  1. That was a very strong year. This year is okay, not strong, not weak either - pretty standard I'd say.
  2. They'll struggle next year for sure, but they may have a plan to go up, go down and then set themselves up to go up again and stay there... the problem when we did that is that we sold our best player and replaced him with dross. Ultimately, they're in a great spot to kick on if they get it right...but it's hard to get right as we know.
  3. They look a bit like us under Lambert. Not great players but one or two who are the real deal and they have unbelievable spirit, fitness and belief. They'll struggle next year but so does everyone who goes up. Fair play to them, they've done better than I thought they would.
  4. Exactly this. These fans who still want him gone at the end of the season do my head in. Bearing in mind the injuries we had in the autumn and losing Pukki, Krul, Aarons and Omabamidele at the start of the season he's done remarkably well. Get behind him coz football isn't just turning up and winning the championship. It's sometimes about finding a way to get results and having a bit of spirit to get through the bad times. This team and manager have that. We're not always going to have the best players in the league and it's not the correct decision just to fire a manager everytime we're not exceptional at this level. Wagner isn't Pep, or Klopp, or Ancelotti, but neither is he Glenn Roeder, Peter Grant or Bryan Gunn. He's decent and we could do (and have done) far, far worse.
  5. Coventry's home form isn't exactly fortress material, but there's interesting stats around playing away midweek within 3 days of your last game that every team suffers. It's by no-means a slam dunk for the binners and Coventry are a decent team at this level. Nothing would surprise me in this game - a 3-0 home win or a 3-0 away win are both very possible.
  6. He's not. He's one of their best players.
  7. I agree. They're very fit and have plenty of heart and that has been enough in a poor league this year, but they're low on quality. Davis is clearly very good and I like Broadhead but other than that, there's not a lot there. They look second best again tonight.
  8. Those are my feelings too. We can definitely beat Ipswich, I'm not convinced we can beat Leeds over two legs. I want a draw or Hull Win.
  9. He's a great manager and I'd have him back in a heartbeat. However, a legitimate criticism of him is that he makes subs too late.
  10. Leeds have choked in a massive way that I never saw coming. Even Ipswich can't mess this up from here. What a terrible evening.
  11. Pretty tinpot but us selling tickets to the re-run of the Bayern Munich game (which happened 30 years ago) the other week was right up there in tinpottery.
  12. Come on Leeds. Desperate for them to win.
  13. This is the correct answer. Never has the term 'athlete with football boots on' been more apt. The lad could barely kick the ball straight and positionally was the worst of the worst. His physicality covered up many, many ills.
  14. The problem with this is it doesn't take into account the assist to the assist to the assist etc etc. Where does this end? Is it Jack Stacey who deserves the credit, or Ben Gibson or Angus Gunn? How far back do you go? I'm also not convinced the stats would play out that well in your example anyway. A number 8 in high performing teams should have better numbers than he does. There really is no arguing that. It's just facts.
  15. Let us also remember that in Worthy's title winning campaign Craig Fleming beat Darren Huckerby and Gary Doherty won it in 2006. I don't think today's winner says what a lot think it does. Night all.
  16. What tosh. So I give you tangible, quantative evidence of how (in very good teams) he doesn't produce the numbers and you say "but yeah he is good actually". Try harder.
  17. We're ignoring Gunn, Stacey, Nunez then?
  18. My problem with this is if we go up. I've said before, he's acceptable at this level (not POTS quality, but acceptable), but in the PL we have now guaranteed him 30+ starts and another bottom placed finish. The club should have moved beyond these types of players, but we haven't and that is the problem.
  19. Have you seen his goals and assists numbers? Even at Championship level they read:- 137 games 6 goals 20 assists For a man who has spent the vast majority as a number 8 in two title winning teams and another that will make the play offs. Those are appalling. If you add PL stats stick another 68 games on there with... two goals and one assist. Truly embarrassing numbers for that position. Contrast that with Sara for me please.
  20. He's been fine in the sense he hasn't been awful. But that's because he just plays as a sweeper. I could do that. He contributes nothing offensively and has no instincts defensively. He basically looks good because he's better on the ball than our centre backs, which he bloody ought to be. How can people think he deserves it more than any of Sara, Rowe, Sargent or Sainz. There are one or two others that haven't been as good as those four but have been at least as good as Kenny (Gunn, Stacey, Nunez). Absolute joke. I will not be getting there early to see him pick up the award! I just can't get my head round a fan going through the candidates in their head, which for 95% of fans would include at least two of those I've mentioned and then goes 'yep, Rowe did score loads but Kenny has been so brilliantly solid and has played every game. I'm picking Kenny.' Or 'yes, Sara has got over 20 goal involvements this season and occasionally has touches of absolute class but Kenny has been captain and that counts for a lot in my book. I'm picking Kenny.' Idiots. Nicely put on a WhatsApp group I'm in.
