  1. I don''t know what people are expecting the club to do here. Redmond ahs refused the past 2 summers to sign a contract. In negotiation with McNally. We had bids last season and in our Champ season for him, yet turned them down. He was adamant he wanted to go, we has one year left on his deal. Do we really want to keep a player intent on not wanting to be here? And to get £11m when the club is in this position is pretty decent IMO. There is also a post about paying Brum £1.7m. We agreed 15% of any profit. As he cost £3.2m profit is £7.8m, therefore £1.17m to be paid to them......
  2. Dembele...not a chance. Kodjia..would likely to need to pay nearer 10 mill than 5 mill as hes integral part of Bristol City. That club has a wage ceiling structure of around 15k a week and there is discussion wether they should break it in order to secure LeeTomlin as he would want around 20 -30k a week, so i think we could tempt Kodjia here wage wise, but the transfer fee would be the tough part. To be honest i cant see us getting any striker from the Prem or the Champs, likely we will need to hunt in L1 and L2 or across the water in Europe. As usual really valid points Ess, but this is where club at crossroads for me. If we identified Andre Grey and/or Afobe last year, we should go all out to get them in. They cost that bit extra because they have that bit extra. we are big guns in Champ next season, so need to flex our muscle, saving 1-2m here and there isn''t going to get us up.
  3. Kodjia not young, think 26 so coming into prime. Its easy to say their chairman has money but they hardly break the bank with signings and will have a sensible structure based on their performance and expectation, which we should and will exceed. So I would expect us to pay more and offer a greater career option for him, if the scenario ever plays out. Dembele may be different as a top PL club may move with one eye on the future, as he is only 21. But both should be players we show interest in.
  4. Kodjia or Dembele for me, we need to show our teeth now if we want to move on, both these forwards still need development and are raw, lets nip in there and get one before the bigger fish come in and sit them I their reserves. But either one could score 20 goals next season, IF we get the service right and that''s where we have to get midfield right. An all round athletic central player to sit alongside Howson is essential for me, O''Neill did ok and better than we all imagined, Tettey, not for me, lacks the technical nous to make us a sure fire top 2 team. Not many come to my mind. Oh just a bit of news, Dorrans likely to be on his way....
  5. Most intelligent supporters, at a certain age, and invest time and effort watching the team and keeping abreast of events, whilst having a circle of friends close to the club will be able to predict fairly comfortably on comings and goings and pretty much 8-9 of the starts each week. Reality is our fine City is small enough for many credible ''In the knows''. Like you say Mr Jenkins, its whether, as an individual, you choose to take certain posters words based on your feelings of their credibility. And some will get it right eventually, as I said before, if you throw enough of the brown stuff, eventually some will stick....
  6. I don''t know for certain, I think Klose has, Naismith''s was always a sticking point and '' I believe'' he relented, due to a game of bluff with our ex CEO, but don''t quote me that as fact, just reasonable hearsay
  7. In all honesty, the summer transfer windows are very difficult to predict, even for someone inside the club as there are so many variables. This summer for instance, relegation creates challenges for agents to push their players to other clubs as there is an element of poor performance from their assets at Norwich. Also the Euros could see Brady play exceptional and then become subject of a £20m bid, which was not anticipated at the start of the summer. Throw in left field bids from clubs and you have an uncertain close season. I''m sure lots of us will hear rumours etc. I take the view that if you throw enough of the brown stuff, some will eventually stick. FWIW, people I talk to re this summer think that our activity in and out is very closely guarded and the club cant make as many changes as AN would like, based on his thoughts on the squad..
  8. Don''t drag me into it, I know nothing!!!!!!!
  9. Well, I can see both sides here and from my point of view, I was happy to cheer my team on to victory last night, but chose not to stay at the final whistle and applaud the players for their efforts this season. Cant quite get my head around a form of celebrating failure,.....
  10. Am I missing something or wont we be buying players?? Every post has a team which only includes the players left at the club... I could see Klose staying, some indications from people who have spoken to him seem v positive, yes inside info for all of those that want to pull me on it. Of course if a bid comes in and it interests him then, who knows, but he likes it here. Naismith too, is ok with us. Brady may be different, Redmond 99% off, Wes pretty much gone, Tettey interesting one, if a betting man would say gone. So, my thoughts would be; Ruddy Pinto Bennett Klose Ollsson Howson New Signing Murphy (Josh) Naismith New Signing New Signing Other less high profile players I imagine leaving will be; Lafferty, Andreu, Thompson, possibly Jerome and Mbokani. Lots of buying to be done....
  11. If you''re looking for grudges, look no further than Pardew''s return to St James Park this weekend...
  12. ... And with all these permutations floating round regarding Champions League places the games both Newcastle and Sunderland have this week, their games in hand, look increasingly difficult at home to Arsenal and Man City respectively. Of course, we have Arsenal next out but that weekend is also, I believe Liverpool v Newcastle and Sunderland are away at Stoke. Not over this by a long way...
  13. MY team would be; Ruddy Martin Bennett Bassong Ollson Redmond Howson O''Neill Brady Hoolahan Mbokani
  14. Most ''pundits'' on talksport, sky and several hacks in newspapers...
  15. To me doesn''t look that bad at all. Granted next Saturday is huge, but, having watched the other 4 teams this past few weeks, I cant see any reason why we cant get at least 6 points from these teams. United are not a force and rumour has it that when they know CL football is lost, they really don''t want Europa League. Watford and Everton could be either waiting for an FA Cup final or certainly in a position where the game will not mean a lot. I know there is this ''On the beach'' thought, but we have seen this before and I don''t see these two in the class of mid table teams such as Stoke or Southampton, who would certainly worry me more. Arsenal, granted, could well be a difficult game for us but also, not as worried as in past years. So, even if results don''t go next week, I think we can still get to 37/38 points, which still puts enormous pressure on the 2 North East sides...
  16. Will remain quiet from here after all that fuss last week... I''m concerned that Pardew is waiting to pounce, as I''m sure his scouting team couldn''t begin to have an intelligent guess at how we will potentially shape up, so god knows how Palace even trained this week....
  17. For some bizarre reason, when I click on your PM link it tells me the PM you have sent me has been deleted. Many thanks for the offer, but I really need 2 tickets. Thanks again though for your message.
  18. .... Long shot I know but if anyone has an issue, please PM me and be only too glad to relive you of them.... Many thanks
