1.
well done worthy, it seems even he beleives he has created a one man team. by the sounds of those comments.  What an idiot.  Doesnt say much for how well he thinks his new players are doing. He is a fool. As i keep on saying he is in the process of dismantling all the hard work he had put in over the last few years and leaving us a team of cloggers.
A lot of people on these message boards have been saying "Sell Ashton, and our promotion chances have gone". Now Worthy has come out and said the very same thing, along with stressing how much the club do not want to sell him, and he gets criticised for it. But then that''s hardly surprising, seeing as you yourself seem to take every and any opportunity to get on his back.Clearly, you let one of the top strikers in the league go, and it''s going to affect your promotion chances, simple as really.
2.
I consider myself to be eminently reasonable, but I have reasonable grounds for believing that it is unreasonable to expect NW to lead us back to the Prem in a resonably short period of time. So am I unreasonably disqualified from membership for reasonably holding this opinion?
I think that''s the point though. Having your own opinion is more than fine, but stating it reasonably is the key. A lot of people will slag off those who don''t agree with them, which is what leads to the categorisation of fans IMO.
3. As opposed to some more criticism from the, foaming-at-the-mouth "what can we dig out to moan about today? "we should be european champions next season" brigade? What is it with idiots, being mouthy, and wanting to categorise everybody who doesn''t give them a pat on the back everytime they say something stupid?
4. I think a lot of people might fit into this group, they just tend to be a bit quieter and drowned out by the more extreme fans (and the wizards [;)])!
5. I don''t get the chance to go to as many home games as I''d like to, due to work commitments, but I went to both the Burnley and Preston games over Christmas. I thought in the first half at Burnley we were excellent, and made a team in a higher league position than us look like a conference side. However, the second half, and entire Preston match were dire by comparison.I don''t really think that fatigue can be used as an excuse, and whilst the squad is injury ravaged, we still have players that should be performing at this level. Worthy can obviously get the tactics right sometimes, but I agree, we look awful at times. However, there''s no doubt that winning 5 on the bounce is an achievement, so I''ll give Worthington his due for those results. The performance at the last home game really alarmed me though - the squad didn''t appear to really be interested in playing, and seemed to settle for a draw right from the word go. Crucially, it''s where we go from here - either back to winning ways, or back to the inconsitenent start to the season.
6. Yeah, that''s exactly what it''s like... (And there''s me thinking it was actually an award for doing something).Funny how some won''t give credit where it''s due, but are more than willing to dish out the insults and criticism.
7.
why has it taken Worthy nearly 5 years to start criticising his players though???  and i agree... Mourinho is a professional and criticises his players when needed.. not every week like Worthy now seems to thik is the norm... we have had 5 years of "i cant fult my players" no are we going to have 5 years of "my players are rubbish" before he gets the right mix? jas :)
I don''t agree with that at all - Worthington gives credit when credit is due, and it''s nice to see him do just to opposite when that''s needed too. If he''d have criticised the players and the results had become poorer, then I could see your point, but the fact remains we''ve won the last 5 on the trot, and Huckerby and McVeigh are playing absolute storming football (even having been ''unfairly'' criticised by the manager). Perhaps it''s time to give Worthy a bit of credit for clearly making the right decision?
