Yellow Green Army 237 Posted June 29, 2012 Apparently he has asked Birmingham for permission to speak to Norwich. ( Daily Mail). If this is true then possibly the rumours surrounding our interest in Jack Butland may also be true. Does anybody know much about Dave Watson the goalkeeping coach. Bethnal Yellow and Green 1,589 Posted June 29, 2012 With Ruddy just signing a 5 year deal I can''t see Norwich making any major investments in a goalkeeper. Birmingham recently rejected £6m for Butland from Southampton. Watson is regarded as one of the best GK coaches and he is involved with England - would be a good appointment. peter2704 0 Posted June 29, 2012 Apparently one of the best Keeper coaches around. Has helped the careers of Joe Hart, Ben Foster and also the upcoming Jack Butland. Would be extremely pleased to get him on board and could potentially develop Rudd and Steer into extremely good goalkeepers. Also would help to improve the ever-improving Ruddy. Syteanric 1 Posted June 29, 2012 as long as we dont end up in any Penalty shootouts we should be fine!get him in!
JammyYellow 0 Posted June 29, 2012 Very much welcome him to our club. Surely this shows that we are to be taken seriously if we can get some of the best coaches in the country to want to come here. (if true) A step forward is very much a step welcomed.
flecky76 0 Posted June 29, 2012 David Watson was the Barnsley goalkeeper when they spent a year in the Premiership around 1997. He was a an England-U21 regular at that time and was highly thought of. He was in the same U21 team as Darren Eadie, so I''m sure he would be best placed to judge the man himself.I think he would have gone on to become a regular Premiership player himself, but much like Eadie (probably even more so), his career was cut short through injury. Seems like he''s doing well on the coaching side though and is clearly well respected.
Dave 0 Posted June 29, 2012 His career was ended playing against Norwich!!! Still hes married to John Deehans daughter so perhaps she fancies a move back to Norfolk
York Canary 28 Posted June 29, 2012 Would LOVE it if he joined our coaching staff. Would only improve the boys we have here and could help Rudd/Steer find clubs to go get experience with on loan. Very well respected gk coach. Would help Ruddy to the next level
JC 0 Posted June 29, 2012 As much as the work by John Ward over the past year with Ruddy has been excellent, I would love to see him joining NCFCYou can''t argue with the players he has worked with and how they have improved, seems a very talented coach which will also help the progression of Rudd & Steer
flecky76 0 Posted June 30, 2012 Wood not Ward. John Ward is the Col U manager...
Old Shuck 188 Posted June 30, 2012 Jeff Wood is the current GK Coach. Ex-Charlton. If Watson is to come here then fair play-one of the top GK Coaches in the country. Lets hope he''s here for the long term in that case as well, as we''ve been through a few in recent years! Am guessing that, with Cully and Karsa off to Villa at some point (until such times either they or the club officially confirms they are staying as part of the announcement (ie) pictured with Hughton and co, assumiung they''re off regardless of previous statements) there will be more moves on the coaching side of things anyway as the club wanted the manager to have a bigger staff-if they go therefore, replacements for them will be pending. Wonder if an ex-player or two with all the badges will be considered-there are a few out there, qualified and available, some with UEFA badges.
