1.
I am 6 foot 5 - couldn''t physically fit in my seat. Amazed the seats are allowed. Had to either stand or perch all game. Sums up Old Trafford - pack as many in as possible. All about maximising revenue. True Man U fans must feel the heart of the club is gone.
appalling seats aside the whole ''Old Trafford experience'' left me feeling cold. Everything that''s wrong about football exists at Manchester Utd. My first trip to Old Trafford was in the early 90''s, just prior to the beginning of the Premiership and what was to become the Ferguson dynsasty since. They would get gates of 45-50000 and there was still terracing on the Stretford End,I suppose this was the very back end of the days when Man Utd was a club for Mancunians. In the early days of the Premier Lge the running joke was that their fans came from all over the country but every time I''ve been there since ,it''s now more of a question of which country theyve flown in from for the weekend? Now from the sickeningly tacky ''souveniors'' on sale outside the ground to the tourists taking photos of anything and evrything, the club has developed into something quite grotesque. Inside the ground its difficult to imagine how little noise 75000 people can make, doubtless because of a high proportion of these day trippers. Its difficult to pick out within the ground exactly where the ''die hard'' old Manchester fans are situated but whilst they will of course enjoy there clubs success if theyre being honest sometimes must look around and scratch their heads at the ''international fan club'' thieir club has become and wish it was as it used to be?
2.
when was the last time we beat Southapton, tell me that then ?   did we beat them last season ?   did we beat them the season before ?   I rest my case
when was the last time we beat Everton before last week?
3. 1.Bassong 2.Snodgrass ....are ,I would have thought set in stone. 3. In my opionion should be Turner but people are unlikely to fill in a POTS voting slip and put Turner''s name instead of Bassong, so in might well be Johnson?
4.
I happen to enjoy the atmosphere and excitement of derby games and think it''s a fixture that belongs back in the top flight. Does that make me a binner City1st? You strange creature.
When you say "belongs" in the top flight, Ipswich have been in the top tier of English football for 5 out of the last 26 seasons......in no way do that horrid club in any way belong in the Premiership.
5.
I have never forgotten those derbys in the 80s,the spitting, the coins thrown,p!ss and whatever else. Then violence that went before and after them.I dont use the word hate very often but i really hate Ipswich town, the ground, the fans and the place with a passion.I honestly dont know one town fan that has anything of any intrest to say.All i ever get is history, history and wait a minute.... blah blah blah look what we won back in the day.I really do think there scum after the disgracefull scenes before after the last two derbys, hitting women and generally being proper tough guys, spitting and hurling abuse. So if that small club from Suffolk falls into the ryman premier league so be it......good f***ing riddance![:D] Its my opinion, we all have one, just like we all have an ar$e [:D] Completely agree! I will never forget going with my now wife and her brother to the 5-1 game. Before the game as we were being "escorted" a man tried to go for my wife until I got in between them and swiftly showed him the way towards his own stand... Absolutely disgusting behaviour from a complete neanderthal. Then them lining the streets as we were shepherded up to the coaches... spitting, throwing coins etc... My only other away derby was the one two seasons previous (3-2 town) and it was nothing like that (they did win though!) Let them go down, let their awful club never get anywhere near us again and let us play them only in cup games where the manager and the fans remember the rivalry and for one day, home or away, we stamp our dominance all over them on the pitch and outside watch the last of their petty support wither away as the mighty yellow army marches by.
Christ, If we do draw them in a cup I hope we don''t field our all conquering "cup team" ?!?!
6.
I must be in the minority here but I would like to see them then in prem with us. As long as we beat them every year and finish above them in the table I would be happy. Cant beat derby days IMO. Also its not like we have loads of teams in the area, make the most of those we have I say. No I definitely am not a binner before it gets suggested. Just wouldnt wish portsmouth situation on any team or business. Derby days are missed for me, but would love them in the top flight and not the championship.
the reason why they are struggling at the bottom of the Championship and have been for 6 or so seasons is because they are in debt and can no longer compete in the trasnsfer market, scratching around for loans and free transfers. I can''t see this cycle being broken in the foreseeable future but if for one season it happened to click there and they did somehow manage to be promoted , with the finances coming the way of the Premiership , it would wipe their debts out.....................I wouldnt want that club finding a 5p piece on the pavement let alone £80m Premiership cash.
7. if youre suggesting that by Spurs breaking into the top 4 means that we can aswell, youre wide of the mark. In terms of money spent they are 4th behind Man City,Chelsea and Man United, so 4th is where they should be?
8.
Your right Che - if the items people are posting on this thread are genuine then they are sick and are scum themselves. I like to beat the local rivals full stop.
Can I assume you weren''t at Portman Road in ''95 (the Bryan Gunn mis-kick game), when at the final whistle their fans invaded the pitch ,assaulted our players then congregated below us on the pitch goading us for a good 20 minutes unchallenged by stewards or police? An incident which was all then conveniently swept under the carpet the the then "Chairman of the football league" David Sheepshanks?
9.
The question is stupid, the answer is obvious Norwich city fan should neither hate or like them.
??, If you were around for any of the derby matches in the 80''s/90''s you''ll understand why ''hatred'' is a natural feeling for that contemptable football club?
10. Has there ever been a time in the respective League histories between us and them when there has been a TWO division gap between us? Remembering the stick that we got when we went down to League One ,for them to do that that whilst we''re a Premiership side would be a nice extra bit of historical ammunition in our favour? Ask a Southampton fan how they will feel at the end of this season if they remain in the Premiership and Portsmouth inevitably drop into the 4th tier of English football..........I''ll bet you wont find many of them shedding a tear?!?