8. I would argue that our board have a long-term view of the club''s development. We now have a stable financial infrastructure, with very managable debts, which we clearly did not have in recent years. We are not reliant on Premiership football to pay for our wages (I hope), nor are we a "selling" club any longer. We have an incredibly strong Championship squad, which the management team have assembled without spending a lot of money, as proven by our recent performances, and I would be more than happy to reach the playoffs this season (although I don''t think 2nd place is beyond reproach just yet).I do think there''s a little more to the Dean Ashton transfer speculation that meets the eye; I am sure the board would not let him go unneccessarily, but perhaps some sort of "gentleman''s agreement" was made with the player regarding his future, because of Dean''s change in tact regarding a move. I would love to see the board issue a hands'' off warning, but in reality, 10 million would go a hell of a way to strengthening our squad. Judging by his spat with Worthy at the Burnley game however, it looks like Dean is quite passionate about the club, so I would hope he would hang on for just a little longer. I would be gutted if Dean went for any less than 8 million following Crewe''s sell-on fee, but there''s no doubt in my mind that he should be playing in the Prem.Let''s just hope we can continue our rich vein of form and that Dean can be persuaded to stay for just another 6 months until we get to Cardiff (or possibly Wembley). At the end of the day, I don''t really think we can turn down 10 mil if the player wants to go. If he wants to stay, then I hope we would turn down any offers regardless of their price. Whilst it''s all well and good to say that the club don''t NEED to sell him - unfortunately, we live in times of player power.Perhaps we should scrap the Worthy Out campaign, and put our efforts into a Dean Stay campaign to show him just how much he means to the club?!
9. I think Worthington was right in this situation. At times we were playing exhibition football - fair play if we''re three up, but I wonder how many of you would be slating the manager had the worst come to the worst and Burnley got something from the game, when in reality the players really let their foot off the gas.We have got to learn to close games out properly. Burnley had one shot on target throughout the entire match, yet there was still a nervy finish. The amount of times we stood off players and let them get crosses in was unbelievable, yet we were still trying to take the p**s at the other end of the field. Personally I would have taken Hucks off on 70 minutes when he appeared to be fatigued, and brought someone like Brennan on to sure up the defensive side of the squad.A plus point though, we did look twice the side Burnley did in the first half, and I can understand the players wanting to conserve energy. In the end it was a comfortable win and we now have 3 winnable games. 5/6 wins out of 7 would really put us in contention for the playoffs.
10. Possibly coincidence, but I think Fleming and Doherty have looked just as solid as Doherty and Davenport were. Why are some people so reluctant to give people their dues?Fleming''s been a great servant to the club and has put some excellent, professional and experienced performances in recently. Fair play to the guy - he''s STILL a very good Championship defender, and I don''t really know how anyone can argue with that.
11. I have to say it''s starting to irritate me - the number of posts made EVERY day picking up Worthington on things he hasn''t even said or done yet. It''s just whinging for the sake of whinging, which is not only pathetic, but also counter productive.
12. So let''s just say we lose to Crewe, and Worthington goes... it gets to the end of the season - results haven''t improved under the new manager, and we get relegated by a point. Would you all be so happy about us losing then, or would it be a case of blaming the board for not getting rid of Worthington permenantly? Yes, Worthington''s time has come to an end, but to wish a loss on us when there''s no guarantee we''ll pick up the points later on in the season is nothing short of pathetic.
13. Post count currently at 2,400 - but I wonder how many of those posts have actually been worthwhile? 10% perhaps?
14.
Keep the faith mate, keep the faith, lol he he.
You just keep deflecting away from any questions asked to you, lol he he, you mug! Of course, I mean that in a friendly and humorous way!
15.
Morty & Herb: The Laurel & Hardy of the message boards!. The only way the KTF brigade can try and deflect criticisim away from their beloved leader/manager is to insult the poster doing it. The above two are very keen on this transparent tactic. There''s always a nasty little jibe with them, in fact to post without an insult is quite beyond them. Well they''ve failed again, a bit like Worthy I suppose. At least you''re consistant boys, very unlike Worthy!.
Am I the only person who sees the irony in this?!
16.
Not pedantry, I think the author spelt that term correctly but has no idea what he is talking about !
As I''m sure you know, an IP address is associated with a specific ISP anyway, so it''s not as if the two terms aren''t connected. Anyway, I think we all knew what the original poster was getting at, and his point may still be valid even if he did mention the wrong acronym!
17.
