  1. Sent off again last night second suspension coming up, I suggest our fair play award might be in jeopardy.
  2. A 26,000 attendance at this monent looks to be short of the figure we can attract at this moment, but the £m it cost to build could look to be an expensive folly if we are relegated this season and fail to get beack at the first attempt. We could well be struggling to fill the ground if in 3 years we are back in Div 1 and plating mediocre football, the feelgood factor is unlikely to survive, just look at the attendances of the late 90''s. That cost invested at the beginning of the season just might have proved our saviour, however Nigel would probably have wasted it.
  3. Expect Soton to start to pull away from the relegation zone now they have appointed a manager who knows what he is doing at this level.  Leaving hapless Worthy, Hughes, Robson and Dowie to scrap over relegation places.
  4. Good Luck to the lad, can''t see him ever breaking into Worthy''s team however good he might turn out to be.  The Danish lad seems to have his head on right.
  5. Just a suggestion yes a striker to prove himself at the highest level, it is agreed we cannot afford a top level striker, looks better than Svensson particularly in the air and has good mobility, may of course not be any better, but perhaps a more realistic option than many others I have read, will come in our price range and a good Div 1 striker when we face the inevitable. How many other alternatives do we have ?
  6. Before Saturday''s game Worthy stated the aim was to get 20 points by the end of the Xmas period. Well that was good psychology Nige, should really have waited until after Saturday''s limp performance.  Still need just 8 points from 4 easy fixtures. Lower your sights a little 15 would be nice, 13 aiming high, 12 more realistic, just hope Albion don''t pick up a win before Xmas. Another managerial masterstroke from the hapless Worthy, stick to falling out with your players, its what you''re best at.
  7. The lists are endless swim with dolphins, see the Taj Mahal. One they don''t mention beacuse it is laughable is to see City win two consecutive Premiership games, because it''s so unlikely to happen. Saturday we were on a roll of 2 games unbeaten, that record went west with one of the most passionless displays I have seen.  We are yet to lose 2 Prem games on the spin, but that is likely to be rectified Saturday by an uncompromising, physical Bolton team, who are on a poor run, who would you want to play next just ask Fulham or Blackburn.
  8. Boa Morte injured, Collins John only just back from injury, thats why Elvis on the bench. With Helveg to take care of a lacklustre Malbranque, and Legwinski looking out of sorts on right, Diop plays very deep, apart from Cole their best player subbed last night there should be not a great deal to worry us. Fulham have lost more games than anyone, and lost every game where oppo have scored first, so provided we have good opening and score first should win, therefore a positive showing early on would be good. Defensively they look poor and keeper can''t get away soon enough.  Huckerby if on song could have a field day. If we are getting overly concerned about playing a team comprehensively beaten by bottom of table, might as well give up now!
  9. I read that Simon Jordan slated the Scum for pleading poverty to take Shaun Derry on loan saying "If you''re so skint why did you turn down the £3m offer for Bent".  Well he''ll be gone in January lets see how well they do then, also Magilton rumoured to become player boss at Oxford.  Remember its a marathon not a sprint, let''s hope their taunts come back to haunt them. Nobody likes them and we don''t care.
  10. Why would Dean Ashton want to come to City, simply because he would be an automatic first choice if he goes to almost any other club he will not be a first choice. If he does well and we stay up, any contract would be improved, if he does well and we go down, his profile would be raised and could leave to join another Prem club at the end of the season on better tertms than if he was warming the bench.  He would be foolish not to include a get out clause in any contract if we were to be relegated. That is why I think he is more likely to join City than perhaps the others.
  11. Again there are some daft suggestions re who NW can afford will buy in Jan on Football rumours I shall let you amuse yourselves re wild speculation and idiotic suggestions. Certainly expect to see some additions come January, however I only expect 2 or 3 if that many.  I expect Ashton to reprise the journey trod earlier by Ashley Ward, however expect his contract to allow him to leave if we are relegated for the same sum as he cost, this will allow him to show if he can cut in the Prem. Harewood certainly hope not.
