. As we all know, he has a tendency to go to sleep during games, so how about a little "wake up call" When I was just a little boy I asked my Daddy, who is that man Is he sleeping, or is he awake, because it is hard to see Wake up Damo, Wake up Wake up Damo, wake up wake up Damo Wake up Damo. Any comments??
5. Yes, we do. Like yourself, we have opinion, comment, thoughts, questions and dilemma''s about the club we love. Aren''t bulletin boards great?
6. It is a fair price for a temperamental indifferent performer whose heart is not in the club. Primus as part of the package, say £1 million plus primus, and job done. Their valuation of him is fair considering that :- 1) He goes missing in games 2) He has not been the same since his injury 3) He doesn''t want to play for the club 4) He prances about like he is afraid to get his shorts dirty. Do it Mr Doncaster!!
7. Sorry Kenny, but cant share your sympathy for Dave Jones. A more arrogant, smug, and ultimately snide individual you could not meet. He knew what he was taking on. All we need now is Gabbidon or their other centre half, Collins, who is supposed to be just as good.
8. Indeed Kenny, just seen it on the BBC website. Seems like a shrewd move, good championship player, proven goalscorer, but hardly the big name that some people were expecting. Still, another shrewd bit of negotiation on our part, why spend if you dont have to? Would have been happier with a defender though!
9.
well excuse me im not 75 im 15 and i go 2 skol and its quicker 2 wite in slang but u guys probs 2 old to recognise and bentley is the best and ive got his boots!!!!
I bet your skol are pleased with your spelling.
10. OK the most easterly spell caster, it is a fair cop for me too. My name is Ian, I am 34 years old, live in Thorpe Hamlet, Norwich, and I am season ticket holder in the Thorpe Wing of the City Stand(on the snake pit fringe, as opposed to the werthers originals/check blanket on the knees section) I drink in the Mustard Pot pre and post match (excellent pub by the way), went to Southampton and Arsenal last year, but no other away games, and my user name, is a tribute to Mr Carey (well somebody had to!)
11. Totally endorse Templeton''s earlier comments re Gary Holt. A great player for us, and when players leave, I feel it is always better to concentrate on the positive contributions they have made during their time here. Yes, last season was difficult for him, but please dont forget his health problems last season, which would have forced some players to retire (and dont respond to this comment by saying that he should have done, as it will show you up for the small minded idiot that you are) On a personal note, his children go to the same school as my son, and I can only say that he is a very nice chap, as well as being a great father to his children. Good luck and thanks!
12.
If we signed him on a 5 year deal would it be LONG TERM PARKIN or If we signed him on loan would it be SHORT TERM PARKIN
13.
I know this has been asked about 3 times before but i am about to create him on Pro Evo (yes i know it sounds sad). but i need to know what sort of player he is... for example. in the pinkun story it...
And  yes, creating him on pro evo is sad. Get outside and play the game yourself!
14. He has hardly had the "we wish you well" you would have expected on the un-official wigan sites, despite prompting by some of us lot on here (you know who you are!) Apparently, he cant hit a cow''s backside with a banjo, he cant shoot, but he does cover "every blade of grass" and works hard.  Mmmmmmmm, ring any bells? I am not here to have a pop at him, so dont take this the wrong way and I am quite prepared to give him a great welcome at the beginning of his first home game. At the end of the day though, he is free, worthington knows him and obviously likes him, he has left the guarantee of premiership football to come here, and he is our first signing of the summer. Sam Parkin would also be welcome, but unfortunately I fear that Leon has been attracted back to London. West Ham maybe?
15.
I think Sven''s decision to leave him out of the England squad has done us a big favour. If Ashton had gone to the US he would have had it in the back of mind that he could possibly make the World Cup...
Spot on Saint Canary. The USA tour has certainly thrown a spotlight on the key players there, and I for one, am glad that Ashton did not make this tour. That Newcastle article is really good, and shows how much knowledge the geordies have about football matters.
16. I hope that they have a miserable season plagued with injuries, suspensions and mediocrity. I see that Paul Ince (what a lovely man) has signed a one year contract extension.   Great tradition maybe, but their arrogance and smugness means that they will never make my christmas card list.
17.
moi?
No, not you, the post''s author. Sorry for any mix up.
18.
I have a little girl. The point is though, if he really wanted to he could commute. Though as I said I will fully support him if he wishes to move to London for the sake of his family.
Fair play buddy.  Mixed views on whether he will go or not, hard one to call, but clearly he is a strong family man, so lets hope that he and his partner can sort things out between then.
19.
I really don''t see that would be much of problem. It''s not as if he is working 9-5 rigid hours. Should be possible to commute, although if he wanted to leave for those reasons then I would not hold ...
You obviously don''t have kids then.
