  1. All you have to do is press the mute button when the Italian anthem comes on, and then settle back and watch some footballing history. If you carry this mantra on, through the rest of your life Lakey, you'll never see or do anything. There is at least one idiot in every crowd.
  2. and 1p5wich get relegated again....... and...
  3. Teemu(*) wasn't going very fast leaving London, on the M11, at 00.30 this morning *If indeed it was him in his car, but it had the Registration plate T11MO P, so a nice presumption, to wile away the journey Saving his energy for the coming season obviously. 🙂
  4. We need to come alive in the final third. For a lot of our attacks v Denmark in the first three quarters of the game, we just seemed to slow the pace of the attack down (because we didn't have the numbers and didn't look lively). There is no doubt the likes of Chiellini are good (but if you move the ball at pace, his legs will not last 90/120 minutes of that sort of scrutiny, without a potentially crucial error in him. If there are a few late injuries, do the rules allow for Todd, Max and Ben Gibson to be called in?🙂

  6. Nope . he'll soon lose the memory of what he spent that £3500 plus on, but (possibly) winning a major final will never leave him
  7. Only half an hour before kick off and at half time apparently. Quality not quantity with her
  8. I don't think you have been paying attention Frank. They are the River End Cheerleaders, ably led by Ethel (front left) who can do something with a baton and a set of pom poms, that us mere mortals can only dream about
  9. I think the top so many seeds are in one pot, and the next 'level' of seeds are in the next pot etc, and 1 team is drawn out of each pot to each Group, like it is in the WC. Can anyone confirm? All I know is that it wasn't drawn in David Beckham's front room
  10. The worst one for me last night was the 6 foot 6 inch Vestergaard being poleaxed by inch high Sterling's upright arm making contact with the face. He collapsed as if Fred Dibnah had packed his feet with explosive Why don't journalists/pundits make more of this side of the game? Call it out ffs, don't just protect feathering your own nest. It's pathetic and the real down side of this is that people take this as acceptable and kids copy it.
  11. I get what you are saying Petriix. I would say that we do these things that make us happy, hopefully each day, but, (a bit deep I know) ultimately they are just part of our journey on this planet , and you are spot on with what makes your life truly memorable etc. It's sharing it with loved ones/likeminded people that is what MAKES life special. This conversation could take a few different paths, but I am in general agreement with this thread. I'm English, I want always want England to win. I cheered last night when the goals went in, because I want people to be the best they can in life, and this group of players could reach the summit of their profession, IF a lot of things (as I have said on this forum already this tournament) align, but if they (we) lose on Sunday, so be it, it won't be the end of the World. I will be sad for those players, but it won't change my life. I had a great affinity with the 1990 WC as it helped me greatly that year as I had a tremendous amount of life changing stuff going on so it was a great distraction for what I knew lay ahead for me but it was just that, a distraction and a form of entertainment. That's what football and many similar things in my life offer me. It's partly to do with my loathing for the fawning of some athletes who are there just for our entertainment. They are not brain surgeons etc. It's just trying to kick a ball into a particular part of a field. It is something to do with what I know is important in life, and as much as I love my football, there are (modern day ) aspects that I abhor (money/morals/responsibility for example). People are what really matter to me. I watch football to watch 'my' team entertain me and hopefully win, but it comes with a caveat that that is not possible all of the time. I saw a video this morning of some of the Millwall firm (FFS 🤦‍♂️) having a go at Portsmouth fans and it was truly pathetic to see grown men making death threats to people 60 metres away in the stand, who they do not know, and would normally walk past in the street any other day of the week, purely because of they like to see 11 different men try to entertain them (Oo err missus and all that). I wonder, on their deathbed, whether they will still harbor this huge grudge and want to wipe those opposition fans from the face of the earth? We cannot help where we are born, and there is always something that influences which football team we follow, so to pitch tribal tendencies against other football fans to beyond a bit of banter, is mind blowing and ridiculous.
  12. We haven't committed to attack for large swathes of this game and we do not have the movement/numbers to worry their defenders. If we can up the rate we can take this
  13. They break with movement, support and pace, we are not doing that. Time for a couple of subs?
  14. You are waiting for karma to call, aren't you CS? It'll come, just wait 😉
  15. If 90% of our players reach 8/10 or 9/10 performances then I am very confident that we will win with a tad to spare. Less than that and Denmark will have a chance. Denmark will be feeling the pressure too, don't forget. Let's not default that we have the only players who are feeling the weight of the occasion. They (Denmark) are full of the bravado before the game, because they know we are at home, but let's see what also happens to them once the whistle goes.
  16. I never can take the French one seriously as I know the rude version
  17. If you can't physically attend, then this will provide a great service for such non-attendees. If not, there's always Radio Norfolk ( I presume)
  18. I was directing my thoughts to what could stir the loins of the respective sporting teams tbh, rather than a Country's history (which I did not know, so am genuinely not taking the rise when I say thank you - every day is a learning day) . I am not sure, for example, how much store the Poles put on that particular fact, when singing it, to spur them on, but if it does, then great. For me, the Welsh one seems to draw out the passion into a powerful crescendo, ready for 'battle'. The Italians rushed affair doesn't do it for me, (but does for them which is all that matters) It's not necessarily the words spoken (as they are all nationalistic) but the tune
  19. It's all about opinions TGS! Out of curiosity I have googled the indonesian anthem, and I just felt I was in North Korea 🙂 Never have got the love in for the Italian anthem. I think it is too rushed and because the Italians are deemed as passionate and emotional people, that it adds weight to the tuuuuunne. Nah. For hairs on the back of your neck, the Welsh one tops the lot for me every single time
