Swansea City have topped the Fair Play League Table for the 2011/12 season.

The Swans, who were playing in their debut season in the Barclays Premier League, pipped second-placed Tottenham Hotspur and third-placed Manchester United to secure top spot.

And Norwich City - who were promoted to the top flight along with Swansea at the end of the 2010/11 season - have been deemed to have the supporters with the best behaviour.

Norwich were just ahead of Fulham and Sunderland in the table.

Both promoted clubs enjoyed successful seasons on the field in the Barclays Premier League - they were separated on goal difference after gaining 47 points, with Swansea (11th) just ahead of Norwich (12th).

To promote positive behaviour, the Football Association established a Fair Play competition, with all Barclays Premier League matches being assessed by delegates.

Teams are assessed in five categories, with a further category relating to the behaviour of the public.

The categories are:

Red and yellow cards Positive play Respect towards opponents Respect towards the referee Behaviour of the team officials

Delegates also assess the behaviour of fans with points being award for positive verbal support and recognition of outstanding play by the opposition.

The funding for the awards is provided by the FA Charity Committee.

The club should use the money to ''help'' the away fansIt''s only £20,000 but maybe they could use it to subsidise cabbage canary at Newcastle and Sunderland awayIt would be a good bit of PR for the club to be seen to be handing the money back to those who earned the money

Id rather see a bunch of hooligans at the games rather than middle class women and kids. Whether you like it or not they''re the ones who make the most noise at games and even though they are very primitive, they show their passion more at games which makes a more lively atmosphere.

I''m talkin about home games you thick fuckin tosser.

D''you know what, if there''s one thing we really need, it''s more people sat anonymously behind a keyboard bragging about how hooligans are so passionate (and presumably telling us how they''re ''well hard'').  We could call them keyboard warriors, perhaps.  Yes, maybe that''ll catch on.
