Skerritt 0 Posted February 20, 2013 Could it be worth chucking Jamar Loza or the Murphy twins to help start scoring a few. They are clearly talented players and will want to show what they can do at this level so worth a punt?

AJ 1,224 Posted February 20, 2013 AgreedWould be out of their depth. There''s talent, and then there''s knowledge of the league.Players like Huth are just bullies, with no real talent, but they know the way the game works at this level and would simply snuff out any young sparks. They need to be natured and developed into the game. Give them time or they will crash and burn
Indy 3,307 Posted February 20, 2013 Yep agreed, you win nothing with youngsters! Keep on going with the proven premiership strikers we have who are scoring goals for fun. Hang on, 6 goals from the strikers in 26 games........hmmm maybe trying youth and their enthusiasm for a game or two to blood them, give them a taste of what could be, might be worth a go. But we have this new super hero who has come from the land of the free to power us to safety, Kamara will surely score for fun at this level having been playing superb Soccer in the MLS. If not Kamara then Becchio has that scoring prowess, he''s an instinctive goal getter. Failing that there''s always Jackson. Not being funny but if they are good enough they are old enough, it''s down to the manager and his team to decide if they are a better option then the senior options. I wouldn''t hold my breath for that though. Fingers crossed that Kamara and Becchio find blinding form for the Everton game.
nutty nigel 7,554 Posted February 20, 2013 If they are physically strong enough then I''d agree with the maxim that if they''re good enough they''re old enough. But it''s a risky strategy right now unless we''re writing off our new players already?
Bill 1,788 Posted February 20, 2013 "Not being funny but if they are good enough ....." But you are being silly There is no evidence that they are good enough, for what is probably the finest league in the world. Games in the reserve team will let Hughton know if they are anywhere near up to it - and there is nothing to suggest they are (A1 pretty much sums it up). There is also the false belief that we are not scoring simply because we do not have players who can score. The lack of goals is far more down to the way we are playing, that has to change if we are to see more goals, not simply trying something because it might work. shefcanary 2,435 Posted February 20, 2013 Evidence of whether any of the youth team, and indeed Special K, was gained from the U21 development game on Monday. Against an experienced Bolton back line no goals scored. Mind you, Heitinga has been pretty sh*te recently against unknown opposition and Prem stars alike so why not! Has there been a better chance to score freely - lull Baines into a false sense of attacking security early doors, hit them on the break and a hatful is in store! Seriously.... Lavanche 0 Posted February 20, 2013 I wouldnt start with them, but 10 last minutes here now and then wouldnt hurt youth players.Ofc risky, but if we are already down to more than few goals like against Liverpool and Man City, it really doesnt matter that much to change Pilks for one of the murphys. If nothing else it could raise their value, if they never fit in our first squad. Not to mention how well did Sterling and fellows do in first games as they were unknown and full of energy ^^
