Rudolph Hucker 0 Posted April 13, 2012 Man City were a powerful away unit in the early season but latterly their away games have been their downfall. They haven''t won away for some time but where they have it has been because the home team has kept a clean sheet and gone on to score a single goal winner. Stoke let one in and got a 1 - 1 draw. This is probably the most likely result for us tomorrow because we cannot keep a clean sheet. The home game against Chelsea was actually celebrated by supporters - primarily because of the clean sheet; and so we know we have it in us to deny a top side at FCR. I hope to see Norwich play a tight and physical game tomorrow with Holt plus Moro or Wilby up front. I would bring back Naughton though, possibly for Drury and keep the midfield as per Spurs. We have to be patient as fans because if we want a result it is going to be in the balance until the end. To beat man City we need to keep them out and take one of the few chances we are likely to get.
Thirsty Lizard 3,215 Posted April 13, 2012 Naahhh - we don''t do 1-0 wins. Lets go for them from the start and win 2-1 or 3-2. Lets face it - if the ref had actually done his job at Spurs and sent off King and given us two penalties we would probably have won that game about 5 - 1. We can afford to relax and play with no fear.

Be highly competetive - close down like we did against Swansea and Tottenham and get in their faces. They will remember a match where they had an easy win at home - they will find it a bit different tomorrow, I think. But only if we are at high intensity. We will undoubtedly play with no fear, but save the relaxing until the after match drinks!
Thirsty Lizard 3,215 Posted April 13, 2012 You''re being picky LDC - you know I didn''t mean ''relax'' in that sense. I meant relax in the sense that we can go out and have a right go at them and not worry too much if it doesn''t come off and we lose - or in other words play like we did at Spurs. We both know there is no way ever in the universe that Paul Lambert would let a team of his ''relax'' in the sense of not going out there and competing for every ball. If we are beaten it won''t be through lack of effort. Rudolph is right. I think if we are to win this game we will need to keep a clean sheet. Citeh are known for their attacking and goalscoring but they also have the tightest defence in the division. Just 26 goals conceded. They must be wondering why they aren''t top because they have both scored most and conceded least. Games are running out for them. Having got back in with a chance that chance will surely be gone again if they drop anything tomorrow. Our hardest game of the season for me.
YankeeCanary 0 Posted April 13, 2012 Surely all that''s required is for all Norwich supporters to wear green and yellow scarves. This is sure to demoralise MC and they will surely lose.........in the end.

The Gruffalo 0 Posted April 13, 2012 The same way you beat any other team. Score more than the opposition Rudolph.

For me the key to our win against Spurs was the pressure we put on them in their half, and for this having Holt and Wilby was key. Both our goals came from winning the ball in their half. I agree 1-1 is likely cos we are struggling to keep clean sheets, but equally Spurs have a very good goals against record and we should have had 3 or 4 against them, so I wouldn''t be surprised if it ends up a higher scoring game. We won''t be intimidated though I hope, so are quite capable of winning or drawing. Bring it on !
Norfolk Mustard 106 Posted April 14, 2012 I think we''re all on the same subject here; in the context of being relaxed read; ''being in the zone''. That''s what top performers do. When at their most creative musicians ''get in the groove'' - it''s the 4th level of functioning labelled ''subconscious competence''. It all amounts to the same thing; getting your mindset into the best place for optimum performance. That''s why training at Colney is completed at high tempo on pitches that are precisely the same size as Carrow Road. Should there be a variable in any factor (such as speed or pitch-size) that may cause the players to drop into the 3rd level of functioning labelled ''conscious competence''. In other words, they can function in those circumstances, but they probably need to think about their actions a bit more more as they go about it.Results-wise that''s another reason home form often surpasses away results (there are more variables when playing at other teams grounds). It all comes down to the pyschology of achievement - a fascinating subject that I am passionate about! :-)OTBC
lake district canary 0 Posted April 14, 2012 The ''being in the zone'' as you describe it Mustard is being in a state where you are no longer consciously concentrating on what you are doing - more like you are just "doing" - of course it is the ultimate state for performance - you are so involved in what you are doing that you lose yourself in it and your inner self takes over. The chattering, nervous, distracting stuff disappears and you are in a state of total concentation - but without seemingly trying. It is effortless when you are in that state - a slightly wondrous feel to it, but as soon as you start thinking again - thats it - its gone. Great to be in that state and then as soon as you go out of that state you want to get it back - but its easier said than done!!
J 0 Posted April 14, 2012 I''d also suggest what others have said. We need to go into the game taking the approach that we are not the underdogs (which we will) to create a more open, free flowing game for us - dont let them dominate it through thinking we are underdogs; If we went in defensive it just brings on the pressure from them. I''d suggest playing with width and exploit their wide areas, somewhere I think that we can really exploit.
