  1. I fully agree with your sentiments. I live just down the road in Hampshire and have just got back from another depressing Saturday watching a collection of mercenaries and mediocrities - and David Marshall who is very good. It is hard to call this shower a team, more like a bunch of individuals who happen to be wearing the same colour shirt. Lita is the biggest waste of space imaginable - if, like me , you know Reading fans you will know that they hate him and it is easy to see why. Sibierski is poor as well and contributes very little. Bright points from today ? Croft and Russell looked like they were up for a fight, Fozzy had his best game for a while. Clingan looks a good buy. Drury started well and Doc is back in contention. Common factors ? They are Norwich players...not mercenaries. We will need spirit and fight in the relegation fight to come.....BUT above all we need someone to SCORE GOALS !
  2. Ched''s goals kept us out of League One. Who is going to do that jobthis time round.
  3.  Quote.........kennedy played a bigger part than rivers in our promotion run.  and its going forward that the old team has far more quality..................Wasn''t it Kevin Cooper who was the final piece in the jigsaw that season ? A very good pro who fitted in from the first game and played most of the run in . Jim Brennan was also involved and scored a great goal  in a win at Coventry away where we always normally lose.
  4. Thought O J was very good for an 18 year old making his first start in League Football. He has real power and pace . The first Davis save was from a move where he had out muscled two Saints defenders to create the chance out of nothing. In the first half he took on and beat for pace two Saints players on the wing- his crossing was reasonable as well . In between there were quite a few clumsy moments as well but I was impressed by the threat he offered. The Akinbiyi comparison is quite good on a first viewng but he has at least 10 years to develop and grow, sadly not with Norwich!
  5. Between April 1975 at Portsmouth and October 1980 at Brighton I went to 14 away matches without seeing a win....5 and a half years !
  6. Always admired the man, good that he has chosen to use his skills and experience to develop the game. Great ambassador for English football
  7. Fratton Park 1975.... We needed 3 points to go up..and send Pompey down. Easy 3-0 win but running battles the whole match with the locals. As the coach chugged up the long hill out of Portsmouth a group of kids lobbed a rock from a bridge which cracked the front window, we only stopped at a pub halfway back and bought champagne.
  8. If you go into the housing area opposite the car park and up the hill a bit there is lots of unrestricted parking about 5 minutes walk from the ground.
  9. 11/4/87....The first time Liverpool had lost when Rush scored....Drinkell and Putney scored late on (70 and 88) to give us a win...we finished 5th behind Everton, Liverpool,Tottenham and Arsenal in our first season back up in Div 1
  10. 3-0 Cardiff , can''t see how we will score and this is the first decent attack we will be facing.
  11. Not sure , we have so many new faces that I doubt that many people will recognise them tomorrow, It might be the new centre back from Spurs Troy Archibald Henville ...not Ameobi !
  12. Steve Walsh.......Tony Cottee.....Willie Young..... all out for a last payday , just hope we haven''t just signed another one to add to this list.