11. Whatever happens in the remainder of my lifetime, I will be able to say that I saw Norwich win a cup final at Wembley and watched them away in Europe, which in my opinion are probably the two greatest experiences you can have as a football fan.  I can count myself fortunate to have been around in an era where I was able to see both of these where many Norwich fans in generations before and after didn''t and may not and fans of a lot of other clubs will never see. I suppose I can''t grumble!?!
12. don''t know why these clubs always refer to Norwich as such a long way and a difficult place to get to?..............it''s the same distance when we travel to their club, just the other way around?!
13.
As of Saturday with Pilks instead of Hooly   Bechio put himself about quite a bit, just as Holt does and did.  Get in to ''em early and then bring on Kamara for the last 20 mins or so. Lambert had quite a bit of success with unsettling other teams and taking the game to the opposition.   The old saying of not breaking up a winning team holds true - and unless there''s a massive change in the opposition then we need to stick with that winning team.
the winning ''team'' was the one that ended the match......not the one that started it.
14. not sure what Tettey''s situation is but if fit... Bunn Martin   Turner   Bassong    Garrido               Tettey    Johnson                       Hoolahan     Snodgrass                        Kamara                       Holt Camp,Whittaker,R.Bennett,Howson,E.Bennett,Pilkington,Becchio
15. this is a highly tenuous tally if it includes Olympic games appeances??, leave us out of it and wait for a more meaningful milestone
16. Liggins....a once Sports presenter on Look East now reduced to reporting "interesting" local news such as the cake competition at the summer fete. His opinion is worthless.
17. I''d currently have him 3rd for POS behind Bassong & Snodgrass...........who''d have thought that after Liverpool (h)?!?
18. Oh great!, another fun afternoon in the lower Barclay with the orange jacketed brigade.
19. just seen the predicted team for tomorrow in the Evening News, not sure if anyone really has any inside knowledge when printing the team but they''ve gone with,                             Johnson Snodgrass                                  Pilkington                          Hoolahan                   Holt                 Becchio   could we reallt get away with a midfield like that against a team like Everton?!?!
20. If youre looking purely at our ''goal against'' column I think its a little misleading. We''ve conceded a lot of goals in a handful of games (Liverpool x 2,Chelsea and Man City) but other than that we''ve by and large been fairly solid and certainly have more clean shhets than last season. Personnel-wise at the back Bassong,Turner, Garrido and when fit Whittaker are better than we had last season , Naughton aside. The fact that many of our defenders from last season, Ward,Ayala,Whitbread are now playing Championship football tells us what standard they are? The real crime from Hughton and where he has failed to improve us over two transfer windows is at the other end of the pitch...........that if the worst happens will have been our real downfall
21.
That doesn''t make sense GJL, because that assumes that we would be competing with Championship and SPL clubs for their signature. The point is that the amount that we will likely have to pay for somebody like Hooper will rise because the numerous Premier League clubs who will inevitably be interested in him will also have a much larger budget next season. If anything I expect us to ignore British based targets and attempt to identify foreign signings that aren''t on the radar of other clubs, I can just see us becoming even more priced out of British players personally. Hughton pulled Tettey out of nowhere, and may well have pulled off a masterstroke with Kai Kamara, so it wouldn''t surprise me in the slightest if he continues in that vain and looks in leagues which other clubs won''t be. Can see us signing players from Scandinavia, Germany, France, Italy, Portugal, anywhere but the UK. I wonder how much somebody like Benteke will go for at the end of the season when Villa get relegated? I bet he will go for £12m to £15m. No thanks, not for silly money. When Jordon Rhodes goes for £8m to a Championship club, and Jay Rodriquez goes for £7m to a promoted team and then flops badly, I just can''t see Hughton signing many from this country. The Championship has been well and truly pillaged of talent anyway, mostly by us and a few from Villa, Clyne at Southampton, Zaha, who is left in that league? Will take a few years of being completely ignored by Premier League teams for the league to be replenished with new Snodgrass''s and Clyne''s. Apart from Tom Ince and Matt Phillips I can''t think of anybody left to steal.
maybe I didnt word it very well, what I meant was we could pretty much have our pick of players from these league and be able to offer money that they couldnt turn down.
22.
Just seen that when we stay up we will have the biggest transfer budget ever because of the new TV bought riches in The Prem next year. Surley this will apply to all Prem teams who will be in the same position and therefore it becomes relative. The results could just be that transfer fees are driven up. We did have a decent budget in Jan but seemed to fail in being able to spend it.
Your''e right in saying that we would be in no better position that any other Premiership club as their budget will increase too. However where we might differ from most other Premiership clubs is that even next season we still might be buying from the Championship and maybe Scotland (Hooper?), presumably we would be able to blow anyone out of the water from those league with any bids?
23. we would never have had a chance in the FA Cup whilst the likes of Man Utd,Man City,Chelsea and possibly Everton are still in it. The League cup on the other hand really was our big chance with the way that has opened up this season.
24. Seeing that Luton havent won a mtch in their league since they beat us suggests that they totally took their eye off the ball after beating us, possibly to the detriment of getting out of that league for the 4th time of asking? One the one hand it did slightly anger me to see that with just a slight amount of professionalism, Millwall brushed them aside easily. On the othe hand that Millwall team was probably comparable in the quality of the side we would have fielded today and as a team of players who play with each other week in and week out would probably have won against ours who were playing once a month.
