Did Dean Ashton really want to put one past crew?

Recommended Posts

dont get me wrong, once again he played well, but how many times would he miss the chance he blew over the top in the first half? he then had another chance from 4 yards with only the keeper to beat in the second half and blasted it across the box instead! he also had other chances and was constnalty screaming for it to be laid back, but was he 100% sure he wanted to score?

Very interesting point must admit i have thought about it myself. I can see why he wouldn''t want to but at the end of the day he has to be proffesional doesn''t he?

Of course he did, but you also need to know he was played against the team he had played for 4 to 5 years, with the same manager too! Their manager surely know his strength and weakness, so I should say even the forward who scored against Manchester United, cannot score against his former club...

Loyalty worth NOTHING in today''s football, I am sure Deano want to score against Crewe, but will not celebrate the goal if he scored.

So you''re questioning Ashton''s professionalism? I''d imagine that Deano''s extra desperation to score against his former club may have proved a factor but only in the sense of him trying too hard to impress/score. To suggest Ashton deliberately missed is appalling in my opinion.

<Sarcasm> Its funny that, because I thought Mark Rivers was pretty poor when he came on. Did HE really want to put one past us? </Sarcasm>

I have to agree with anderz, i think he was so desperate to score, that he tried too hard, abd as previously stated Dario Gradi would know Deano`s weaknesses better than anyone.

Aston was definitely 100% trying too hard. Too many passes overhit, too many shots lashed not placed, too many offsides and too many fouls when trying desperately to score. All smacks of too much adrenalin.

Last night was, in my view, the poorest game he has had for us. Trying too hard meant he didn''t play his natural game and wasted some good positions- that 4 yard lash across the box which bounced off Leon''s head was a scandalous waste with three men waiting.

At least there''s another 43 games when he won''t have that problem!!

blimey! im not questioning his ''professinoalism''...it was justa bit strange how he missed lots of chances that he would normally bury, yep perhaps he was trying too hard then
