1.
There was no best midfielder today, they were all pretty awful.
Was Wes the worstest?
2. Really KIO? I cannot comment on his performance v QPR because I was not there, but I think the commentary team described him as the best midfielder today. The games I have seen always seem to be Wes coming on with only a few minutes left when we are losing and there seems nothing to be able to guage him on this season. What did you see him do wrong?
3.
If he was British or not Webber’s appointment the axe might ha e come a while ago. Fans have been brainwashed into thinking we should be patient with this new set-up yet there has been no progrsssion with the playing style all season. We struggle to score goals. We struggle to defend well unless we play deep and play keep-ball - see point above. Farke leaves his subs too late and rarely changes a game - no plan B. Only going to get worse once the last of our good players are sold to balance the books. If anybody can list how they think the football has progressed at all this season, I’d genuinely love to hear it. Fewer goals, fewer points, abysmal home record and a lower finish. Farke and Webber have taken us backwards.
I am sure there will be some expert statisticians along later to prove how far we have come, especially since the home draw against Burton. I will offer up a live (as I type with game in progress) improvement so you''ve something to be going on with. Our defence has greatly improved. On average we conceded 1.5 goals per game last season. Now it is only 1.25.
4. I can assure you Wundaboy that i am not delusional.
5. Would it be wrong for Norwich fans to go and fill Portman Rd till the end of the season? Just to send Webber a little message. I suppose if it was something to consider it would be wrong to do it while the play-offs are still possibility for either of us.
6. It is too early to talk about this while the play-offs are still possible.
7. I don’t recall anyone dying from standing. There were 1792 road deaths reported in 2016. I don’t recall someone like Lord Justice Taylor insisting we ban motor transport. The whole thing was a farce. Every fan should have the opportunity to stand. Just like you have a dance floor at the disco for those that want to dance and seats around the edge for those that don’t. When a bit of trouble occurs on the dance floor they don’t insist on everyone only being able to sit. Despite the popularity of oopsupside your head. I don’t understand how anyone who wants to sit can complain or have any objection. It’s not like people who want to sit won’t be able to.
8. I get you Rogue B. I can’t be bothered today, keep thinking I’ll just have a relaxing afternoon instead. I know I’m gonna end up going but there is no desire. Hopefully I will be back later saying what a great game it was, hopefully. No belief, just hope.
9. Renewed without second thought, I’m a persistent and serial renewer. Although, I have definitely not enjoyed this season. However, I will be keep a coming while one of two things happen, either we improve or we will have a new manager/head coach.
10.
@keelansgrandadYet I''d guess the vast majority of us have done exactly that at some point in our lives -- taken a step back to move forward I mean. Re. trying again, the heartening thing this time is that it isn''t just another all change, all the eggs in one basket managerial gamble.
I really do think it is quite interesting how we all see things so differently. For starters it seems to me that at Norwich we have never put so many of our eggs into the one basket as we have at the moment. Odd. Also I wish to apologise to anyone I may have argued with on this thread. I must have misunderstood. If we are going backwards to move forwards then we are on track! We are definitely going backwards so if that was the plan all along then yes, we are on plan which is technically going forwards. I feel such a fool that I didn’t realise.
11. Hi Westie, I think you will find that I have already explained this in this thread, in simple terms. If not in this thread it is probably in the “webberlution” thread. While you’re reading through you’ll probably find I’ve asked you a couple of questions that you have not responded to. I’m not going to go into greater detail because it is quite complexed and I don’t intend to make the pinkun messageboard my full time recreation area. However, the simple explanation should be enough for the purpose of this discussion board.
12. Deffo my fault NN. It worked in my head but not when typed. My only real criticism of anything NCFC is that I think the current manager should have changed tactics several games ago. I do believe that our players are capable of better results playing under different tactics. I think it is always too easy to criticise our club. I tend to think you can only blame them in hindsight, when things have gone wrong. I think the club has done well since 2009 (and at times before but for this threads purpose 2009).
