  1. Good God! We are supposed to be the 6th richest country in the world. But don't worry, the government have removed the cap on bankers' bonuses, so at least they won't starve.
  2. The government has passed recent legislation giving it the right to stop any protest on the grounds that it is too noisy. That is carte blanche to stop virtually any protest whatsoever.
  3. Exactly! He knows he's going to lose the electoral fraud case; several of his key co-conspirators have already admitted guilt and plea bargained by providing evidence of Trump's direct involvement. His only hope is to delay the trial so he can become president and pardon himself. If that happened, however, US democracy would be plunged into its biggest ever crisis. The idea that a sitting president could be found guilty of electoral fraud and remain in power would require ripping up the US constitution. It's as if the Republican Party learned absolutely nothing from Watergate. How they have allowed themselves to get into this mess is beyond understanding.
  4. 91 felonies. That's how utterly screwed up the Republican Party now is. Their candidate for presidency is a man facing 91 felonies.
  5. I think that will largely depend on whether his trial for attempted electoral fraud takes place before then. There is a reason why Trump's lawyers are doing everything they can to prevent that happening. Several of Trump's key co-conspirators have already plead guilty to the offence, and will give evidence directly implicating Trump. The evidence is completely overwhelming and damning (especially the phone recording of Trump's call to Brad Raffensperger). If the trial is completed before November Trump is well and truly f***ed. He's desperately hoping he can delay the trial so that when he is found guilty he can pardon himself (that's all the hope he really has). Either way the GOP is making a colossal error in supporting him. He will either have to be dumped just before the election or soon after it, as the idea that a president could sit in the White House having been convicted of electoral fraud is completely unsustainable.
  6. Trump repeating his bedtime routine when Melania tucks him up https://x.com/ZaleskiLuke/status/1737488845040435527?s=20
  7. What do you actually think this proves?
  8. Democracy is impossible without the acceptance of the rule of law. Trump breached US laws by inciting an insurrection, and by refusing to accept the result of an election and the peaceful transfer of power in opposition to the fundamental principles of the US constitution. Therefore, he has been disbarred.
  9. I heard that she decided to dedicate a track to Ipswich fans
  10. Do feel free to explain what you mean by "from a legal standpoint". There is no legal privilege afforded to Christianity in this country. Whilst it remains the case that the monarch is supposed to be a protestant and "defender of the faith", that fact is irrelevant to our legal system beyond that very specific individual requirement. The Christian religion has no special legal status in the UK. https://www.christiantoday.com/article/what-makes-britain-a-christian-country/36952.htm
  11. Great wreath. I think I would have asked her if she was happy that God had made sure there were no doors left in Gaza from which Muslims could hang similar desecrations.
  12. Yep! That story has been repeated several times. Established PPE providers with many years of experience unable to get any response from the government despite persistent efforts. And yet pals of Tory MPs with no experience at all in provision of PPE equipment handed multi-million contracts without due diligence, often acting as nothing more than a middle-man. Utterly scandalous. Interesting to note that Gove has today pretty much thrown Mone under the bus, claiming he wants to see a speedy prosecution. One can only assume he is denying that she ever let him know that Medpro was a company owned by her husband https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/uknews/gove-hopes-criminal-case-will-be-brought-against-mone-in-ppe-scandal/ar-AA1lK9UA?ocid=msedgntp&pc=LCTS&cvid=48654336fcd0474f86ec19345bc938de&ei=40
  13. Your exact words, "We shouldn’t fear Russia, they always respected and admired us". Putin is the president of Russia and controls everything it does. He is surrounded by other powerful Russians who agree with his view that Ukraine is not a genuine country and is stolen Russian land. Ukrainians have every reason to fear Russia, as the devastation Russia has visited upon it makes patently obvious.
  14. I guess you haven't followed much of what Putin has said or done. He doesn't admire or respect Ukraine, he thinks it's an abomination that Ukraine exists.
  15. Didn't you predict Ukraine's collapse within days of the Russian invasion? Think I'll take your current predictions in the same light as I did your original claims.
  16. Well it certainly won't change the minds of the Maga mob, but then nothing could (even if Trump murdered their own children they would consider that helpful debt relief). What will be interesting is if other states follow suit. The soft Republicans (traditional GOP supporters) and the non-aligned will be crucial in the coming election, and I get the feeling Trump's current popularity is going to get hit quite hard when judgements like this combine with the likely outcomes of the 91 felonies he faces. If only Biden could be encouraged to stand down I think the Democrats would absolutely bury Trump.
  17. The main rumour seems to be that she had breached the Covid lock-down rules. No doubt all will be revealed if the investigation finds her guilty of wrongdoing. Either way, the Commons would be a better place without her type spreading far-right bile and division.
  18. Looking forward to us knocking them out in the play-offs AGAIN.
  19. The government simply wants to disperse the blame for the catastrophic state of essential services onto local councils. Also the most impoverished areas needing greater finance are more likely to be in Labour controlled areas. Political game playing at its most cynical.

  21. This is how the East Anglian Daily Times reported it. Utterly disgraceful to describe the throwing of a beer can and flares at Delia's car as merely a "rousing" reception: "Ipswich Town fans gave the Norwich City team bus and Canaries owner Delia Smith a rousing reception as they arrived at Portman Road ahead of today's derby clash."
