Expressing an opinion and concern is fine, saying nice to be proven right that Norwich aren''t doing well is just plain daft. Fu(k off and support another team mate.... Don''t need fans that feel self importance is higher on the priority list than Norwich''s results.
You''re right cobain18, of course I''d prefer us to be mid table enjoying watching others scrap for survival, but the view I expressed after the first game was correct. I felt AN had got the selection wrong & that if we had a bad start what was the general opinion about AN lack of prem'' experience, bearing in mind the board dilly dallying over dismissing Hughton. I am not one to be bullied by the ''usual suspects'' that pop up in every thread with one line derogatory comments (we both know who they are) Apologies for the schoolboy petulance & for the record I genuinely hope we are still in the premier league come next August.
Fair enough. Apologies for my reaction .... Guess frustration gets the better of me sometimes when I''d like Norwich to be doing better

3. ive not been one to advocate Neil being sacked to date and I''m still not yet. I think for what he''s done to the club, he deserves a few games to get a reaction. The interview yesterday concerned me a bit in that Neil was essentialky saying he''s not sure what else we can do to cut out these individual errors. While recently, the strategies haven''t always been spot on (in my view), over the season, I think Neil''s got the gameplan correct and individual players have cost us. As confidence has drained resulting from poor results based on the individual errors mentioned above, Neil has tried different things to change the results and the players have started looking more hesitant (making the gameplans look more inept). I thought a win against Villa would change this, I''m concerned that we didn''t get the win I was expecting, the vicious circle described above now continues and I sympathise with the board and Neil as I don''t think it''s as black and white as some are making out (sack Neil vs not sacking Neil). This is now concerning, as mentioned above, I still believe Neil deserves few games to try and stop the rot, the issue is, with the vicious cycle of bad performances, there''s no guarantee that a new manager will do much better longer term.
4. I said when we dropped Ruddy that he was a good keeper having a bad run of form and that dropping him would leave us in this situation. We''ve now got to drop Rudd (we should do) and sent his confidence or go with the worse goalkeeper..... Poor decision to drop Ruddy in the first place!!
5.
Cobain18, 100% of crosses into the box, if you mean 100% of the wingers crosses made it to the box, no surprise there. If you mean RM allowed the winger to cross 100% of the time you may be interested to know that the last time he played RB his winger made 23 passes, of which 2 were crosses, less than 10%, whereas Brady''s winger made 32 passes, of which 8 were crosses, exactly 25%. Go figure!
That''s a completely irrelevant stat lol. My point was that Martin never blocks a cross, if his winger passes as opposed to crossing, it''s because there''s a better option on. How the comparison to a player who plays in a different position justifies Martin''s place in the team, I''m not quite sure. If you had stats on how many crosses As a percentage Martin had blocked this season, that would actually be relevant
6. Keep same back four. Martin isn''t a good centre back, he''s now too slow to be any good at right back as he either sits far too far from his winger allowing 100 percent of crosses into the box, or marks his winger tightly getting beaten for pace the vast majority of the time. Centre back poses similar issues for him plus the height issue in that position, then factor in his individual errors and I''m not sure why anyone would want to see any more of this guy in the PL!! Good RB in champs due to less pacey players/game, he can hide his weaknesses better. In comparison at CB, Klose, Bassong, Bennett will have less issues in the air (particularly relevant if Gestede plays, at RB, Pinto has pace (not seen enough of him to know if he can gel and defend), Wisdom is a better option for pace and strength, Whittaker has no pace but will at least block the odd cross
7. Great coach, poor manager - let''s hope Newcastle keep hold of him as manager
8. Martin shouldn''t be in the conversation for a starting berth, he''s not a Premier League footballer. Bennett has been very harshly treated for me, not sure what he''s done wrong (any more than anyone else) to be dropped from the squad (initially) and the team (last night).
9. Ruddy is the better goalkeeper who was just going through a bad spell. Unfortunately we''re now in the situation of dropping Rudd and potentially knocking his confidence or sticking with him and hoping games and experience develop him. He''s not a youngster anymore though - either way, we need to make a choice (maybe we have already in Rudd) and stick with it.
10. Agreed. We all want the best for the club even if opinions do differ, hopefully the right decisions (whatever they are) are made to keep us up. As you say, time will tell
11.
3 or 4 bad performances ? like the 10 game without winning before Christmas AN then had a great spell over Christmas no he is looking lost the players look lost I would be surprised if he can turn this round will he be able to ?? who knows I would Norwich to have a manager settled for 5 to 10 years but they have to get results as well
You''re right. We hadn''t won, he turned it round with a spell over Xmas. We need 5 wins or the equivalent to stay up. My view is that Neil is the man to do that despite our current run and at this moment in time I don''t see a better alternative. If we lose to villa (as it''s a key game to one of our near rivals), you start to question it, if we beat villa, things don''t look anywhere near as bad. I''m just of the view that turning on the manager at this stage isn''t the time and he should be afforded more time especially in light of his previous achievement with us.
12. A win at Villa (fingers crossed) and things may look a little rosier and bring an added level of confidence back to some of our players
13.