13. Sorry nutty, I did not make my sarcasm clear. I do not think you are being short sighted and I personally have been happy with the management of this club. I think we have had (overall) a great time since our promotion from league 1. I have already asked on this thread when this so called mismanaging occurred. I do have a different opinion to you with different tactics for home and away. I think that is and always had been a consideration for different coaches and teams depending on opposition, positions and player availability etc but I wasn’t seriously making that point. Apologies.
14. Oh nutty, and in response to your question we need to ask Alex back for the home games and let Daniel take care of the away games.
15. You need to look at the bigger picture Nutty, you are being too short sighted. There seems to be a few in this thread that have identified that our problems, the poor management have been needed to be sorted for years, not just all the awful time that Alex ruined our club. I really do wonder what some have been watching.
16.
@keelansgrandadDon''t disagree with any of that. We do have players who are comfortable with what they are being asked to do; others much less so, and that has the effect of slowing everything down. You don''t need Man City quality to play a progressive, passing game, but you do need players with the necessary confidence and understanding.
Please share your facts Westie, give me the benefit of your knowledge. Who are the players less capable of doing what they are asked to do and therefore slowing everything down?
17. So Westie, when was the unsound football of the last few years? Few years? You said something similar the other day about the changes being required for sometime. What is your statmag saying to you, what are you seeing from your armchair? I think I’ve been watching quite a successful club since our relegation to League One with relatively sound football. Making reasonable attempts to survive in the premier league and performing well in the championship. Even last season when unsuccessful at returning to the premier league we enjoyed one of the best ever seasons at Carrow Road. Your stats are not adding up. Perhaps a little less time in the virtual world and finding a way to spend some time in the real world might be required.
18. The blog seems to be based on a lot of what the same people are saying. I’m interested in knowing more about this group of the same people. How many of them are there? Where were they located? How were their views gathered?
19.
"You don''t achieve the perfect balance by sacrificing defensive solidity; you achieve it by improving your attacking play on the foundation of defensive solidity"Which is precisely what DF says is his current pre-occupation. So yes, we are moving forward, slowly, and with purpose.
So just because our Daniel is now considering focusing on improving our attacking performance we are considered to be moving forward when in reality we are on track for our worst league position since 2008/09 (I will give you 2009/10 if you want). Surely this is laughable. At the moment NCFC are definitely not moving forward!
20. “Players going all out and playing without inhibition". The siren call of English lower league football and -- until very recently -- youth teams. The prerequisite for playing without inhibition is quite simple: team-wide confidence that you can do so without sacrificing sound defensive structure and conceding goals. Without that it''s simply a recipe for entertaining failure, as we experienced under Adams and Neil, and were harshly reminded of on Saturday. You don''t achieve the perfect balance by sacrificing defensive solidity; you achieve it by improving your attacking play on the foundation of defensive solidity. You can’t see the inhibition Westie on your tv screen when we attack. I am not advocating the team ignores all defenceive tactics as I think I tried point out. If you are going to copy and paste a sentence you should try and debate it in context. “Players going all out and playing without inhibition". Was mentioned as how we have played when we were losing with little time left remaining. Not as a recommendation for how to play. Come on, stop trying to have a smart4rse argument against something that wasn’t said and you haven’t seen.
21. I think your point Rogue Baboon also highlights the problem of the tactics and a sign that it can be resolved. In simple terms we battled defensively hard in those games you mention. We did not look like we were going to be winners but we gave extremely good performances. When we went behind and had nothing to lose the whole team went into attacking mode, attacking in numbers at pace. Players going all out and playing without inhibition. Actually showing some of the skills that they possess. It is impossible to say what would have happened but I am certain that if our players played with a little more freedom (I don’t mean with gay abandon before the sarcastic comments rain down) and we commit more players to attack (especially at home), attack at greater pace that this team is capable of better results and would be further up the table.
