blahblahblah 2 Posted May 19, 2013 Here are the top flight end of season league positions for Norwich City since the first time we promoted into the top league in 1972/73.Last seasons'' team achieved the 9th best league position ever ( or joint 7th depending on your point of view). This seasons team acheived the 6th best end of season league position ever.And to think we only played for half a season :). Apologies for some of the spacing towards the end. Don''t know what happened there...Stats from the excellent http://www.norwichcity-mad.co.uk/league_history/norwich_city/index.shtml92/93 3rd - 21 9 12 61 65 7288/89 4th - 17 11 10 48 45 6286/87 5th - 17 17 8 53 51 6875/76 10th - 16 10 16 58 58 42 (58)89/90 10th - 13 14 11 44 42 5312/13 11th - 10 14 14 41 58 4493/94 12th - 12 17 13 65 61 5379/80 12th - 13 14 15 58 66 40 (53)11/12 12th - 12 11 15 52 66 4777/78 13th - 11 18 13 52 66 40 (51)82/83 14th - 14 12 16 52 58 5483/84 14th - 12 15 15 48 49 5187/88 14th - 12 9 19 40 52 4590/91 15th - 13 6 19 41 64 4576/77 16th - 14 9 19 47 64 37 (51)78/79 16th - 7 23 12 51 57 37 (44)91/92 18th - 11 12 19 47 63 4504/05 19th - 7 12 18 42 77 3384/85 20th - 13 10 19 46 64 4980/81 20th - 13 7 22 49 73 33 (46)94/95 20th - 10 13 19 37 54 4372/73 20th - 11 10 21 36 63 3273/74 22nd - 7 15 20 37 62

Power Hamster 0 Posted May 19, 2013 Another excellent footy statistics website is statto, comContains every League and Cup result ever, and you can look at the league table as it stood at any time during any season.Hours of innocent amusement!
Power Hamster 0 Posted May 19, 2013 Another interesting statistic from the OP''s table - our 23 draws in season 78/79 are a league record. In fact we are still the only club in the history of the English leagues to draw more than half our games in a season,

Reykjavik Canary 0 Posted May 19, 2013 But It''s 5th from last in points collected. More like lucky from a weak league than good season.Ship Hughton to Ipshit before he leaves us in the same mess Roedent did.

Pudd 1 Posted May 20, 2013
But It''s 5th from last in points collected. More like lucky from a weak league than good season.
A lot of the old seasons are based on 42 matches, rather than 38.

Not only that, but you''ll notice that in recent years, the top teams have been bettering 2 points per game, while lower teams have been struggling to get to 1 point per game - in my opinion, a sign of the increasing disparity between top and bottom. Gawd bless yer champions league.
Jack Flash 17 Posted May 20, 2013 And the best position for 20 years, which is all the better for the huge difference now in the spending power at the top end of the Prem.
