  1. Lambert - Defensive Midfielder Culverhouse - Defence Worthington - Defence Livermore - Midfielder Rioch - Defensive Midfielder Hamilton - Defender Walker - Goalkeeper Deehan - Attack Stringer - Defence Williams - Midfielder Brown - Defence Machin - Defence Our most successful management teams have ALWAYS been defensive minded. Strikers and Attackers rarely seem to make managers and coaches. Why? Who knows. Maybe strikers tend to be free spirits slightly and require less organisation, control and awareness of what is going on in ALL areas of the pitch. Yes, we can constructively criticise the current management team for their negligence in certain areas, but the fact we don''t have an attacking coach is completely irrelevant in my opinion. If an attacking coach was so important, then how come to my knowledge over the past 30 years only John Deehan has been any form of attacking coach the club has had at a first team level? This should not be an issue - history tells us that.
  2. Mottys immortal line following Mark Bowens goal to put Norwich 2-0 up in Munich after 30 minutes. So dear old Motty recalls that he only said that line because he had been on the Fantasy Football League programme with Baddiel and Skinner. Well I''m afraid his memory is getting a bit clouded (not for the first time!) as that show didn''t even start until 2 months later. It was also not until the 2nd series 12 months later that the programme really became popular, so the line used in the Munich game was most certainly original at that time, way before any actual "Fantasy Leagues" we''re invented! Perhaps Motty could have made a few quid by copywriting his statment!!! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fantasy_Football_League
  3. In the 5th minute. Appreciation for the big man in a similar way Villa fans did for Petrov. How about it? I think it would be a great touch if we could get enough weight behind this. #6ft2 #bigdunc
  4. Final player to be named in the matchday 16 of our final European match away to Inter Milan in 1993 that is still playing professionally 20 years later - that''s some record. Well done Jamie.
  5. Wazzy, not sure how you conclude that the club have not advised how they are to spend this money this season.  There have all ready been the well-documented following incentives: Free travel to Hull Subsidised 50% of the match tickets at Stoke Free travel Man Utd £10 off tickets to Man City Unsure what more communication you are expecting form the club, but these seem great incentives so far!!  More to come throughout the season from what McNally said last night as well.
  6. Hmm, I notice the Reverend only joined this messageboard on 30/8/13!!  Some fan you are!!  If you wanted a stronger, more physical type player up front, then I dare say you''d prefer ''big'' Alan Lee up front instead then!?  This isn''t the Championship, my blue-nosed friend!  Slightly more guile needed in this league than a few big lumps up front!! Haha, enjoy your mid-table mediocre Champ season once again, my friend :)
  7. From my position in the stand today, it looked suspiciously so! I hardly recognised him when he came out of the tunnel at half time! Anyway, if it is then good luck to the lad - why not.
  8. Just looked on the Premier League website and noticed one of the linemen for tomorrows game is Richard West. Sound familiar? He was the linesman away at Arsenal in April when his eagle eyed through a crowd of players at a corner, towards the far post, spotted a shirt pull, despite both players being at it. Anyway, he''s running the line at our game again tomorrow!
  9. Away to both Manchester clubs in the space of about 4 days!
  10. We have more chance getting Archie McAuley back! It ain''t gonna happen and we have moved on from PL. Change the record.
  11. Bliey, I forgot we used to play in ORANGE! Thank god for the move to TRUE YELLOW !!
  12. The statement release on Thursday by NCFC seems a similar sort of tone to me as the one released by the Freddy Mercury estate over the Freddy gorilla - a bit overkill, too corporate sounding and seems to have lost a bit of the personal understanding. Or maybe the Premier League have driven the statement? The truth is in there somewhere and it will be due to money somewhere!
  13. Is it me or is there a certain irony in the fact that people bemoaned Robert Chase in the early 90''s for putting bricks and mortar before before squad strengthening, yet people now questioning why we are not getting on with the rebuilding of the new City Stand quicker? Hmmm...
  14. The Snakepit corner, or Thorpe Corner as its officially known, was first opened for the Bayern Munich home game. Believe it or not, but in those successful early PL days, Carrow Road rarely sold out (just against the top 4 or 5 teams as a rule). As that corner was a new area and opened mid-season, nobody had a permanent season ticket there for that 1993/4 season. Then 1994/5 saw relegation to the Endsleigh League and the poisonous Chase Out atmosphere. from then onwards, attracting crowds was always a big struggle, with this corner rarely used - most seats remained empty during this spell. Even the lower Barclay was often sparse on the wings during this time (seats were actually first come first served in the lower Barclay and River back then). To try and fill empty seats, which I think was a big initiative of Delia when she came in back in 1997, was to sell to school kids for £1. In addition, unemployed were able to claim a ticket on presentation of a UB40. It was the Snakepit corner that was identified for those unemployed to sit for free/little. Hence how some unemployed could be deemed to be a little raucous, should we say. No doubt those unemployed back then have remained in those seats ever since, eventually turning that free ticket into a season ticket. It was then this raucous atmosphere from the corner that was nicknamed the Snakepit. I seem to recall them ''hissing'' in the early days which led to their name being donned.
  15. Haha, fair enough Jas but I really do remember it clearly. Would be good to hear someone else''s thoughts on this!
  16. King of Spain spotted in the city this lunch.  Am I right in thinking he remains a free agent?  Would be surprised if a Champ club doesn''t snap him uup - he''s got a decent CV with 2 promotions under his belt and is a good squad player.
  17. I''m afraid you''re wrong Jas. Song 2 by Blur WAS played in this era, but as goal music prior to Samba de Janeiro being settled on. As nobody seems to recall it, the corner music was actually the Riverboat Song by Ocean Colour Scene (the bit they used to play on TFI Friday).
  18. 4) meant to say it was v Bolton at home.
  19. On the subject of goal music; 1) In which game did Norwich first play music immediately after scoring a goal? 2) who scored that NCFC goal? 3) what was the music/song played? 4) In the Carling Cup 3rd round of 1998, (which we lost on pens), a music experiment happened in this game which was not successful. What was it exactly and what was the song in question?
  20. Vanwink, it''s run by the Sunday league. See this link... http://www.norwichsundayleague.co.uk/content/view/16/8/
  21. Chicken, there are still 9 Sunday leagues. 8 normal and 1 under 19 development league.
  22. Ha, just posted this in another thread above, without having read your message here! We''ll probably go with Bassong, Turner and Whittaker today then.
  23. Like Norfolkngood, I''m not sure if it would benefit from the player being named. Check my past, i dont post unsubstantiated rumours and not going to start now. Let''s just say that the buying club is Arsenal then. Happy?