When you lose 5 on the bounce after getting your noses clear of the bottom three makes people rightly look at what''s wrong.....as I hope AN is also doing. We all pay the money to watch the game, so all have an opinion, what''s wrong with that? It was always going to be a difficult season as it''s proving to be, maybe AN should have recruited more experienced premiership coaching staff to help. Still April home games will go a long way to where we play next season, 3 points at Villa and a couple results here and there with three wins at home in April will just about do. But I fully understand everyones opinions and they might not be in common to mine but who am I or you to say they are wrong?
Nothing wrong with that, everyone''s entititled to their opinion, I''m expressing mine, you and several others may disagree which is fine, that''s why we love the message board
14. A very bang average Liverpool side are ''bang average'' due to inconsistency, they are still top half of the league - 5 4 was a one off freak result, really strange game. Spurs are title contenders, to suggest they didn''t get out of first gear isn''t correct, I watch a lot of Spurs and that'' show they play - we conceded a very early goal which made things very difficult and we should have tested the more. Either way, I''m not suggesting those two performances were of the required standard or what we should be aiming for, we are inconsistent due to the fact we''re in a relegation battle - that''s why we''re in a relegation battle along with 5 other teams. We''ve been making mistakes all season and as stated, achieved the required amount of point at halfway stage. Signings have been brought in to address that and not even given two games, or one game (or in Klose''s case) to settle and labelled as poor players. I''m not suggesting we should keep making mistakes but calling for the manager''s head without a suggestion in terms of a contingency plan Ian''s constructive or conducive to success. Neil got us promoted from an unlikely position and gave us a day at Wembley, 3 or 4 poor performances doesn''t warrant sacking a manager with his track record surely? If it does we really are in trouble!!
15. Auto correct has not done me any favours combined with watching Chelsea - I obviously meant Liverpool and Spurs!
16. In the last 24 hours on this board, people have slaughtered our two new signings, suggested Neil isn''t up to the job and said we''re certainties to go down. It''s understandable in that when your team isn''t performing, you look to what could be wrong and try to change it but if we take the season to date (as opposed to the last two games in isolation): * We''ve had ups and downs; beating Man Utd, drawing against Arsenal, beating Sunderland to losing our last two games and losing against Stoke. We''re likely to be inconsistent given the fact this is our first season back in the premier league * At the halfway stage of the season, we''d achieved the required amount of points at that stage of the season to stay up, having played all of the teams in the Premier League * The transfer window is being labelled as a failure by some. This may or may not be true but to date Pinto and Klose haven''t played three games yet, our last two were poor performances. Let''s not write them off just yet! * Neil is going through a tough spell, he had one earlier in the season and came through it, I haven''t seen any suggestions as to who would be better and I''ll light of his track record to date (combined with points total at halfway stage), I really think it would be a knee jerk reaction to even be discussing the possibility of him leaving the club Let''s see what Villa brings - losing to Liverpool and Chelsea is certainly not a reason to start panicking (despite th performances being awful); 4th from bottom was always going to be mission accomplished this season and I still firmly believe we can achieve safety with our current set up. If we lose against Villa I may not be so confident ...
17. I''m not actually sure what this post is about.... No constructive comments or actual suggestions about what we should do to improve
18. Ruddy is a good goalkeeper that had a bad patch of form. Some people have short memories. His demeanour will be due to the fact he suspects his career at Norwich is over after being stupid on a night out; he was baited and reacted in the wrong way. A bit was caught on camera, doesn''t mean there wasn''t more to it. The guy had a moment of madness but is a good goalkeeper and yes, he may have played his last game for us; doesn''t mean we should forget the contribution the guy has made to the club.
19.
Good luck to him ... I''m sure this board will be alerted every time he scores!
I wouldn''t worry about that, based on his past goal scoring records, he won''t score a lot
20.
Sounds like David McNally is preparing us for a non event in the transfer window ,if we don''t spend on a new striker and one or two players think our chances of surviving will be gone. Seen this before you would think board would see staying in this league as a top priority, and be prepared to invest .
Two points: 1. He didn''t say we wouldn''t spend, he said we''d spend within our budget. A pretty obvious statement to make and sensible 2. Saying anything other than what he said would alert clubs to the fact we have money to spend In summary, this post is pure speculation, none of us will know until 1st Feb
21.
FACT. If we stay up it won''t be because Newcastle United are one of only three teams to finish below us.
Obviously. It will be because 3 teams finish below us and one of them may be Bewcastle
22. Both good goalkeepers - Rudd is currenly in possession, a few bad games and Ruddy will be back in posession
23. The board backed Hughton to the tune of 35 mil, problem is that the money was wasted. If we stay up, our budget will increase accordingly in line with the increased revenue that the football club will receive; it will then be up to Alex Neil to spend it wisely
24. Haha, he''s learning, he''s young - we''re not going to get a Wenger or Pellegrini. Let''s accept that and stick by him and the team!
25. Clearly the title of the post is ironic. We''re not the best team in the world, Neil is no more of a genius or a worse manager than he was before the match; the board are not better or worse than they were before the match. We should be proud but not overreact to the victory as we shouldn''t have overreacted previously. We''re having a good go at it, get behind the team and we''ve got a good chance!
