gazzathegreat 0 Posted April 25, 2010 Remember it all clearly. It''s a feat which will probably not be repeated, not the whole story anyway. Yes we were defeated on the opening day, but by such a margin and so comprehensively beaten - then the manager responsible moves here? It''s the stuff of storybooks, a bit Roy of the Rovers if you like (apologies for anyone under 30 who won''t know who that was!). In the media the Leeds story really overshadowed us and for many reasons that may well have been in our favour. It''s tough having to listen to the likes of Alan Green bleat on about how Leeds should be in the Premiership and about them being a big club, etc etc. But we were the team who just got on with it. Once Lambert was here he got the whole playing staff motivated, tactics and game plans well worked and the whole team was transformed. It''s great to look back and see just what we have achieved, given the way we started the season. He simply has to be manager of the season in this league.
Kathy 553 Posted April 25, 2010 Hasnt stopped them bleating on about Leeds though. Watching tele over the last few days you could be forgiven for thinking we hadnt won this league. Grrr.
Heresyourfathersgun 0 Posted April 25, 2010 Its hard to believe. Yesterday it went a bit quiet in the Barclay. Promotion was in the bag, but city weren''t playing great. I found myself thinking back to the waves of negativity that used pour out of the stands and drown the players - a sense of security and confidence that we haven''t known for years was present. One man rarely has that sort of effect on a club. I liked his style yesterday when he walked round a the end a dignified distance from the players - a man who knows how to read a situation. Bill 1,788 Posted April 25, 2010 A few interesting points from the second table.Stockport were above us. How the fortunes of both changed. Millwall also had a fair old season. Same points as us. Same distance behind Leeds and Charlton. Turning round that deficit of a goal difference for us was not mean feat either. I just hope some naughty people don''t think it a jolly wheeze to post that table on any Leeds forums. That would be very childish indeed.

We are a club that Nobody in the press wants to praise, I just wonder if the local tv will do something of an end of season program on us, Doubt it very much
Bill 1,788 Posted April 25, 2010 "just goes to show how daft Cluck and the rest of the purist sheep were"Oddly they seem to have been a bit quiet of late.Perhaps they are busy helping out at poorman road counting the season ticket applications. Not that there is a lot to count it''s just it can be awfully tricky trying to read the forms when they are written in wax crayon.
Philipo87 0 Posted April 25, 2010 Im really hoping that Man U do not win the title this year! When we were miles behind and Man U not looking so great either i had a look at the odds for Man U, Newcastle and Us all to win their respective leagues. The odds were over 100-1. I decided not to bother putting a bet on because there was no chance of this happening. So lets hope Man U do not win the league!!

The players this season had too much charcacter for that even before Lambert came in. Because after we lost that first game we then beat Yeovil 4-0 and drew at Exeter. Lambert is right to praise the players but there''s also no doubt he got more out of them and made them believe again. But it was this ability to bounce back from the odd defeat that made life so difficult for the Clucks of this world. They would load their guns after we lost a game but we''d win the next game before they had the chance to fire them.