Shaky?, a bit like Worthless''s tactics then macdougall!.[;)]
So I take it that as you are resorting to your usual child-like tactics (and completely avoiding the actual subject of your own thread), you have nothing to say to counter the many points that have been put to you in this thread Wizard? Interesting. Seems to me like you assume you''re the oracle of all knowledge, yet conveniently forget to answer anything constructive that doesn''t agree with your point of view, before resorting to childish insults and the whole "oh you''re so mean to me, I''m going to leave this board" attitude. Oh well, each to their own I suppose!
18. Yeah, and website polls are often fully representative aren''t they Wiz?!
19. You''re a bloody drama queen Wiz! We''ve had one underperforming half of a season and you''re already declaring us dead. The club has seen far worse times than this - financially we are doing ok, and are well managed. In the long term, that is the most important thing. Then again, you''re clearly not interested in the long term picture are you!?
20. Yes, but as far as I''m concerned, Robinson turned in an excellent performance and is an experienced professional. Rossi still has a lot to learn, and in our predicament, I would rather Worthington played the proven players. Besides which, if Rossi turned in an awful performance I''m sure the usual crowd would be the first to chastise Worthington for playing our youngsters rather than experienced, quality players. By all means slate Worthington for his poor decisions and mistakes, but this witch hunt is becoming increasingly tedious.
21. Mmmmm, pedantry at its best. Or were you just trying to deflect attention away from the actual point of the post, by referring to incorrect spellings?
22.
You''d like that wouldn''t you?. Well my answer to you contains two words ''Get Lost''. Sorry, but I have a right to question decisions made by our overpaid fool of a manager, and I will continue to do so whether you like it or not!.
Well you''re clearly entitled to voice your opinion 1st Wiz, but let''s be honest, you do moan about anything and everything. So many rants == far less weight to each rant, but there we go, that''s your choice. Plus, the level of personal insults you include in your posts pretty much undermines any point you''re trying to get across. Back to the topic of the post, the details of the contract clearly haven''t been revealed - after all, there could be any number of clauses which we don''t know about. However, fair play to Worthy for at least allowing the basic facts of his employment to be released; I have to say I find his honesty quite refreshing, regardless of the team''s current predicament. Perhaps the board just have more faith than we do? Clearly the buck stops with the manager, but I would say it is our overpaid, underperforming, squad that are equally to blame - perhaps we should start terminating their contracts as well. Cheers, Ian
23.
The following remark isn''t so much racist as it is a given fact: African, as with most Asian footballers that play in the English league are injury prone athletes and they''re especially prone to injur...
Perhaps replace "given fact" with "sweeping generalisation" shyster and your post might make sense.
24.
Erm...perhaps you should put ours back in the sand. How come the players are beyond criticism?? In your eyes, they do no wrong?? If a player can''t get himself motivated to pull on the jersey then perh...
Quite, but the majority of posters don''t seem to want to let sense get in the way of baying for blood. Just out of interest, if the team did turn it around and start playing blinding football, and we did make it into the playoffs -- would people still want Worthington out? Alternatively, if Worthington was sacked, and Green/Ashton/Hucks/Safri went, and we still get relegated (a la Forest), would people still say sacking Worthington was the right thing to do?
25.
This is aimed at you ''yes men'' who attended last nights AGM and supported Worthy. Well done!, and I trust you''re all proud of yourself. By your course of action, ie. allowing an inept manager to rem...
You''re such a bloody drama queen Wiz! If people who actually part own the club wish to back the manager, then that is entirely their own business - and I don''t think that as somebody so intolerent to others'' opinions and views, your thoughts are particularly going to change their minds. Really, regardless of his managerial capabilities, Worthy does make sense regarding the message boards - things seem to have reached almost an hysterical level now, to the point where people apparently want the majority shareholders (who''ve put a lot of their own personal money into the club) to sell up and leg it; ridiculous if you ask me. I also find it quite amusing that people on the boards are now trying to indicate that the AGM was staged/fixed in some way by the board (which is possible, but pretty unlikely IMO), rather than just accepting the logical explanation that perhaps more supporters, or shareholders at least, are behind the club''s current management that is shown by the level of postings on the message boards.