  12. Worthy N just checked Leicester City website to confirm their Johaanes Gudjohnson was the JG at Villa, this must be another one.
  13. Now it becomes essential to stiffen up the midfield by giving Drury protection on the left, Jonson on right Bentley left, Leon (who proves his boxing credentials again in the most unfortunate circumstances) and Huckerby to play up front.
  14. This might be the worst news of the whole season, Francis is our most potent weapon and top goalscorer to boot.  Felt sickened when I read the news.  We can only hope he isn''t irreplacable, however think he just might be. Izzett back from suspension tomorrow, as if it weren''t bad enough already.
  15. Rovers not an away point all season, bottom of the league, who would you want to be playing next? the most brittle of opponents Norwich City thats who. Can be attractive against the brighter lights but awful against teams on a poor run or bottom of the league, I remember two defeats last season Watford with an awful away record and Brad City bottom of the league. All the signs were there, however I was forlornly hoping we might just buck the trend, some hope, hugely disappointing, I don''t expect us to beat Saints, however poor they may be, bring on Chelsea.
  16. Well I witnessed last nights reserve game and can report that neither Jarvis, Hendo, Brennan or Shacks looked as if they were trying to catch anyones eye. Jarvis missed a twice taken penalty by ballooning second effort over the bar, and didn''t seem interested. The others tried but didn''t particularly impress, although City had the best chances and probably should have won, Danny Crow looked good unfortunately at around 5''8" he is the normal height for a promising City striker e.g. Hendo, Jamie Cureton etc.
  17. Worthy would not sign Bothroyd, the boys a troublemaker, they were glad to see back of him at Coventry and if any good why loan him out. The Doc maybe a donkey, hes our donkey and will always give you all hes got.
  18. The Doom merchants really p**s me off, keep your negativity to yourself, sure its going to be a struggle, but thats life. You should not spend what you cant afford. As for the Doc, as he has got 12 years on Iwan and his recent performances up front put Iwans last few performances in the shade.
  19. Well said James, personally I am not overly impressed with Albions signings many of which are likely to turn out to be suspect e.g. untried foreigners, to be honest Megson has apparently changed his spots regarding recruits looking at his past record. What will they do for club spirit in the long run, only time will tell.
  20. Again a post semingly intent on pushing the club into debt to follow a dream. A few reminders of folly see Leeds, Ipswich and a whole host of clubs hovering nearer the bottom of former Div 1.
  21. I can''y understand people who want us to spend money we palpably haven''t got on something that might happen. We could spend £10m on trying to stay up but there is no guarantee it will happen. Just look what happened down the road, is that where you want your club to be. Certainly we do not appear to have purchased the quality necessary to survive, but that would have cost millions with no guarantee. Lets get behind who we do have and give it our best. I do not think albions investments although costly are that impressive it remains to be seen.
  22. I may be the only one who feels we have a squad that will do us admirably, certainly we could easily handle employing a class front man, but can we afford one, is one available? Although some are not the top Prem quality they will not let us down and are hungry to improve. Although the Doc was brought in as a defensive player, as a target man he didn''t put a foot wrong and Niall Quinn felt whilst with the Irish squad the Doc was better as an attacker. A 100% player, but would Johannson be any better ? Perhaps Nigel can persuade the Doc he is better served up front. After all Flem and Simon C have done little wrong and there is still Malky and Shacks (remember him). Saturday could well tell us whether the Doc can cut it, let the Doc loose on Lehmann!
  23. I agree re Helveg and Breenan out wide to stiffen midfield and provide options going forward. However I don''t think Huckerby will have silenced "can''t make it in Prem" brigade, I am afraid he missed a sitter against Geordies, which he should have scored, and criticised heavily 2nd half when we lost the ball in Newcastle area and Francis bust a gut to get back to defend whilst at 2-2, whereas Huckerby seemingly put hands on hips and strolled back. I think we expect more from DH, the jury is still out.
  24. After three impressive performances wouldn''t sell him for less than £5m, after 1 more it will go up to £7m and then increase to at least £50m by December.
  25. Pompey - Kevin Harper on loan, just last season
