  1. The negativity around the performances in those 2 games has not been about entertainment. It's been about a lack of control and the fact that they've very much been lucky wins. Bar that 2 minutes in Cardiff Wagner's probably gone. Bar the 1 shot on target going in we draw against one of the worst teams in the league.
  2. I don't even think this entertainment first line you're pushing is right with a majority of City fans. I think a majority would be happy with a more defensive/countering/whatever approach if it felt sustainable.
  3. Smith and Wagner are very similar. Both have good and bad runs but mostly bad. I think Smith had won 3 in 15 at the time of his dismissal and things clearly weren't looking like changing. Wagner is sitting on a very similar record as we speak.
  4. I'm really not though, I want Wagner gone too. It was a pure comparison with Smith based on the other poster's comment. I agree with you.
  5. Harsh on Wagner. He's has 2 runs of winning results supported by a pretty entertaining brand of football. Smith's winning run of games in the Championship still managed to be a poor watch most of the time.
  6. Farke won 6 across a season and a third in the premier league. Smith won 4 in 2/3 of a season. Smith probably did edge it although it's both relegation form. Both ended with massive awful runs, Smith 1 win in 16 and Farke 1 in in 11.
  7. A majority of the cultish behavior I've seen on this forum has actually been from you, LYB. Vehemently defending the man in charge, be it Smith or Wagner, when there's nothing to defend. I didn't make excuses. There was enough on the pitch that season to suggest that we would actually be fine going forward. We got 97 points in the next Championship season.
  8. He was negotiating chaos behind the scenes at Leeds during the early part of the season. He'll likely finish second and then will probably be given a significantly more fit for Premier League squad than he was ever given here.
  9. Somewhat but also the Premier League has changed a lot in the last decade. There was loyalty shown and loyalty rewarded with Farke but I don't consider it anything too much. There were a lot of good performances in that Premier League season before Covid hit and we capitulated.
  10. This sentiment would make more sense if the club had chosen to actually try and recruit for the Premier League that season and not just pay off debts. The only reason fans are so stuck on Farke is because the two following him have been so poor, also.
  11. We were in a much stronger place financially when we sacked Farke, I think that probably answers that question. We desperately need the next one to go well.
  12. Pretty sure he'd have gone after Cardiff but for that 2 minute spell. It was such an obvious time to get a new manager in, like the World Cup break last season with Smith. We don't want to become a club that sacks managers every 6 months but we have to be clinical when it's obvious to 99% of people that it's not working.
  13. Nope but I do think giving a manager as much time as possible to get his style/philosophy across ahead of next season would be beneficial.
  14. Wagner ditched his philosophy to try and get results. Even in the first 20 mins yesterday we still regularly had 11 men behind the ball.
  15. I'd say it's been a lot longer than that. We needed another one for at least 3 or 4 years when Tettey was still here. Granted we did sign one in Mulumbu, for whatever reason it didn't work out.
  16. No strategic value in replacing a manager that's won 3 in 13 (2 of those wins being lucky to say the least)? Sure. Doesn't need to be a name or an experienced candidate. There are plenty of managers in world football that would jump at the chance to manage this club in the Championship. The only way not replacing him makes sense at this point is if we have a manager lined up that's seeing out his contract somewhere.
  17. Their bubble has somewhat burst a little of late but they're still miles better than us with a squad that costs a fraction of ours.
  18. It's obvious Wagner isn't going to get playoffs and it's unlikely we'll get relegated. Appointing a new manager that aligns with Knapper's blueprint makes sense. New manager can use this season to get his ideas into players' heads and we'll hopefully be in a stronger place come the start of next season. I don't believe that a guy who has learned from Wenger, Emery and Arteta would want a manager like Wagner. If course I am just assuming there. We obviously should have sacked him before Knapper's arrival. The recent wins were like wins under Smith, without a performance to match the results are rarely sustainable.
  19. There was more guile and creativity from Sainz in 15 mins last night than Hernandez in his last 2 games. All Onel seems to do these days is misplace passes and foul people, Of course a few times he will enthusiastically dribble the ball 15 yards before misplacing a pass or fouling somebody. Useless player.
  20. Who could have seen this coming when he got his new deal last season.
  21. Like Barnes but much like Hanley he isn't the answer on his own. We were ****e in the few matches after the Sargent injury in which he was still playing. On a positive note Idah and Hwang have looked a lot more like footballers in the last few games so maybe one of them can strike up something with Barnes.
