  1. I think part of it is also hedging our bets about not being promoted each time we go down. If we hadn't been promoted last year then it's quite probable that the likes of mumba and onel would have been turning out for us in the champs instead of our on loan...
  2. Love it! Though being a mite pedantic, p.312 should be football shorts (2 or 3 single paragraph stories per page)... Also, a shame you can't change channel to play a spot of bamboozle on c4
  3. Try reading it. Essentially you can only hit your head against a brick wall so many times so instead they wrote it down.
  4. https://www.bbc.com/worklife/article/20160915-should-you-change-your-name-to-get-a-job This links to numerous studies into it (though it appears that some of the links may be dead or locked)
  5. Hate to break it to you, but people are inherently privileged because of the colour of their skin in our society. True it is more prevalent in the states, but, white privilege is a real and measurable thing.
  6. While some on here are clearly trolling, this is nothing more than bigotted ignorance. Are you seriously trying to claim that trans people are "monsters, paedophiles and psychos" who are trying to convert people into being trans?!? Out of all the myriad of depressing, ignorant and stupid things I have read on this board over many, many years, this has to take top spot!
  7. Thanks for this. Hopefully this will highlight to many the continues importance of this kind of thing and that homophobia/transphobia isn't just a case of direct abuse or harmful stereotyping of the type that some on here have entered into....
  8. Gammon doesn't specifically attack white people, it specifically targets a subset of white people, it's not racist, merely descriptive. If you went around calling all caucasions honky, that would be racist
  9. Don't tell him about the ducks! https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://amp.theguardian.com/education/2005/mar/08/highereducation.research&ved=2ahUKEwj60PKF1-H1AhVFgFwKHQrhBuMQFnoECAQQAQ&usg=AOvVaw2uOn7Tyu_vFlj2BDXWpd_v
  10. With the Greeks I don't think they even cared about being alone...
  11. Appropriately got this this morning: VID-20210429-WA0030.mp4
  12. Stalin, Pol pot and North Korea are/were despots hiding behind a socialist name, I'm surprised you haven't rolled out Hitler since he was leader of the national socialist party! What about the countless millions that have been subjected in the name of capitalism? The whole slave trade for example, systemic genocide of native peoples to allow the expansion of free market countries?
  13. Ok, so just taking this in isolation, what if people were systematically treating a race or (for sake of argument) religious group in a discriminatory way, can we "claim moral superiority" over them and try to get them to stop because we disagree with them? What about if they said that they were only allowed to live in certain places? How about then? What about if they were packed off to "education" camps? At what point does bigotry have to be present for you to say that we are justified in trying to do something about it?
  14. You say self abuse, I would say self love... As Billy Connolly once said: there are two types of people in the world, *** and liars and I'm not a liar...
  15. You are of course right and I did question whether I should have posted that regardless of the punality of his name...
  16. Do You Plan on adding a 13th month to the calendar then? They already have 12...
  17. Thanks Shef, that was exactly the kind of answer I was after... So it boils down to, they will probably try to fudge it so the book cost is nothing until they have cleared the current accounting period though they may not be allowed to depending on how 'nice' their auditors are.... I fully expect to hear nothing more about this then and everyone to just pretend that they haven't broken ffp.
  18. So David goodwillie was actually a very naughty willy? Sorry, I'll get my coat
  19. I saw that, says a lot about how desperate spurs were to get him off their books! Perhaps the FPA could clarify how the potential future payments should be represented in the accounts and if this would still have a (reduced?) Impact on FFP calculations... (I know there was a lot of talk on this kind of thing a few weeks ago in another thread but I lost track of that discussion)
  20. The problem with trying to spend our way to safety is that a) we don't have very much money and b) we're trying to spend against the richest club in the world™ Either what we already had is good enough or we would still fail despite spending so we go with what we have, don't upset the team that is starting to emerge and don't have to wait for new players to settle
  21. £40m for Alli apparently!!! How the fudge can Everton afford this and not run into FFP? They've already spent something like half a billion over the last 5 years and hajrdly had a fee in that comes to mind... Edit: just answers my own question, looks like they can't... I wonder what their punishment will be?
  22. Could argue that Watford haven't strengthened despite their signings, similarly Burnley losing woods and replacing him with a potentially disruptive influence from Germany could go either way...
  23. Turns out that Frank was his coach when he was a teenager so makes total sense that unless we offered silly money then he wouldn't ever have chosen us over Brentford...
  24. So it's not just a Danish connection it is actually a returning to his youth coach who made him the player he is connection...
